IGN has just posted impressions a video montage of the Battle mode. Also these impression say that Battle mode online will have 12 players unlike the 8 players G4 said in their video preview I posted previously. As I have said before there are 10 battle stages total, 5 of them are new stages and they are. "Meanwhile, regardless of which mode is selected, there are 10 different stages to choose from, all of them available from the start. The selection includes five Wii-specific courses and five "retro" stages. On the Wii side, there's Block Plaza, which is a recreation of the classic N64 battle stage Block Fort. Delfino Pier is, as the name suggests, inspired by the same location in Super Mario Sunshine. Funky Stadium, which features a DK theme, is one of our favorites. It's like a giant skate park filled with acceleration arrows and jumps, not to mention opportunities to power-slide around the entire rim of the level. Chain Chomp Wheel is setup like a roulette wheel with a humungous chain chomp rolling around and squashing racers in its path. And Thwomp Desert revolves around a sandy whirlpool whose center houses an oversized Thwomp." Looks like that deconfirms your playable CC idea TV Eye. And the other 5 stages are classic battle stages, they are. "Classic stages include the SNES Battle Course 4, GBA Battle Course 3, N64 Skyscraper, GCN Cookie Land and DS Twilight House, the latter of which is overrun with ledge drop-offs which can spell disaster for players who don't carefully monitor their power-sliding technique." Yes! N64 Skyscraper is back! I never thought that stage would be in the game I was thinking Double Decker was going to return because it would be better and less crazy/frantic than Skyscraper with 12 players.

SNES Battle Course 4 and N64 Skyscrapper are pure win! Ghost Valley 2 and Mario Circuit 3 are good choices as well as Mario Raceway, Sherbet Land, Peach Beach and DK Mountain. Defino Square seems ok but Yoshi Falls & Waluigi Stadium?! No Waluigi Pinball stinks and I'd rather have Wario Stadium. I guess the Super Circuit tracks are ok, but I thought that game stunk.

Yay for Funky! Once Diddy started popping up I was getting convinced that they were starting, and then Dixie appeared in Baseball and Hoops. Well, now I'm proud to say that the DKU and Mario Universes are one again! Yay! Now if only they started adding Wario characters..

Why is Mario and DK's franchises becoming one and the same such a good thing? If you ask me, it takes away from Donkey Kong's fame and thunder by making him take a backseat to Mario, in spite of the fact that their debut clearly had DK's name on it.

Face it, the DK franchise was destroyed when Rare went AWOL. Merging with Mario and later spinning off is the only thing thats going to save it from being a peace of history.

IGN AU did a preview of MK Wii (in conversation form) and it like a certain online feature (that was also in SSBB) is going to in MK Wii's online as well. "Nice. There are also a few cool aspects to the online experience. AI will automatically take over if an opponent drops out of an online race, . . . " Also there will be national and international rankings as well. (quote contiued from previous quote) " . . . there will be national and international rankings, and you'll be able to pull Ghost data from some of the best racers in the world."

How's the ranking going to work if a person disconnects from the match?

There's still PAON, you know, if only Nintendo would give them a greater chance. Besides, are really satisfied with DK and his friends being used as filler for Mario holdover titles instead of getting his own games, even if the games are about peg-swinging?

Yes, I love King of Swing and Jungle Climber. I love them a lot And Jungle Beat is one of the best games on Gamecube. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong... and will be shot. DK has been going from strength to strength since Rare left. Sure, we haven't had a new Donkey Kong Country game since DK64, but there have been dozens of great DK games since then. Don't poo-poo them just because Rare isn't at the helm.

(Of course, knowing Rare's track record with releasing games punctually, we'd probably still be waiting for that new DKC platformer if they'd never left Nintendo. Hee-hee!)

I don't like Jungle Beat because it makes my arms hurt and kind of slaps everything Rare injected into DK right in the face. Try to imagine if some other developer got the chance to make a Mario game but decided they didn't like what Nintendo already did with him, so they remove everything except Mario himself and replace them with very un-Mario fascimilies. That's what Jungle Beat feels like. In addtion, the game was too short, lacked a premise, and I'll say it again: it made my arms hurt.

Nice comparison, Rob, but it doesn't really work out the same way - DK has always been Nintendo's, so they have the right to do with him as they see fit. If anything, your metaphor is more closer to what Rare did to Donkey Kong while they actually had it. You know? Not like it's a bad thing - I like DKC Donkey Kong a little more than pre-DKC Donkey Kong. I'm just sayin', is all.

Man-Frog... did you not see the "wrong... and will be shot" bit of my post? DKJB didn't feel like a total departure from the series. I felt like I was controlling a hulking ape, flinging himself through the jungle canopy. If anything, it felt even more like what Rare was trying to achieve. So it didn't feature anything from DKC except the big ape himself. So what? It's an amazing game - playable without much skill, but hugely rewarding if you put time into it. Also, it made your arms hurt? What a wuss

I've never been known for arm strength, but Tei, let me remind you that had it not been for Rare, there wouldn't really be much of a DK franchise to overhaul when Nintendo made JB. If DKC were never made, DK would be probably relegated to Ice Climber status by now. Besides, it seems kind of hypocritical of Nintendo to do something like what they did with JB in spite of the fact that they gave Rare the OK make DKC the way it was (and in some cases influences them. Diddy was almost DK Jr.!).
