I've been wondering this for months. Are the bosses you can fight against in the game Tetris Blast for [Super] Game Boy owned by Nintendo? More specifically, I'm talking about Cubit, Snaptor, Gloop, Creepa, Squidly, Dug Grub, Shadow, and B-Boy. Here are some pictures of them from the Contest Mode ending. We all know Tetris is owned by The Tetris Company (formerly Elorg). The opening credits of Tetris Blast also state that Tetris Blast was developed by B.P.S. (which BTW I don't get whether it stands Bullet Proof Software, Blue Planet Software, or both), published by Nintendo, and that the the "concept" was made by the company formerly known as Ape (picture is here). After researching, I also found that the "concept" of Bombliss, one of the games Tetris Blast is based on, was also made by Ape (picture here). This makes me think that the ideas of the game modes and characters we see there may be made by Ape or another 2nd-party developer, the same way as you could see many Nintendo characters as cameos in Nintendo's Tetris for NES or Tetris DS. However, not only Nintendo characters can make cameos or first appearances in Tetris games (example: The Professor from Jaleco's Tetris Plus). Would these characters fit in what they call "the concept" of the game? B-Boy and his friends are not ornamental characters; in Fight or Fight 2 mode, they have different techniques and interact with you in their own particular ways, making all of their levels different to each other.

I would guess not, seeing as the game wasn't published in Japan by Nintendo.
VICTOLY!!
