Some early inter-series cameos from the demo, with screenshots taken by myself Moomoo Meadows Milk, referencing the Moomoo levels from Mario Kart, especially MooMoo Meadows in Mario Kart Wii. Yo'Ster Cookie Rings, referencing both Yo'Ster Island from Super Mario RPG as well as the cookies from Yoshi Cookie. Both references are pretty standard for Yoshi games at this point, but I've recoreded 'em nonetheless.

Got GTA V during the Steam Winter Sale and holy crap is it a good game. I expect nothing less from Rockstar, though.

Cool. I'm in the Geno camp, but an NES era rep for Dragon Quest would be wonderful since that game series was such a big part of the NES experience. Obviously its earned its stripes as a Nintendo All-Star in Japan as well.

This isn't random, but I feel it'd shit up the general Smash Bros. discussion for what amounts to a semi-joke. Twitter is mine, btw. Click for full thread:

So, uh, we got the first DLC fighter announced, and I can't say I was expecting it. Fits with the pattern of third parties getting multiple characters though.

Playing through Jet Set Radio on Steam while waiting for Smash Bros. It's frustrating at times, but man, what a stylish game.

The craziest one is against a black Zamus with a screen flipping effect. You get a Spirt of Alex Rovias from Eternal Darkness, a game it wasn't even sure if Nintendo owned the full rights to.

Stuff like that is fascinating. I'm glad that that wild west era is being preserved by folks like Digital Eclipse.

I think it's because of the memetic nature of competitive Guiles. The way he's introduced is an explicit nod to the annoying turtling strategy that's been around since SFII.
Nester, you're far from the only one happy about Fatal Frame representation. That made me very happy.

I've always had trouble wrapping my head around how a Mario Warriors (or Mushroom Kingdom Warriors?) would work. I'm sure it could be done, but my limited imagination just keeps thinking of Mario in a field full of goombas, and being expected to jump on each one. I guess Mario does also punch and kick, though. The characters are associated with enough cartoony weapons through the spinoffs for it to work at this point. Mario could have hammers and maybe FLUDDs, Luigi Poltergusts, Peach pans and fans, Waluigi sports equipment, etc. There's more to work with thank you'd think at first glance. Also, Mushroom Warriors would be my guess for a title.

I honestly think a Mario or Kirby Warriors could be fun. I know it sounds silly, but I think you could make it work pretty well.

It's a tossup for me. I had an uncle who had a SNES and Super Mario World. That's likely the first time I played any Nintendo game. The Pizza Hut my family went to back in the day had one of those SNES arcade cabinets with Mario All-Stars, so that's also a possibility.
I was likely already familiar with Mario as an advertising icon, but we're talking real young here, so it doesn't really matter. I know I had a Super Mario Bros. Super Show VHS around that time.
Did it make me a fan? Yeah, probably. I've been playing Nintendo games from such a young age, though, it's sort of a moot question. Only console I had before getting a SNES myself was a Genesis, and that was when I was 4. Not much time to *not* be a game fan.

Reformatted Ridley, added Link and what we know of Simon, Richter, Chrom, Dark Samus, King K. Rool and Isabelle.

Ditto with people speculating that Isaac from Golden Sun was going to be revealed for Smash.
Joe Merrick- the guy from Serebii- has pointed out that Nintendo very rarely delays announcements even for natural disasters unless it echoes that disaster, the classic example being the Whishcash episode of Pokemon.

Don't know about Konami's case. Wasn't Snake never planned to appear in the last Smash to begin with? I'm not sure. I don't recall seeing anything ever mentioned about Snake's absence, with fan speculation filling the void. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he were never planned to reappear, given the personal reason he was added in the first place. At the same time, though, Smash 4 did come out when Konami was crumbling in terms of finances and interpersonal politics...
