The three Toads watched as the Dialga flew through the air with Luigi clinging onto it for dear life. As the pair impacted Bowser's airship, a plume of dust and smoke enveloped the shenanigans, adding to the already hazy view.
"I can't see! What's happening?" the first Toad said.
"Maybe they're all dead, and their guts and stuff are splattered everywhere!" the second Toad said.
"I'm not cleaning it up," the third Toad said.
"What's-a going on here?" a light, familiar voice said behind them.
"Mario!" the three Toads said in unison, spinning around, "Er...Mario?"
Mario stood before them wearing a Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts, and a bright red face.
"Mario," the first Toad repeated, "what happened to you?"
"I got-a really bad sunburn. I can-a barely move."
"You gotta help us!" the first Toad said, "First, this big monster started tearing up the town!"
"Yeah," the second Toad said, "and then Bowser showed up in a totally pimped out airship!"
"And then that pig-thing came," the third Toad said, "And Luigi's right in the middle of it! Do something!" The Toad grabbed Mario's sunburned arm.
"GYAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mamma-mia, that hurts!"
"We're all gonna die!" the three Toads moaned melodramatically.
"Settle down," Mario said, "Don't worry about-a my brother Luigi. He's-a gonna... That is, he can... Er, he's-a very... tall. Hmm, maybe I should-a call the Plumber's Union."
"No time for that!" the first Toad said, "Look!"
The haze began to clear in the distance, and a figure emerged...

Good work Nester, it sounds like Mario used all his sunblock while he was on Isle Defino.

OK, our last name is Flip!
Here's how we're gonna work the ending: after Flip's had his go, I'll allow people to sign up for another draw, or if new people want to join then that would be the time. I'm already aware that Nester wants another go.
Then when we've sorted all that out, I'll do a draw of everyone who's already taken part, and that person will have the heavy task of finishing the story.
You've got until next Saturday Flip! Have fun!

I did send Flip a PM before that tho, and he did reply, but he may have forgotten again.

Mario held his hand over his eyes and squinted, mimicked by the three toads by his side. The figure they saw looming in the haze was none other than the saurian monster they just witnessed Luigi driving into the belly of the doomship, but where were the others? Dialga flexed its neck and hovered effortlessly above the ravaged town.
"I just don't get it, guys. They were there a minute ago!" said one of the three toads, shocked. "All that's left is a wisp of smoke and that... that... thing."
"It's like some sort of metal bodied dragon. It's indestructible! And did any of you notice the way its body looked when Luigi landed that blow? Like it was crying out in pain?" said the second toad.
"M-m-more like a ROAR of pain," shivered the third.
"Well, whatever it sounded like it was creepy," nodded the first toad nervously. "Mario, what do you think? Is it... plotting something? It just sort of sits there, hovering."
Mario, of course, was crouched in the fetal position muttering to himself about Luigi and cranberries or something like that (this author's too lazy to recall), but he stood up suddenly to point to the sky. "Hey, lookie there. It's-a not normal. The sky... She's-a transparent! Like a window!" And sure enough, the four bystanders peered up to witness a dark haze appearing behind Dialga where the doomship once flew. An image of destruction and devastation rocked the sky. "What... what is-a that?" shuddered Mario, frightened by the strange illusion appearing in the sky.
Dialga cracked its neck and looked down at Toad Town with its head at angle, then straightened up. As its body shimmered in the sky it began to flash blue and a great power welled up inside. The four heroes stood back, uncertain. And with a burst of sound that awoken even the sleepiest of Rip Van Fish, Dialga let out another roar as it rocketed towards earth.
But in a flash--an instant--Dialga disappeared. When the four uncovered their faces from the fear of imminent doom, the world around them looked different. Toad Town was deserted, scant banners and cloths strewn about the wreckage. The sky was cloudless and the air smelt of sulfur. There was nobody around.
"Guys...," said the middle toad. "I don't think we're in Mushroom Kingdom anymore." He sheepishly held up a hand and pointed to the sky. A lone helicopter buzzed far overhead, pink and incredibly non-aerodynamic. Strange flying creatures filled an area of the sky way off in the distance. And the familiar Toad Town waters were thick with muck, while foreign noises like writhing fish were heard bubbling below. And beyond the sights, following the toad's finger, was another vision to behold.
Arching above the once thriving town was a castle--but it wasn't the one the heroes were all familiar with. The smallest toad stepped backwards in awe and tripped, while Mario set into a low growl. Flying high above their beloved kingdom was a new banner: KOOPA!
And so the war for Mushroom Kingdom had begun...

Woo! Dialga teleports them to a dark future! This is awesome, and well worth the wait!
OK, so people who want to have another go are Nester, TV Eye, Savage Adam, and Darobot. Anyone else want to register interest before I do the next draw?
