The character, which is purple, is Espeon, sure. But there are stars attached to that character which don't really have an significance to Espeon.
They added a hyphen to Eevee's name just so they could squeeze in a bow to represent this new Eevee, its fair to assume the stars aren't just randomly there.

I'm just saying if it isn't Espeon why would they leave that Eeveelution out?

You're not understanding what I'm saying. The purple character is Espeon, yes, I know, but I'm treating the stars as a separate thing, because there's no reason for them to be there otherwise, really. Here, have a picture I whipped up.

I didn't really notice because the first trailer kept flashing around, but those are some pretty damn good 3D models in general.
Also I just realised that unlike Gen5 they're not going the entirely new monsters route so we might see some awesome/fugly evolutions of old monsters that really need some (come onnnn Farfetch'd)

Regarding the stars, something I noticed in the Pikachu short's poster is Sylveon being kind of shiny. Maybe I'm right and that's the connection? And I, as many others, do see a pure Flying type in this Pokémon. Maybe it can't fly, but maybe it just controls wind and stuff... Look at those scarfs floating in the air randomly... Also the English name seems to hint Flying (even though Japanese and others don't as much).

They wouldn't be all "it's type is a SECRET!" if it wasn't a new type. Watch me be wrong now.

I've read about the new type rumour, supposedly because of this blogpost (his November post was correct about the new Yoshi and Donkey Kong on 3DS among others so far). Apparently a new Light type seems to be the popular guess (because you can't have Dark without Light! also Sylveon's all sparkly), but I also saw mentions of a Rainbow type. Hey, there's a rainbow in the background of those scans for a reason right? (plus there's Xerneas' colourful horns if we're busy looking too deep into things)

Taken from that bloggers November post. Okay, the underlined part interests me, X&Y coming out in October and yet he says two years . . . Hmmm. A wild guess at a release, or could he been compensating for past releases where the Japanese and western versions are released in different years to one another? While he call about DKCR 3DS being right is kinda freaky, the rumors of a 3D yoshi console game (made by Good Feel) have been around for a while.

It's been four generations this gen since we had a new type. I'd say it's time we got some new ones.

Definitely nicknaming it Ma-Teevee if that's the case Okay, the underlined part interests me, X&Y coming out in October and yet he says two years . . . Hmmm. While he call about DKCR 3DS being right is kinda freaky, the rumors of a 3D yoshi console game (made by Good Feel) have been around for a while. Yeah the year count stood out to me aswell, plus what he wrote about the new Smash seems pretty out there (for Nintendo) so I wouldn't put too much stock into that post. Even if he had some correct insider information, he might just make up shit along the way for the hell of it. Gamers sure love spreading fake rumours afterall

I can't really see it as a flying type, personally. It looks too cutesy, mixing perfectly with the cutesy normal type. But what do I know? They wouldn't be all "it's type is a SECRET!" if it wasn't a new type. Watch me be wrong now. Want to compete on who's wrong? It's Espeon's egg only prevolution (think Manaphy).

Amongst current types, Sylveon's name tells me Flying, since there are only two possibilities they'd likely use in the English-language, "Sylph" and "Sylvan." The latter basically means "Foresty," which would imply Grass...if we didn't have Leafeon and if Sylveon actually looked like a fucking Grass-type. Sylph is an air-spirit. What really bags me on "Sylph" being a name origin is that the French are using "Nymph."
As far as possible new types, I don't want to jump to any conclusions, so I'll just say if it's not Flying or Normal, I dunno.

Can anyone please translate what the magazine said regarding the type? I know it says "Type: ", but I heard that somewhere else, it says something like "is it the same type as Eevee?" rhetorically.
