In my gallery of pics at deviantART, I mostly have pics based on lesser-known Nintendo characters. The Xatu one isn't about an overlooked series, it was for Johan's Nidorino. The "Mike Jones from StarTropics is REAL" one isn't an artwork, but it was made just for comedic reasons. Here is the link to my deviantART gallery: parrothead1983.deviantart.com/gallery/It doesn't seem to show all of the pics in my gallery, so click on "Popular" to see more. NOTE: I know some of you already saw the pics in my gallery, but some of you haven't.

You have a strong style, that you do. I really like that Alice one that you posted a week ago, and the Starfy pics are great! ^_^

I check out all pics that turn up in my Watched gallery, and every time I look at yours I think I should do more Starfy and Tomato Adventure stuff. Though I still blame you for making me look at innocent little Alice's boobies! Shame on you!! That guy does look like Mike Jones though - give him some spikes and take the pic again. Hehehe.

Though I still blame you for making me look at innocent little Alice's boobies! Shame on you!! Teenage Alice's breasts vs an upskirt look at 10 year old Alice. (that was really on the boxart? Weird) All good stuff, parrothead.

This is what the cartridge (and box art) for the American version looks like: And this is what the box art for the Japanese version looks like: Isn't it just like comparing the boxart of Rockman 1 to the American boxart of MegaMan 1?

To be fair though, the art inside the Balloon Kid manual does look a lot more like the one on the Balloon Fight GB manual. Just like how Mega Man appears as he should appear in the Mega Man 2 manual, when on the American boxart he looks like some freak in a glossy metal suit.
Seriously... localisation back then was an absolute joke.

I actually own an NES copy of Mega Man II with manual. It's got the cute Mega Man we know and love inside, but that horrible, horrible monstrosity on the front. But you can also view PDF manuals here. Vimm's lair has loads of the buggers Skip to page 4 (page 9 of the manual itself) to see what I mean. Then compare to this: They don't have the Balloon Kid manual though - that's another one I own myself. I guess I could always scan that one in as well!

That looks like a poster for a bad sci-fi film.

I think it's excellent artwork, and on an offtopic note, I don't think that kid looks like mike. But seriously, pretty good artwork.

Not as much as Saturday Supercade Mario, though.

Not as much as Saturday Supercade Mario, though. In that Mexican box art, Mario wasn't two-headed, he was either looking up real fast or looking down real fast. And that odd creature above him wouldn't be Donkey Kong, it would be one of his barrels.

Gladly sir!! First, have some higher resolution boxart. Horrible, isn't it! The drawn artwork all appears in section 7, a double page spread of character introductions, suitably entitled "7. Introducing the Characters". Here's another pic! The following descriptions all come from the manual. My notes are in parenthesis. ALICE - The heroine JIM - Alice's mischievous younger brother SAMM - Alice's friend and eternal rival (Player II play as Samm in the multiplayer game) BEAKY BIRDS and POKEY PENGUINS - In the air and on the ground, Pokey and Beaky will bring you down. ( Hahaha, Pokey) FLOPPY FISH and FLICKY FROG - Sea to sea you better not blunder, because these two will pull you under. CHOW CHOW THE ALLIGATOR and WONKA THE WALRUS - With a bite like steel, these hungry boy's [sic] will want you for their meal. BUZZY BEES - Your balloons they will pop, and then you will drop. SPARKYS - Stunning to see, but shocking to me. BURNER BOYS - You better look, before you get cooked. WACKA WACKA WOLF - Get by this boss or Jim will always be lost.

Very interesting. I appreciate you FryGuy64 for uploading them. When I first saw Samm in 2-Player Mode, I thought he was Alice's younger brother. I wonder what Samm would of looked like in Balloon Fight GB's manual? Perhaps he would look more like one of the characters from that French cartoon, Littl' Bits.
Doesn't the manual also tell the game's plot, like how did Alice's brother, Jim, accidentally fly away from home? I assume the setting takes place in Pencilvania, which explains the pencil-shaped skyscrapers, while the name sounds exactly like the second state in the United States, Pennsylvania.
