The list does lack 'punch' if you just look at what we haven't seen yet... but if you look at the entire list, and try and forget what we already know, theres plenty of 'punch' there. And even though there's only 3 'new' characters, if there really are no clones, then there will be a total of 6 characters that are going to have new movesets. Personally, I'm choosing to believe it. At the very least, if its wrong, it'll probably be just as good, if not better, than this list, so I won't be dissapointed. You make a good point. But I think it makes a gap. Wolf and WW Link are poor choices by them selves. Wolf is pretty generic and WW Link is just a copy of Link. But add some spice, like Ridley or Krystal, and they look a lot better. Much better, and now they also round out the roster, and not the other way around. I would be kind of upset with no Krystal. It's a unique fighter and finally a female that would be justifiable rather then "She's a woman. We need more". Ridley would also be nice just for the crazy playstyle he could have. As far as the list goes, I'm not going to care. If it's true it's true. If it's not it's not. I think that it might not happen becuase of R.O.B. Since he's a subspace enemy, he doesn't seem that he'll be playable.

I am not disappointed with just 12 unlockables. I am disappointed that 9 unlockables are veterans and only 3 are newcomers.
Compared to SSB64's 4 unlockables, only one out of those four is already spoiled (Luigi) so Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, and Ness were nice surprises.
With Melee's 13 unlockables, only two out of those 13 are veterans, leaving the rest to surprise you with the likes of Marth, Dr. Mario, Pichu, and especially Mr. Game & Watch.
But with Brawl's 12 unlockables, only three out of 12 are newcomers... and one of them is a replacement and one is a semi-clone, leaving R.O.B. to be the only WTF unlockable.
I am sorry but that's how I feel about unlockables. One of the reasons I enjoyed unlocking characters in SSB64 and SSBM was because most of them were very surprising and/or unexpected.. but in Brawl, it is like the only surprising and unexpected unlockable is R.O.B.

THAT LIST ISN'T REAL!!!!!

If you're going to argue that WW Link would just be a copy of Link, rather than having his own moveset, then I could argue that Ridley would only be a Charizard clone anyway. I mean, both would be ignoring a potentially good moveset, but both could work.
I find it hard to argue that Krystal wouldn't be better than one of Wolf / Falco, though. Without knowing what their movesets are (or are supposed to be), I can't really say, but the only moveset I can think of that is different from Fox is a 'heavy artillery' type moveset. That works for 1, but I'm not sure what the other will have, so it'll probably be a bit of retreaded ground. No doubt a new, staff-based moveset would be better than that.

R.O.B. from Star Fox? Fox and Falco. Okay. Wolf instead of Krystal, ugh... but okay. But R.O.B. from Star Fox?! What justifies Star Fox having four characters? Even if Fox, Falco, Wolf, and Krystal are all playable, what justifies Star Fox having four representatives? And better yet, what is the justification for R.O.B. from Star Fox to be playable?

Good point DiU.
If Ness and Lucas are both going to be playable... and if Fox and Wolf are both going to be playable... and we all know Mario and Luigi both WILL be playable... and they are likely going to play similar.... what's the problem with Link and WW Link both being playable?

Link and WW Link might be the same 'person' (or not), but they're way more different than Mario / Luigi, Ness / Lucas and Fox / Falco / Wolf. So I don't see how he's the problem.

Well, Link in Brawl is from TP and Young Link in Brawl would likely be from WW.... and we know that TP Link and WW Link are two different Links.... while Link in Melee is from OOT and Young Link in Melee is from OOT.... and we know that OOT Link and OOT Young Link are one same Link.
Oh, and Ganondorf and Captain Falcon are not the same person, so.....

I'm not buying that roster... not because I don't want to believe it, but because I don't believe it until I see it.
Maybe this whole Daily weekday updates thing was a bad idea. Kinda ruined the surprise. We're so used to the idea of Meta Knight and Pit that they hardly seem like new characters to me anymore, even though I haven't played as either of them. I've known about them for almost 2 YEARS. Now we're talking about the roster not having any 'punch' to it.... when we've got characters like PIT from FRIGGIN KID ICARUS and Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid and Sonic the damn hedgehog.... we've got King DeDeDe.... Ice Climbers didn't get cut.... this roster has ALOT of kick to it.... but since we've been following the news everyday since May 06, that kick wore off I guess.
Think about the excitement well all had everytime a new character was revealed on the dojo. It happened many times... Ike was the first.... Pokemon Trainer and Diddy.... every new character was a big event. Imagine if, we got all that excitement all at once? Yeah I know.... I like the dojo too... but now everybody's saying they're dissapointed with the roster.... maybe even the game? Would it have been better if we had no dojo, no trailers, now demos and just waited till the game came out? Would the excitement have been exponential?
Like... OMG LOOK AT ALL THESE NEWCOMERS.... all at once? Instead of getting used to the idea for months... YEARS in advance.

That's true...you are right, NinjaRygar. When Melee was announced on May 2001 (I think), we were excited about the game and got the game on Decemeber 2001. And we still was excited with the newcomers because we found out about the newcomers after we got the game. But with Brawl, it was announced in May 2006... so we were excited about the game... and only knew five newcomers. But after the Dojo revealed seven more newcomers, we got even more excited and hoped that the unlockable newcomers would be more exciting.... and what do we get? Mewtwo's replacement, Fox's semi-clone, and a SSE enemy among tons of old characters we had been playing with for the last six years. And the newcomers already announced are really awesome but the excitement has worn out like you said.

I agree totally. When I first saw that trailer in 2006 (!) I didn't think it'd take until 200-friggin-8 for it to come out. And how many delays have there been? Ugh!

Link and WW Link might be the same 'person' (or not), but they're way more different than Mario / Luigi, Ness / Lucas and Fox / Falco / Wolf. So I don't see how he's the problem. Yeah, but those characters aren't the same person. WW Link and Link are the same person, to a tee. You can put a fancy hat on a dog but it's still a dog. That's what my problem is. I'm fine if I get some variant characters and WW Link. Then he'll feel special. But with generic Wolf and ROB of all people he feels bland. I'm also not buying the roster since I found out it's ROB from Starfox.
