On the other hand, I look down on pointless censoring. Or censoring that is replaced with something nonsensical (You Spoony Bard?). It all depends on the culture you're selling it to. Frankly, I'll be disappointed if they take the "spoony bard" line out of FF4 Advance. I wouldn't mind a fresh translation of the game, but it's a classic line! Everyone remembers it! Who hasn't repeated the line at some point? The picture of that scene was even in the original Nintendo Power coverage! Removing a classic line from a classic game is the kind of censorship I will not stand for! P.S. From Dictionary.com: spoon·y also spoon·ey adj. spoon·i·er, spoon·i·est 1. Enamored in a silly or sentimental way. 2. Feebly sentimental; gushy.

Ah, but the stupidest case of censorship in games that I've heard of would have to be the removal of the Tamagon trophy from SSBM. Gasp! It was in a game with the "devil" word in it! Alert the FCC!

It depends on the censoring. For example, if there was say, a explicit sex scene, I wouldn't hesitate to leave it out. Or excessive profanity, I'd tone it down.Or someone chewing on the innards of their best friends, I'd probably leave that out or at least make it less graphic. As long as the meaning and story stays in tact, I think censoring is good. It makes a product friendlier to a larger user base and thus 'teh moneyz'. I think you have a bit of a point. It is true that if you remove some explicit things and make the rating lower, the developers will get more money. However, I think for RPGs and things like that that have huge fanbases, they should release special versions that are more explicit as much as they can. I think they could please more people that way. The problem is, the cost of doing that is a lot. Releasing two of the same game is NOT a good idea if the game, on first release, was quite unpopular. This would just cost more, and happening many times could cause a company to go out of business.
