Whether it was needed or not, threads like this are appreciated. Showing support for less than well known games, or games that sold less than steller, is always great.
I still need NMH2, even though I rented it. To say nothing of TvC and Silent Hill, which I've yet to get around to buying. Colors and Goldeneye look amazing as well- the latter surprises me, since I'm not usually an FPS guy.

Your milage may vary on this. GoNintendo put it up, so I thought I might as well put it up here.

Your milage will vary, to say the least. If you enjoy a game for its story, you might like this. If you like a game for its atmosphere, or how well the world is crafted, you might like this. Music? You will probably like that regardless, actually. The music is just well done, period.
The gameplay is, at times, repetitive. But you may not mind that, depending on your taste. I didn't mind it. The moral choices are hardly moral most of the time, honestly. But they were never marketed as that in interviews, so that's not something I mind. They are more like Junction Points, as they are called in the guide- they are points in which the quest branches diverge. A great deal of the quests are fetch quests, but honestly, they deal with more than just get from point a to point b to point a. But not by much, in all honestly.
The length is shorter than I'd like- I beat it in maybe 15 hours in a really comprehensive run-, but the game is meant to be replayed, so maybe that's for the best.
If you want to ask about any specifics, feel free too!

Something I just noticed: The Mario and Bowser in WarioWare's weird street fighter-esque microgames are based on SMB-era designs- Mario is designed like his original sprite, with tan skin, and Bowser is the blue and grey he is in his SMB era Japanese design. Not sure if it's worth noting though.

The first Nintendo game to have an Easter Egg in it... and it's on the Atari. Instructiosn in the video's comments. The egg, bTW, is the initials that replace the copyright at the end.

Here's a crazy one from the Zelda Wiki: The really fucking creepy Link dupe from the Elegy of Emptiness may be a caricture of Miyamoto as Link. Compare: I can sorta see it, and anything to explain that freaky dupe helps. It even makes thematic sense- the dupes for the other forms are their original "soul", IE the Deku Butler's son, or Darmani. Miyamoto has said he based the Zelda series after playing near his house when he was young, so Link is, in a very roundabout way, an expy for him.

Wow! That's cool. Was anyone else grateful to Kirby for spitting the kid across the universe? I just saw that vid on a Something Awful thread about terrible video game commericials and thought of this thread. Too bad I got beat too it! A small feature on commercial cameos would be interesting, if there are enough of them. I can only think of two- this one and the recent Golden Sun commerical.

If someone hasn't figured out how to hack into a Wii and dump the roms or other files for WiiWare, they will eventually. so no worries on that count.

I might have a reason for the ship deck 2 fiasco. "Snakey Chantey", a secondary ship deck theme frmo Donkey Kong Country 2 is based on "Gangplank Galleon" from the first game. It first shows up in one of Rattley's levels in Krem Quay, Rattle Battle, if I'm not mistaken. In this case, it would be the second ship deck theme from DKC2, with Klomp's Romp being the first.
I'm not sure even I believe that, but it makes the most sense.
EDIT: Sorry, just saw that you mentioned that. They both share the same melody (is that the right word?), so I still see *how* it could be true, but like I said. I don't buy it myself.
"Love Theme" plays during act transitions in MGS4. In addition, you can unlock the "Love Theme (Action Version)" for an ingame iPod, which is the Brawl version!
And the bit about Ridley's name seems like a forgone conclusion, honestly. It's well worth a mention, even if it can't be objectively proven. Although it could wait for the inevitable history of Ridley video as well.

I thought it was something like that. That just raises the question, does *that* mean anything? =P
