Yeah, out of boredom I chose to make a topic.
I wasn't sure which board to put it in, but since it's heavily related to Nintendo in general, I figured I'd put it here.
Anyway, the point of the topic is based on recent thoughts I had, meaning:
What would it be like if certain parts of Nintendo's history didn't happen the way they did?
One example of this is the Virtual Boy. What if the Virtual Boy wasn't a total failure? My guess is that it could've ended up replacing the N64 and might've had a full-fledged Mario game, a DK game, a Zelda game, a Star Fox game and an F-Zero game. I can easily think of ways those could've worked on the VB.
Any other thoughts on the VB? Any other "what ifs"?

This should be in Classic Nintendo.

Unlike most things I fanboy over, Nintendo hasn't yet done anything I truly wish they hadn't. I mean, they fixed Rare's general screwing-up of the Star Fox series in Adventures, so I'm good.

I think the penultimate What If is if the PlayStation sold as a SNES add-on if planned.
But the ULTIMATE WHAT IF IS....
If Atari distributed the NES in the USA!

That was their own fault, you know. It was supposed to be it's own game, but for whatever reason, Nintendo forced them to convert it into a Star Fox game. Huge mistake. As for your first What If, Whiskers, my guess is that the SNES CD ROM would've taken the place of the N64. Imagine what would've transpired after that...

There's no way the Virtual Boy would've ever replaced the N64. Game Boy, maybe, but not N64.

...It could've replaced the Game Boy, possibly. But I can't imagine a world where the VB didn't fail. After all, in large doses the colour red is known to provoke anger and frustration.

First off, this is no Classic Nintendo, it's a What if topic - not dedicated to VB.
Well...
What if they sold Twisted in Europe?
What if Nintendo partnered someone else than Namco as a Rare replacement? I mean... I don't really like the "Now-loading Company"!
What if Intelligent Systems made EVERY game? I want them to! Paper Mario styled Zelda (aka Paper Link)! Woo hoo!
What if they made Wii an "Oh game is not so insignificant and we'll discard the Channel idea and we aren't allied with Sega and Hudson and NEC and Opera and Adobe" console?
What if Nntendo used a standardized disc case for all region instead of not doing so until the Wii/DS (read: weeds) era?
What if they just made Lite in the first place instead of having two consoles with different button placement, creating confusion? Touched is designed for DS, Yoshi's Island DS is for DS Lite, and...
What if there is a Super Mario 64 2? Or Super Luigi 64?
What if 64DD was successful?
What if Wii supports higher resolution than 640*480? Why not make it 1440*1080 - or ven 1600*1200?
What if they do better SMB emulation than PC emulators? Applies for both Wii VC and Famicom Mini.
What if IntSys made an FE8 sequel?
What if Nintendo...?
What if... ----------------------------------------------------- What if YL didn't lose on every microgame? What if YL used a female Mii instead? What if YL didn't roll the ball backward every time he plays Wii Sports Bowling? What if YL didn't get crazy with everything IntSys? What if YL.. What if he... What if... What... Wh... W... W.. WARIOWARE!

Yea. Actually... the quality of games like FE8 or WW Touched are not as good as the others as the result of making games simultaneously. (They made FE8, FE9, the DS hardware, Twisted and Touched at the same time. FE9 turned out to be a huge success (for those looking for a game harder than FE5, anyway), but FE8 and Touched seemed inferior.)
Games by other developers are great and I agree with you (except I'm never into Pokémon, I like games by Game Freak as long as it's not RPG) but only those by IntSys are hilarious enough.

Yes, however, Nintendo had no hand in the fact that the game wound up a horrible cop-off of Ocarina of Time with God-awful voice acting and a hack-kneed story because Rare was more obsessed with making the game look pretty than making it play well (as all Rare games post-Goldeneye have been). It's also not Nintendo's fault that Falco was written out of the game for the most part and that Peppy was aged to the point of being a senile old coot. But, as I said, Nintendo has fixed these problems via Assault and Command, so I'm fine.

I think if the Star Fox stuff wasn't shoehorned int the game, it wouldn't have turned out as bad. I mean, could you imagine spending a few years making a game and then all of a sudden have to rework it to fit another franchise? I'd hate that. They probably messed up the Star Fox continuity out of spite.
Face it, if they just let it stay as Dinosaur Planet, both Rare fans and Star Fox fans would be happy. In fact, I think that big change is one of the factors that led to Rare losing it's key employees and eventually being sold by Nintendo.

Fox and Krystal's voices fitted well, and for once I didn't want to kill Slippy. The voice acting in Assault, however, makes me cringe almost non-stop. Coupled with the horribly OTT Power Rangers-style character movements... Blech.

I loved Assault. It was teh awzm.
I have Command now (came out last Friday here) but I'm still trying to get to grips with the whole strategic side of it. Bah. Give me straight shooting!
