Hahaha, you're kidding right? Worry about that when we haven't been expressly told it won't happen!!! No cartoons we've been told. I'm pretty sure you aren't actually worried about Mickey Mouse and Superman appearing in Smash Bros, so just give it a rest already! I don't understand how changing the concept of the game to include other companies characters is any different than changing the concept to include cartoon characters. Adding Mickey Mouse is EXACTLY like adding Solid Snake. There's nothing wrong with improving the functionality of a product. If their original concept was to make a car that caused all the people inside to have no idea where they were going, then they ruined the concept. Adding GPS isn't that big of change. It could even be considered an improvement on things already in the car. I think all cars have places to hold maps and stuff. Nintendo set out to make a game about Nintendo characters. Allowing other characters is destroying the original concept. Plus I don't think I ever said that changing the concept is always bad. (I'd have to read my posts again. Since I believe the change we are currently discussing was bad, I might have worded my sentences badly.) My two point were: 1.The concept of SSB has been changed. (IMO, changed to something worse, destroyed, or ruined) 2.Adding Snake is like adding Mickey. (Both would be equal changes to the original concept of SSB)

Flawless logic. Wait, what the hell is going on?
Nintendo set out to make a game about Nintendo characters.
And they succeeded brilliantly. Twice. Now they are setting out to make a different game.
As for your last somethingerather, I guess we assumed you were irked by the change considering you've been going around with this for awhile:
Solid Snake does not belong in Super Smash Bros!

Oh my, TtF, you're right. You've obviously thought this through completely. I won't buy SSBB now. In fact, I won't even buy a Wii because they took away the Control Pad - ruining the "concept" of a videogame console. And I won't play Super Mario 64 any more, because the "concept" of Mario games is 2D platformers, and by making it 3D they have ruined that "concept". Look... they have made a small change. If you don't like it, don't buy the bloody game. Stop talking about it, because your reasoning is faulty. The only way your reasoning works is if you accept that SSBB is ruined because Solid Snake is in it. Most, if not everyone else here, does not agree with this statement. So stop repeating yourself again and again and trying to base your fanboyish opinions on reason - because it doesn't work.

Fungus, why are you so worked up about this? Lets look at it this way.
So far there are 25 true characters from Melee(not including Sheik) and 4 for Brawl(not including ZSS) which makes 29. There will be between 30-40 characters in Brawl. Sp what other Nintendo characters will be added
Secondary characters. Riddley and Diddy are most likely A new pokemon or two. Maybe a new Mario character like Toad More characters from other franchise. Lucas(from Mother 3) or an FE character New franchise characters like Lip and Olimar. Maybe a AC character
So if all of those make it in(1 Pokemon) thats 9 max which makes the total 38. Keep in mind this is a max number and includes Snake. If we remove 3rd party then we have a max of 37. I wouldn't expect all of these to make it in, plus some characters from Melee will be removed so the number gets smaller.
Now 3rd party helps fill the gaps. Now we can add 2 more ccharacters. Also not all the one I said will make it. Those are the more likely ones. Also Sakurai sai there would only be 2 more at the most. Snake could be it. Also is has to be unlocked with all the other guest so if you dont want to, dont unlock him.
The point is your being irrasional. So theres one 3rd party character. At the most they may take up 10%. Rememebr Link was a guest in Soul Caliber and it sold the best of all versions.

Let's see....Maybe all 25 to be back, as I heard that Sakurai doesn't have enough guts to remove things(Nope, I can't confirm it, and I don't believe it too much; if it's true then he'd keep all stages from the 64 version! =P). Although it is pointeless to talk about it now as it's too early to do so, I think there will probably be about 35~40 characters and about 30 stages.
And about the 3rd party thing, I don't think it's a good idea about it now.... It seems that crossover between companies is a trend. Did you protest against Zelda is SCII or Mario, Luigi and Peach in a few EA sport games at first?
Although, again, it's too early to say anything.
EDIT: Hey...... I've thought of a question.... Most of the MGS games are for the PS series, right? If Sakurai accepts him in a Nintendo-themed game..... they must be having some "special" relations. Gwa ha. (Although, I'd say Kojima is quite shameless, asking Sakurai to put in a character that has been active on PS series.)

How come nobody's brought Square-Enix into this? They've gotten Mickey Mouse and everyone else from Disney in their Kingdom Hearts games. And why are you talking about Mickey being in Brawl anyways? He's every inch of not a game character. Maybe if Square-Enix would agree on this, some FF characters may make it (Mario Hoops 3-on-3/Slam Basketball, anyone?). Maybe. And of course, having both Mario and Dr. Mario playable is like having both a normal Yoshi and a Winged Yoshi playable.

And of course, having both Mario and Dr. Mario playable is like having both a normal Yoshi and a Winged Yoshi playable. But Winged Yoshi wouldn't have kickass music. Doc definately needs to leave his music and get out, though (or even better, stay as an alternate costume for Mario - alternate costumes for the absolute win).

I heard he said Doctor Mario was in there because he wanted the music in there. Seems like overkill... after all, they had the Mach Rider music in there without Mach Rider...

Ohnomachrideryoucannotuseyourmotorbikebecauseithasbeensabotaged omgthenhowamItodefeatthequadrunners?! Ahem, Adventure Mode should be its own thing. It could use bosses, too. Like in a Metroid-themed stage, probably Ridley, Kraid, or the Queen Metroid from Metroid II for GB.

I am SO hoping for a full Adventure Mode game. Sakurai has said he wants to develop one, and I would like him to go all-out with it.
Though I expect the bosses will predominantly be the characters in the game, I hope he mixes it up a bit.

How about some newer Metroid-themed stages, like from MPH and MP3?

When have I ever said that I wasn't planning on buying a Wii/SSBB or that anyone else shouldn't? Most of my posts in this topic haven't even referred to the concept change negatively. All I've been saying is that the concept of an All Nintendo fighting game has been destroyed. If you wanted an All Nintendo game then this is bad. If you want a game that has other characters then this is good. DiU said Snake didn't ruin the concept of SSB because he was instantly recognizable, well-loved, and improved the variety of great characters. I couldn't figure out how being recognizable and well-loved made you fit into a All Nintendo fighting game concept. So I brought up a character that I guessed most people didn't want in SSB, but was instantly recognizable and well-loved.
