It was a crisp, sunny day in the Mushroom Kingdom. Goomba kids could be seen running out in the streets in the outskirts of Toad Town, and the Toads themselves were preparing to open up their shops and sell their wares. One Toad was humming a sweet song about his "Toadantine" as he was hanging up today's special badges. Suddenly, a bright red ball covered with spikes bounced near his feet. He leaped in surprise, since it seemingly came from nowhere. It rolled around a bit before sticking into the nearby grass. Grumbling, the Toad resumed his song about his lovely Toad lass, unaware that the red ball was cracking open, and that more red balls were being tossed around the town as stealthfully as possible. It was the beginning of a very weird day for Toad Town...
OK, next up is Smashchu! You have until next Saturday to get your entry in. Have fun!
OH crap, I was the next entry. Been spacing out. Sorry for the lateness.
Natural, when everything takes a turn for the worse, Mario is called in to save the day................................but Mario was on vaction. Heroes need a break sometimes too. Of course, they had to go for the next best thing.
Luigi was awoken from his dream of being confirmed for Brawl when the phone rang. Luigi rolled onto the floor and then picked himself up and picked up the phone. "Luigi Luigi" the Toad said on the other line. "Help, Toad Town is under attack by giant red balls. Since we are toads, we can do anything but run around screaming. HELP UP". "OK" said Luigi "I'll get Mario". "No" replied the toad on the other line "We need YOU". Luigi stared blankly into space. "Luigi..........Luigi are you there". All he could say is "Ahhhh crap".

Was going to make a "change" American Kirby, but I'm not that skilled at Fireworks.
Luigi quickly thought to himself..."What would Mario do?" he wondered. Luigi sighed and realized he had to save the town. He started to get up but was quickly knocked down by a huge explosion! This explosion was caused by a large four-legged monster that seemed out of place. This monster was known as Dialga.
"Mama Mia!" Luigi cried, as Dialga trotted around the place, destroying houses and causing quite an uproar. Everyone was now more worried about this beast, than the spikey balls, which upon closer inspection, Luigi noticed they were Koopa Shells and were being tossed down by Lakitu's.
"What's wrong with everyone!" one Lakitu exclaimed. "They should be worried about the wrath of Bowser, and not some...pocket monster!

Hiding behind a sturdy pile of rubble, Luigi and a small group of Toads listened while the monster raged. Luigi racked his brains, trying desperately to think of a solution. The Toads weren't much help, finding solace in moaning. "We're doomed!" shouted one. "The situation is hopeless!" said another. "Luigi's useless, and no-one else can save us!" moaned a third. For the green hatted plumber, this was the last straw!
"USELESS, AM I?" he shouted with venom. An eerie green light started to emanate from him, and his eyes started to blaze with an inner fire. "We'll see about THAT!" he said, standing up and setting off towards the monster, seemingly growing with each step. The Toads watched him go, each one of them dumbstruck by his sudden change...
Meanwhile, things weren't going well in Bowser's castle either! "WHAT?!" screamed the lizard king at his unfortunate messenger. "T-t-they just aren't b-bothered, your mightiness" repeated the stuttering underling. "They're just t-too busy with this n-new monster to c-care about your l-l-latest campain" "Am I no longer feared?" pondered Bowser. "I blame your recent public appearences" answered his personal PR koopa. "I keep telling you; brand is everything! You need a serious image change. Move away from the whole 'buffoon' angle". "Yeah? YEAH!" agreed Bowser. "I need to be more ruthless! More foreboding! More EVIL! KAMEK!! Get my transport ready! It's time to show 'em who's boss!"
Nester the Lark: Hello, NinDB world! Post your shouts here! (But be careful not to wake the neighbors. )

nocturnal YL: Guys, guys! I can't believe what I found in Zelda 1! The game features an Elimination Mode that for some reason not many talked about! I wonder if it's fun? (Don't actually try it.)

nocturnal YL: Hey, I can edit shoutbox posts! This is already better than Twitter!

Nester the Lark: It seems like Cadence of Hyrule should be more popular than it is. Are people put off by the rhythm aspect? Or the randomly-generated maps?
Jul 24, 2020 14:01:59 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: ↑ Might warrant its own thread, but I think mixing rhythm and other genres usually resuls in gameplay too difficult for many. I can't handle it well either, judging from my scores in Dedede's Drum Dash.

nocturnal YL: ↑ For me personally, it simply hasn't been considered. It's a download-only game (until now) from a series I'm unfamiliar with and didn't feel like trying out.

Nester the Lark: Ironically, I did create a thread for Cadence of Hyrule, but then deleted it thinking there wouldn't be any discussion on it. Maybe I'll go ahead and make a new one.

Shrikeswind: Something to bear in mind about the shoutbox if you’re not already aware: It doesn’t show up on the mobile version of the forums. This shouldn’t be a major problem, but it can make it difficult to get into discussions for mobile visitors.
Jul 26, 2020 1:40:18 GMT -5
Shrikeswind: Also the more obvious character limit issues, and the format not really being conducive to longer-term discussion. It’s useful but limited; threads definitely still have their place.

Shrikeswind: (Honestly, Proboards mobile is pretty bad in general, but...)

Nester the Lark: Not sure if this works on all devices, but you can force the desktop version of the forum by scrolling all the way to the bottom and clicking the "Desktop" link at the lower right.

Shrikeswind: I’m aware. I’m typing this from my phone. I’m just pointing out that, for people who aren’t aware or who may be casually checking in on their phone, the shoutbox won’t be visible on

Shrikeswind: Is there a Discord for NinDB, by the way? It’s very popular with them there young’ns these days, so it might help activity.
Jul 26, 2020 22:07:47 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: There is no NinDB Discord. There was a brief discussion of it a few years ago, but nothing ultimately came of it. I rarely use Discord, myself.
Jul 27, 2020 8:58:28 GMT -5
Shrikeswind: Hm. Seems like it might be a good idea if activity picks up. Not to be a pessimist but I do have my doubts that'll happen though.

Shrikeswind: Okay not a Nintendo topic but I kinda need to talk about this because I just learned it and it's a thing so bleh.

Shrikeswind: You remember Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, right? So apparently, 5 year old me was incapable of discerning male and female in non-humans, because *apparently* there's a female gargoyle, and the goat's a boy.
