Y'know, I just realized that Yoshi's Story really has much more of a "rendered" look (like Donkey Kong Country) than the "hand drawn" look of Yoshi's Island. I wonder if it carries echoes of the legendary beta version of Yoshi's Island that supposedly looked rendered. (I don't think any pictures of it were ever released to the public.)

Why is it that I've played this game to death but don't remember ever seeing that colourful ball enemy with the big teeth? It looks like something from Banjo-Kazooie.

I never played Yoshi Story, but I thought it was supposed to look more like they were hand-drawn rather than CG. Good find, either way.

Seeing this made me think how cool it would be if we got a rendered Mario game on the SNES that wasn't an RPG.

I've never been a fan of rendered graphics. I like my games to have 2D graphics or 3D graphics, not a crazy mix.

Those are so cool! Hey Fry, can you make some of those into avatars, or better idea: smilies! I'd love to do Chain Chomp whenever I'm feeling evil/angry, or happy fruit for happy, or Poochie with his trademark "?" over his head for puzzled...

That big ball (or Attacky Sack) appears in one of the Bowser's Castle stages - if I remember rightly.
Yoshi's Story's graphical style is very rendered. It's not hand-drawn in the slightest. Doesn't anyone actually remember this game?
As a side note, I think it's interesting that Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat seems to be quite heavily inspired by Yoshi's Story's graphical style. I suspect it may even have been the same development team who worked on the two games.

Yeah, we need some Nintendo-themed smilies in here.

I have often thought about adapting the smilies and other graphics to be more NinDBish.
Problem 1: No internet connection (still) to my home computer. Problem 2 (the problem I had when I did have a connection): I am lazy.
But in principle, at least, I am not against the idea. Maybe some of you could start coming up with ideas for smilies, etc. in the General forum.

Hey Gamehiker/Masamune, maybe you can add these to the corresponding picture gallery on your site.

I actually have the Player's Guide where I can get some higher res versions of those pics, I've just really been in an updating slump. Mostly from being stuck on a sucky server and not being able to do anything about it until my cash reserves replenish their selves following Christmas.

Then I suppose you could at least scan some bits of it, mainly with the artwork that wasn't here.
If your scanner works, of course (and if you have one). No need for your site, just upload it to ImageShack or whatever.

There's one thing for certain: Yoshi's Story has the weirdest enemies ever for a mario series game!! Especially these three: , and .

I think that blue one is not an enemy. I remember a level where you have to use it as an elevator.
