Just thought to create a topic on this game rather than posting all the news in Game Announcements.
As you might know, Last Window is the sequel to Hotel Dusk (aka Wish Room) and will be released in Japan on January 14, 2010. The official Japanese website: www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/yluj/index.html
The first one, the "special movie", seems to be an intro movie, possibly containing scenes from the game's actual intro, while the other video is game footage explained by a narrator, as also seen for other games at Nintendo.co.jp. Don't miss it.

Alas, I'm also in a bit of a "no spoiler" mood about this game, so I don't really want to look at clips of the game in motion. A very strange combination. XD
The site has been updated with the Characters and How to Play sections. But I'll stop looking at this point. The intro video was nice, but now it just becomes too spoiler-heavy in my book...

Can't wait! Loved the first game!
I'm Oldmanrupee over on Deviantart.com, Oldmanrupee on the MS Paint Adventures website (check out my forum adventure there!) and @oldmanrupee AND @oldmanmystery over on Twitter.
@oldmanmystery likes to research mysterious and odd historical events, anything from the Roswell incident to King Tut's curse. He has a growing timeline of these events at www.tinyurl.com/hystory
Great news just a few days before the Japanese release: The game is listed under the name Last Window: Midnight Promise (literal translation of Japanese title) in the table of contents of the upcoming Nintendo Power issue! gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=110464
The current issue of the Nintendo Online Magazine at Nintendo.co.jp offers another developer interview, this time on Last Window (unlike with the Tingle's Balloon Trip interview, it is possible to copy and paste the text). I guess it's heavy on spoilers, so I won't take a further look right now: www.nintendo.co.jp/nom/1001/index.html

Acorrding to Nintendo Life, Last Window is truly confirmed now to come to Europe 17th September, will be known as Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. ds.nintendolife.com/news/2010/07/last_window_coming_to_europe_in_september However, for some reason they don't have the link to the source. Take it with a grain of salt.
EDIT: A Nintendo Life member in there says the source is from an official NoE release schedule and that Official Nintendo Magazine UK have reported on this as well.

I believe Nintendo actually has a pretty good take-up on Cing adventure titles. Hotel Dusk was rated very highly. I hope this game gets the same level of care and attention to the translation as the original (and more, than say Another Code R, which seemed rushed).
Kaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrllllll!!!

Oh hell yes. Now it's Nintendo of America's turn to step up and announce they are releasing it, too. Otherwise, I'll be importing my first game. I care that much about Last Window.

Official PR and boxart. gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=130365 Found this boxart with the dark grim nightsky a bit cooler then the JP one but otherwise they are both great.

Nester the Lark: I was considering making a top 10 favorite Switch games, but I'm wondering if I should hold off on it for now.

nocturnal YL: If you mean it as a look back at Nintendo Switch, I'd say not now. the system is still technically ongoing.
Mar 3, 2024 9:57:41 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If rumors are to be believed, the Switch has another year of life.
Mar 3, 2024 10:46:13 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: The mourning period for my Atelier Ayesha DX save data is over. I'll be starting Atelier Escha & Logy DX (1st run) soon. I'll be approaching it differently, in multiple ways. I'll read a Plus guide instead of a PS3 guide, for one.

nocturnal YL: I'll be playing nothing but Atelier Dusk until at least halfway in the year, so be prepared for my nonstop blabbering.
Mar 3, 2024 11:07:55 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Replaying Fire Emblem Engage is becoming this conflict of wanting to keep my favorite characters, but also needing to make room for new characters I haven't used before.
Mar 7, 2024 14:04:34 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: My Atelier Ayesha DX review video is up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNlvDG18Q8w Usually I'd make these videos in bulk, but given the unusual circumstance, I decided to just make this one as soon as I can. Think of it as part of my grieving process.

nocturnal YL: (Yes, I'm fully aware that the time I spent sulking about it is more than enough to just play it again. I'm a human. Humans are supposed to be irrational.)
Mar 8, 2024 12:02:33 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Happy Mar10 Day!
Mar 10, 2024 8:24:26 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I've finished the Xenologue and all of the Divine Paralogues, so I've seen most of the DLC content now.
Mar 13, 2024 10:43:35 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Finally *actually* started Atelier Escha & Logy DX. I picked Logy for the first run. Guides suggest that it has relaxed time management like Rorona. I didn't get far, so I don't have much to say right now.
Mar 14, 2024 12:54:53 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Atelier Escha & Logy DX is the only modern Atelier game not to include the last game's main character. Ayesha's sister and several of her friends join, but Ayesha herself is absent. This was the case in the original PS3 version of Atelier Shallie too.
Mar 14, 2024 12:56:57 GMT -5

nocturnal YL: I'm always under the impression that Ayesha is the least notable main character of modern Atelier, but between being absent in the sequel and outright preventing me from going back to my completed game, the whole thing feels rather sinister.
Mar 14, 2024 12:59:39 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: As an experiment, I started a private relay trial in FE Engage, and posted the code for it on X, Bluesky, and Tumblr to see if anyone would join. It was finished in less than 2 hours by 3 other people.
Mar 15, 2024 8:14:57 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I was surprised. I wondered if I accidentally set it to public, but I knew it was finished because someone brought it to my attention on X.

nocturnal YL: Atelier Escha & Logy has some interesting changes that make it feel closer to the newer games without time limit. Characters fully heal upon return, and there is no need to invite characters to get them in the party.
Mar 21, 2024 14:46:31 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: At the end of the 1st mission now, which feels mostly like a tutorial. Actions take more time in terms of number of days, but the time limit is not tight. And there's no need to worry about money or replenishing items. The perks of working for a big org.
Mar 21, 2024 14:54:25 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I was about to say there isn't much remarkable things to say about this game, but this being an even more mundane work simulator than Rorona (so far) is quite an accomplishment.

nocturnal YL: Atelier Escha & Logy is pretty promising so far. Unfortunately, this means Atelier Ayesha is going to lose the few advantages it may still have (synthesis system, music), vindicating my feeling that 1st entries in Atelier will never surpass the sequels.
Mar 23, 2024 8:53:11 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Spoiler →Ayesha is a fugitive wanted by the Central for trespassing and the destruction of public properties as she has unintentionally collapsed several ruins. She deserves it for insisting on following her teacher Keithgriff.←
