Yeah, this was kind of a bummer Indie World. I know they can't all be loaded with the AAA indie titles, but they all felt pretty same-y this time around. None of them looked bad, though, so that's good.

Decided to remake this thread since I finished up BT and can make it comprehensive now rather than edit in a bunch. Banjo TooieBanjo's N64 On the file select screen, one of the options, for multiplayer in particular, is Banjo's N64. The box for BT and other cartridges can be seen around the table. Waverace 64 gag? I've always thought Blubber's Waveracer shop is a nod to Waverace 64. It's probably not, but I'm including it for completion's sake. Captain Blackeye and Dream Among Captain Blackeye's ramblings is him talking about a 'Dream' he had once, as well as his glory being stolen by 'a bear that looks like Banjo'. Both are references to Project Dream and Dream: Land of the Giants, earlier versions of Banjo Kazooie. Chris P. Bacon's Gameboy Camera In Jolly Roger Lagoon, Chris P. Bacon can be seen using a Gameboy Color with Camera to snap pictures. Notably, this was preserved even in the XBLA re-release. Tiptup screenshot Here's a screenshot for Tiptup's cameo. Greg Mayles' Locker screenshot Here's a screenshot of one of the lockers in Jolly Roger's Lagoon, this being for Greg Mayles, since he's among the more well known Rareware staff. Elvis joke When meeting the aliens in Jolly Roger Lagoon, Kazooie asks if one of them is named Elvis, a nod to Perfect Dark's resident alien. Stomponadon Stomponadon is another relic from Project Dream, as somewhat recently revealed. Loggo and Mario Here's a screenshot for Kazooie's quip about Mario not being a plumber anymore. Superstash's 'Rare year' After getting the combination for the safe Superstash in Cloud Cuckooland, Superstash quips he should have remembered it as it's a 'Rare year'. I'm guessing this is supposed to be a nod to Rare's founding, but the thing is, by everything I can find Rare was founded in 1985... Rareware batteries The Big Bazza batteries inside the HAG-1 have "Made by Rareware" on them. Perfect Dark cameosBAFTA Award In the G5 Building mission, you can find the BAFTA Award Rareware one for Goldeneye in the vault.

I've not been able to find them myself if the textures have been ripped. That'd be nice, since the fixed camera does make it cruddy to use as reference.
One additional easter egg: The remaining poster is apparently for Metroid Prime Federation Force, though I've not played it so I'm not sure how it relates to the game.

The trio of Nikki, Lindsey and Ginny have Next Level Games' initials as theirs. The Gameboo Horror of this game is the Virtual Boo, a Virtual Boy. You can even buy cartridges for it that show you collectible locations. Here it is in action. In the sewers level, you can find a wall covered in neon paint. Given the contrast, I think it's a Splatoon nod. In the film studio level, there are movie posters for each of NLG's previous games. Here's Punch-Out... ...as well as Mario Strikers, Mario Strikers Charged and Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. You can even find an intractable Little Mac boxing glove behind the Punch-Out poster.

I've got a few screenshots taken. Sailor Gullivar can reference StarTropics' Coracola Island, as shown in the OP, when you give him his communicator parts. He can also reference the Snowmad Fleet if you try and decline his offer of help. Pirate Gulliver can reference Captain Syrup when you agree to help him. And he can say this if you decline. Is it a Metroid reference? Probably, given how many other allusions he has. When you catch a squid by fishing, there are three things the Villager can say referencing Splatoon. I screen captured 2 of 'em. Thought I had the other, but I'll get it when they go in season again.

Revenge of the Gator on the Gameboy was a pinball game from HAL. It had a lil' alligator that looked like the Gator from Kirby Super Star, similar to Trax. Trax also had the Mecha Dragon boss appear in Mass Attack.

Huh, I hadn't made the CODEC/Telephone connection. The Spirit is even represented as a telephone, which in my book makes it the funniest spirit by far.

I'm pretty happy with both of 'em. The fact that I was fairly close with Simon is icing on the cake!

Banjo Pilot is over 10 years old and was published by THQ instead of Microsoft. There is very little chance that Microsoft will publish games outside of Minecraft on the Switch or 3DS. If you want to play as Banjo in a fighting game, petition Microsoft to add him into Killer Instinct. And now we have Banjo in Smash!

I don't have a lot to add other than keep this stuff up, it's fascinating learning about stuff that is way out of my interest zone.

I've got to add my praise for Blaster Master Zero. It's a fantastic game in pretty much all ways.

Wonderful 101 has a buttload of cameos. I'm doing my best to document them. Due to the nature of some of the cameos being inter-Platnium, there are some i'm including that are Bayonetta based due to her weird status as a pseudo-Nintendo character these days. I've still got a few more to capture, but this is the bulk of them. Unite HandWonder-Red's Unite Hand can act like Mario's Fire Flower if you punch fire. It even makes a similar sound effect when you throw fireballs with it. Unite GunStage 2 of Wonder-Green's Unite Gun resembles the Super Scope. Wonder-Black's DSWonder-Black is often seen playing a DS with a Game & Watch skin; in particular, it's the Donkey Kong Game & Watch. Unite cartridgesThe cartridges you buy to get new Unite moves look like Famicom carts. It's not a perfect resemblance, but it looks pretty close IMO. Wonder-ProfessorWonder-Professor's weapon is listed as Triangle-Force, an obvious Triforce joke. His title- Warrior of Wisdom- may be another layer, referring to the Triforce of Wisdom. Wonder-GamerWonder-Gamer just flat out wears a Famicom controller on his head. His assignment is listed as Kyoto, location of Nintendo's headquarters. Wonder-DancerWonder-Dancer's title/quote is Show Me Your Moves!, a nod to the memetic Captain Falcon line from the Super Smash Bros. series. Wonder-WitchWonder-Witch's backstory involving a cabal of armed Witches is a nod to the Umbran Witches of Bayonetta. Mario PipesOperation 1-A has several Mario style pipes you can enter. Kahkoo-RegahThe first Kahkoo-Regah you find in Operation 1-A includes a brief explanation by P-Star where he explains that ..."how to uncover them is a secret to everyone!" Wonder-Pink's Bayonetta homageIn her debut cutscene, Wonder-Pink strikes a pose that is remarkably simlar to the Japanese Bayonetta boxart. Note that this is the only screenshot I've posted that isn't taken by myself; it's taken from the W101 Wiki. I missed this cameo the first time and AFAIK you can't replay some of the cutscenes that introduce Wonders. Lost Kingdom of LowruleOperation 4 takes place in the Lost Kingdom of Lowrule, a bit of a Hyrule parody. Operation 4-A even lets you cut grass with Unite Sword. Wonder-Green's baitWonder-Green's talking sprite has a different food item in each Operation. Operation 4- the one in Lowrule- has him with a stereotypical hunk of meat, just like the Bait in the original Legend of Zelda. I wouldn't include this if it were in any other Operation, but since this one is already Zelda influenced, I included it for the sake of completion. Punch-Out!The boss fights for Operation 4, 8 and part of the final boss fight in Operation 9 all involve a phase that explicitely references Punch-Out. The mechanics all resemble those of the boxing series, down to the star uppercut and even charging a special move when the opponent is downed. The achievement for beating a boxing boss without taking damage is outright called Punch-Out. Wonder-Green's Zebes burgerIn Operation 9, Wonder-Green's food item is a bizarre burger Capri Sun like drink labeled ZEBES DRINK. It's sort of hard to read, but it's there. JerginghaThe final boss of the game, Jergingha, begins the fight as a cyclopean brain in a jar, virtually the same as Mother Brain in Metroid 1 & Super Metroid. His backstory as a processor is similar to Mother Brain's as well. Bayonetta, Jean and RodinAmong the many, many secret characters are Bayonetta, Jean and Rodin from Bayonetta. They act like they do in their native series- Witch Time is enabled by default, the Unite Spring is replplaced with Golgotha for the witches, etc. Wonder-DirectorHideki Kamiya himself makes an appearance as Wonder-Director, clad with his trademark sunglasses as a goggle-based weapon. His age is accurate to when W101 released. His title card- not pictured but on his background tab- is decked with clovers after his former studio Clover. Note that W101 has buttloads of other allusions, both game based and not. It's got allusions to Darius, Gradius, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa I'm pretty sure, and buttloads of others. It's well worth a look if you're a reference hog.

Rurouni Kenshin started in April of '94, Sam Sho in July of '93. It's a tight fit, but it's possible the former was influenced by the latter.

Of note, the 'leak' that said MP Trilogy was in the Direct also called Mario Maker 2 and a new, Switch exclusive Box Boy. The latter is a hell of a thing to guess if it didn't have actual info.
