This is a poll I created to wonder if Nintendo should have ultra-cheap, downloadable, stand-alone games for Macintosh and PCs that are older Nintendo games (like Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario 64).
This idea is not new. According to High Score!: An Illustrated History to Electronic Games, in the early 90's, id Software (creators of DOOM) recreated, as an overnight prank, the first level of Super Mario Bros. 3 (pixel by pixel) but replaced Mario with their character, Dangerous Dave, calling it "Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infringement". But the game ran quite well, and soon they coded a full version with Mario. They took the PC port of SMB3 to Nintendo, but Nintendo turned them down. Should they have granted the green light? Take this poll...

Well... yes, in a way. At the time it was very different to today - there wasn't a PC in every home, and the NES was still being manufactured and sold. Remember that Nintendo makes money off hardware AND software, and they probably had the ability to make such an emulator back then.
Today it is a little different. I think were they to provide "legal" emulation at low cost then it would prove popular. The music industry has already reduced the illegal downloading problem significantly by adopting the "if you can't beat them, join them!" approach. People will still download
But Nintendo once again doesn't need to rely on the PC. They can take the same approach on hardware they make money on. Hence the Revolution and their bizarre multi-release trend on GC and GBA

Why play games using a keyboard when the Rev is doing the exact same thing (since they will cost money, unfortunately... (though not really unexpected)) with an actual console?

Whoops, I made a typo! It's not supposed to say "Sega PC had a PC division". It's supposed to say "Sega had a PC division?"

I can't see it happening and playing those games with a keyboard instead of a controller would seem weird.

I really wish Nintendo could officially release something that can be viewed and screencapped on PC/Mac/Maybe Sun Servers/even Palm and Linux PDA.
My suggestion: well.... ugh.... not unless they're free of charge. Also, if Nintendo really wants to release it, it should be on Palm or something. Nintendo non-game stuff like websites and videos has long been Microsoft exclusive. That's true if you see the official Japanese stuff like WMV videos.
