Blame Yoshi's Island for Shy Guys. They seemed more or less in disuse before that game, and then bam! You've got jumping Shy Guys, Tiki Shy Guys, etc.. Now we can't get rid of them. Birdo seems to have crossed into nostalgia, pure and simple. Between SMB2 and Mario Tennis, she appeared like what? Twice? Once in Wario's Woods and then in SMRPG. So, Wart should get his second chance sooner or later. Besides, how many Mario characters have had cameos in a Zelda game besides generic enemies! One, and thats Wart. Thats gotta count for something.

OoT also had Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Peach as pictures, plus an Arwing in the code. And Malon and Talon's Bowser medallions. But Wart was actually part of the plot. Well, you learned a song from him at the least.

Here's some MK Wii info from IGN Wii-k in review podcast from a NeoGAF thread. The info sounds pretty bad. Link.-"Rubber banding is bigger in this game then I've ever seen" Bozon -Wider maps, Slower -You can only trick with the wii-mote -The new powerslide speed boost is very insignificant, doesn't really reward any skill to use it -50cc, it feels like slow motion. They make jokes about how big a joke it is to come in first on 50cc. -You can turn items off in verses, Aggressive, Balanced, and Off. You can't turn off items individually. -NDA'd on wifi options. -If they were to rate it today "7.5 and 7.8" IGN does have a preview version of the game so hopefully that's the reason why there is all these problems. Also you can perform tricks with the Classic and GCN controllers you press the D-Pad.

What is this 'Rubber banding' that Da Robot mentioned ? I've never heard the term before. Its where AI gets tougher as you get further. Its most common in fighting games (where the AI is tougher in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, etc). Its also noticable in racing games like Mario Kart, where it gets tougher in teh later laps.

Here's Wikipedia's defintion for "rubber banding." "A common example of this is found in many racing games. If an AI opponent falls far enough behind the rest of the drivers it suddenly receives an enormous boost in speed enabling it to catch up and again become competitive. This technique is known as "rubber banding". Rubber banding sometimes works for players as well, giving them the same advantage." Link. (Scroll down the page until you get to "cheating AI.")

A press release from Nintendo says MK Wii will be released in NA on April 27th. The press release also says there will be 10 battle arena's for battle mode as well, I have to say that's a pretty good number of arena's, hopefully there is a few returning arena's as well. Link.EDIT: New videos!!! And first footage of Battle mode! The battle arena the video shows looks like a cross between MK64 Block Fort and MKDD Block Town/City arenas! And it has NES SMB background stuff as well! Tracks gameplay.Tricks gameplay.Ballon Battle gameplay.

Woah, is that Team Balloon Battle? That's really neat. Will this be online too?
I now imagine people creating clans and using headsets in Balloon Battle Tournaments talking in internet lingo and discussing attack tactics.

I now imagine people creating clans and using headsets in Balloon Battle Tournaments talking in internet lingo and discussing attack tactics. Yes that's team BB and it even looks like items from your team members glow with their respective colour as well. (It can be seen with the previous image I posted. Now if we only had a clan formation and a headset then your second idea could really take off. New video and this shows off quite a bit of footage including little bits of Battle Mode (which I took pictures of below). An interesting thing to note, the video says 12 people online for Vs mode but only 8 for Battle mode . . . How odd, after seeing the BB video I posted with 12 Karts but 11 of them probably were AI. Link.Top left image, a big sandy battle course that pulsates and has Thwomps on it, a coin battle is playing out on it. Not much footage shown. Bottem left image, a big round stage, again not much footage shown. Top and Bottom right images, this arena has ramps for stunts and in the bottom image a picture on the side of the ramp base says "Funky Stadium with a picture that sort of looks like a monkey." Isn't there a Funky Kong from the DK games?

Behind the map on the second right picture, thats Funky Kong.
The barrier between the Mario and DK universes has pretty much been shattered now. If this means Funky is playable, then awesome.

I think the distinction between the two universes was broken down some time ago. Especially now the DK characters have been redesigned as softer than Rare's original designs.

At least they didn't just come up with a generic jungle or snow stage and just slap DK's name on it this time.
