How exactly would all the world be connected by warp zones. What we need to know first is: What is that...central point with all the warps supposed to be like or look like? Maybe you can quickly sketch this out on MS Paint or something. I know this won't be like KH, but will Square have a hand in this anyway?

Why can't they be connected by Warp Zones? The nature of warps is that they don't make much sense. So just connect everything by warps. Mario's warps will be pipes, obviously, but nearly every series has a warp of some kind. And those that don't could be made to work with it.
The central area could be Master Hand's warped-out domain.

Why can't they be connected by Warp Zones? Who said they shouldn't be? Maybe it could be all pipes, granted Mario is Nintendo's main franchise. The path to Master Hand, being the final boss?

In my idea, the "central area" that you speak of is "Nintendoville" where all the old one-shot characters live, Professor Hector among them. He's the only one in the town, nay the whole Nintendoverse who knows about the warps, aside from Mr.GW, Disk-kun, Sherriff and Mario.
Eventually The Hero finds out about them from him rght after he gets sucked into his Wii system and lands in "Nintendoville". Turns out he's the destined hero (hence the name) to save the Nintendoverse by gathering an army of Nintendo's finest warriors. The warps themselves look like "rip-in-the-space-time-continuum"-type holes.
Since this is a new franchise and not SSB, I wanted to leave Master Hand out of it, with a new villain instead. After all, this is a strategy RPG, thus allowing for more characters and stuff that wouldn't be possible in a game like SSB. I'll be back in this thread some other time with more of my ideas.

Your idea has potentil. Do you have an idea to who you would use.
Also, irreliven, but I've added Sami to my Tactical RPG.

Characters like that are nice yes, but please stop obsessing over them. Just like Sakurai referred to that development studio for Brawl as "The Studio"? And not KH either. Okay, good point. Remember, let's make the battle formula and all other RPG things innovative. This is Nintendo, that's what they stand for!

I have this idea for a Nintendo RPG... its called Super Smash Bros. And its not an RPG, but instead a fighting game. And it already exists.
Meh to RPGs, not that much of a fan. I'd hit the previously-discussed Nintendo Racer idea, though. And a huge Nintendo universe platofrmer / adventure game would be delicious.

I think you can apply a Nintendo spin to anything.
As for innovated battle machanics, I loved the Paper Mario+Fire Emble+Final Fantasy tactics system. I'll have to see if I cant think of a really inovative system.
And maybe we should bumb the Nintedo Racer idea with more ideas.

Characters like that are nice yes, but please stop obsessing over them. Obsessing? I just thought they'd fit that role the best. Actually, I just couldn't think of a name for him and decided that the player could choose a name for him. "The Hero" is what I use to refer to him. Indeed. as long as it's nothing like the system in Namco x Capcom. I hear it sucked.

Smashchu, this is a Strategy RPG. You're gonna need a lot more characters than that.

These topics have got me really wanting to actually work on my Nintendo RPG. But in...6 days, 17 hours, and 16 minutes I'll be getting my Wii, so there's really no point in starting on it right now. Maybe in a month or two I'll purchase RPG Maker XP and start working on it. Until then I've been thinking about the battle system.
I'd probably go with an editted default battle system. There's six stats, HP, SP, Power(Str), Wisdom(Int), Courage(Dex), and Speed(Agi). Power would decide normal attack damage, and physical special attack damage. Wisdom would decide special attack damage, and used for a "Wish" skill that would raise a variable and when it reached a certain point it would heal some SP. Courage would reduce damge taken and make attacks more accurate. Speed would determine how often you can attack, and chances of avoiding attacks.
(Power + Weapon) - ([Enemy Courage + Armor] / 2) = Damage
100 - ([ 12 * Enemy Speed] / Courage) = Chance to hit
Name- HP/SP/P/W/C/S
Mario- 15/5/5/5/5/5 Link- 15/3/7/4/8/3 Red- 14/6/5/5/5/5 Kirby- 14/8/4/7/3/4

I think I thought of a suitable main character aside from my generic "The Hero"....
Nester
He's probably more fit for the role than Captain N, anyway.
