So I've been replaying Kirby games lately (Superstar and Amazing Mirror, to be exact), and I'm astounded that there aren't as many fanmade abilities out there that I've come across. I mean, there are definitely a lot and a lot of them are very cool, but I've yet to see like.. a solid, single site where people post their ideas. Y'know? So this is here to alleviate that.
I have a scrap on my DA account with some of these abilities I've created drawn, but I plan tonight to make a larger pic with some more and better descriptions/drawings of each. I've been working on other art, but this is something I can squeak out quickly. So enjoy, and feel free to add your own.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adventure
Hat: An Indiana Jones style fedora; Kirby also carries a whip
Symbol: A fedora tilted at an angle
Moves: Think Castlevania...
Scroll Powerup: Kirby can cross the whip with the three elements: Ice, Fire, or Spark.
Orb
Hat: A tiara that houses two large balls: one red, one blue.
Symbol: Two orbs circling each other
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: The orbs have a larger attack radius and can bypass walls.
Zombie
Hat: Kirby turns black with white eyes and wears a skull over his head.
Symbol: A skull
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: The bones Kirby tosses can grow larger by holding B. Kirby can also phase through walls uninhibited, so long as he is dashing.
Magnet
Hat: A silvery helmet housing a very large magnet and a "tail" of iron fillings.
Symbol: A horseshoe magnet
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: Magnet Finish -- Charge the magnet all the way, then hold and charge B. Kirby will unleash a devastating pulse of magnetic energy that pulls in all enemies on screen and kills them in one blow. Does half damage to mid-bosses.
Samurai
Hat: A samurai ponytail and a katana in hand.
Symbol: A samurai helmet
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: Kirby now wears a kabuto (Samurai helmet) and his katana unleashes miniature gusts of wind when charged. His combos are a bit more powerful.
Bug
Hat: Bug-eye goggles, antennae, a bee abdomen, and a pair of bug wings.
Symbol: A small bee
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: Kirby will fire off the stinger when attacking, rather than just stab with it. He also heals on flower platforms now.
Mario
Hat: Mario's cap, of course.
Symbol: The Mario "M"
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: A different change than normal... Half the Mario-giving enemies become Luigi-giving enemies, making Kirby's hat green with an "L" and his fireballs green and gravity defying.
Tomahawk
Hat: A feather headress, headband, brave's face markings, and a darker complexion.
Symbol: A tomahawk with two feathers
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: Dual Tomahawk--Kirby now wields twin tomahawks, meaning his attacks happen twice and quick in succession.
Axe
Hat: A viking helmet, complete with horns.
Symbol: A battle axe
Moves:
Scroll Powerup: Kirby can charge his axe with B to make it grow in size and deal even more damage.
More to be added later...
Other people's ideas I saw and enjoyed:
Drill -- Similar to Needle+Stone from K64
Knight -- Kirby wields a mace that works similar to Yo-Yo
Quake -- Kirby can charge like Plasma to unleash earth-based attacks
Fan -- Kirby slashes with twin fans and can slap up tornadoes
Ring -- Kirby tosses ring boomerangs and can roll/spin dash like Sonic
Heal -- Kirby can heal himself and his partners like a White Mage, but cannot attack
Samus -- Kirby gets all of Samus's powers from Metroid
Plant -- No desc. given, but I imagine attacking with plants
Sky -- No desc. given, but likely involves flight and wind attacks
Dragon -- Firebreath, flight, and slashing attacks
And of course the four infamous anime abilities:
Top -- Throws tops. Can charge for more speed and power. Can also ride his own tops.
Baton -- Can control enemies with baton twirling.
Iron -- Becomes completely metal. Became "Metal" ability in Squeak Squad.
Water -- Sprays water to attack. Is in "Kirby GCN"

Adventure
Hat: An Indiana Jones style fedora; Kirby also carries a whip
Symbol: A fedora tilted at an angle
Moves: Think Castlevania...
- B--Whip. Hold a direction to angle whip upwards, straight up or diagonally
- Hold B--Spin Whip. Cannot move while spinning
In Air--Kirby will whip normally, but he can also angle the attack downwards - Whip at Ledge/Post--Swing or Hang. Usefull for getting across chasms or climbing dangerous towers
- Down+Up+B--Pistol. Kirby fires a big, cartoon bullet that works as his sole projectile attack with this ability.
Scroll Powerup: Kirby can cross the whip with the three elements: Ice, Fire, or Spark.
Orb
Hat: A tiara that houses two large balls: one red, one blue.
Symbol: Two orbs circling each other
Moves:
- B--Toss Orb. It will swing out and come back to Kirby in an arch. Pressing B twice tosses both orbs from the hat. The D-Pad can angle the firing of the orbs. Hold B for more distance.
- Down + B--Orb Shield. Circles both orbs around Kirby quickly, hitting enemies in close proximity. Holding B down lets him tiptoe with the orbs circling around him, but the radius shrinks as he walks (think K64 Spark)
Scroll Powerup: The orbs have a larger attack radius and can bypass walls.
Zombie
Hat: Kirby turns black with white eyes and wears a skull over his head.
Symbol: A skull
Moves:
- ***--Kirby is completely invulnerable with this ability: all attacks and enemies phase right through him. However, it is lost once you step into water or get hit with a hazard (fire, spikes, etc.). Also, Kirby can not fly with this ability and falls through normally droppable floors.
- B--Bone Toss. These fly in a parabolic arch.
- Dash + B--Roll. Kirby will roll along the ground inside his skull helmet
- Down on Slope--Roll. Works the same way as above.
- Down + B--Vanish. Kirby will sink into the ground and reappear a few clips ahead. This can be used to bypass walls and such.
Moves:
- B--Magnet Ball. Tosses a small needle of magnetic energy that homes in one enemies slightly. Gets stronger and more accurate with more charge.
- Rotate D-Pad + B--Builds power for the magnetic charge.
- Down--Magnet Pull. Pulls metal objects towards Kirby, including platforms, balls, enemies, etc. This also works to the flipside, pulling Kirby towards metal walls or ceilings or platforms. The greater the charge, the farther away Kirby can stand to get an attraction.
Moves:
- B--Katana. Kirby can slash his katana, which slices faster than the Sword ability. There are various slices and dices Kirby can perform, depending on the direction held on the D-pad. Pressing B in succession will combo the slices. In midair, Kirby does NOT spin like the Sword ability, but slashes normally.
- Mid-air Down + B--Downthrust. Just like Link's Downthrust in Zelda II/Smash Bros.
- Dash and A--Kirby tosses the katana, sacrificing the ability but dealing heavy damage.
- Hold B--Kirby charges the katana and has a bigger arch in his slash.
Moves:
- ***--Pressing A or Up to fly works like Cupid: Kirby will stay in place when in midair, and can fly freely with the D-pad.
- ***--Kirby can climb walls if he flies into them.
- ***--Kirby can stand on special flower platforms for safety from incoming enemies: small bees surround him and attack intruders.
- B--Stinger. On the ground, Kirby stabs the stinger forwards and if B is pressed rapidly he stabs repeatedly. In midair, Kirby stings down at an angle.
- Midair Down + B--Flying Stinger. Kirby dashes to the ground diagonally with his stinger out.
Scroll Powerup: Kirby will fire off the stinger when attacking, rather than just stab with it. He also heals on flower platforms now.
Mario
Hat: Mario's cap, of course.
Symbol: The Mario "M"
Moves:
- B--Toss Fireball. Just like Mario.
- Jump--Landing on enemies deal's damage. Yay!
- Midair Down--Pressing Down after jumping makes Kirby spin jump, landing with more force than normal.
Moves:
- ***--Cuts ropes
- B--Toss Tomahawk. Kirby tosses a tomahawk that flies similar to the Silver Tomahawk in Mega Man 6. It flies a bit downwards out, but then spins upwards into a reverse parabolic path. Kirby can toss multiple tomahawks, but not as quickly as Cutter blades. Tossed tomahawks will stick to walls and can be used as temporary steps.
- Up + B--Up Tomahawk. Kirby tosses a tomahawk straight above him.
- Dash + B--Straight Tomahawk. Tosses a spinning tomahawk dead ahead in a straight path.
- Down + Down + B--Fiery Tomahawk. Kirby spins and swings a fiery tomahawk dead ahead, burning away things in its path.
- Full Rotation + B--Tomahawk Thunder. Kirby tosses the tomahawk to the ground and it pounds with thunder, damaging nearby enemies from the force.
Scroll Powerup: Dual Tomahawk--Kirby now wields twin tomahawks, meaning his attacks happen twice and quick in succession.
Axe
Hat: A viking helmet, complete with horns.
Symbol: A battle axe
Moves:
- ***--Cuts ropes and hits wooden pegs
- B--Axe. Kirby slashes with his large axe.
- B, B--Throw Axe. Kirby tosses his axe and lets it return to him, similar to Meta Axe's attack.
- Midair + B--Kirby spins with his axe in midair.
- Up + B--Lighting Axe. Kirby charges, then slashes his axe upwards in a burst of lightning.
- Dash + B--Axe Spin. Kirby spins with his axe.
- Dash + A--Axe Throw. Kirby throws the axe for good. Removes the ability but does heavy damage.
Scroll Powerup: Kirby can charge his axe with B to make it grow in size and deal even more damage.
More to be added later...
