BUMPAGE WITH POSSIBLE SPOILERAGE READ AT YOUR OWN RISKAGE With the news of 3 characters seemingly being in, and 1 seemingly being out, (LAST CHANCE TO BAIL OUT FOR SPOILERS), I think its worth noting that ChoasZero's leak still 'works' (stolen from thread smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=135778 at Smashboards). Then theres NyaseNya. They correctly predicted the Sonic update (and the right day) before it was posted. However, whats also interesting is that in the neogaf Smash leaks thread www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=227646 (now locked) one poster (Markman) that is supposedly in the know, (and is backed up by a few other members who also seem to be in the know) states the number of characters ( 35), the number of stages ( 41), and that Wolf and Falco are playable while Ridley and any other 3rd party character aren't playable. This gels with Chaos Zero and/or NyaseNya. There was also another leaker on GameFAQs that I can't seem to find, but also said the same amount of characters, and certain ones being in / out. EDIT: So putting all these together, playable characters are Ness (in), Lucario (in), Wolf (2 sources) Falco (2 sources), Ganondorf, Captain Falcon, Mr Game & Watch, Wind Waker Link, and Jigglypuff (in). And Mewtwo (evidently out), Ridley and Megaman / any other 3rd party character) aren't. ...so, what do we think? I mean, I hate to actually listen to these damn things, but it seems to me like all the pieces, including ones that I initially viewed as "can't be true" (ie 3 starfox characters) seem to quite possibly be true.

Have any of these people said anything about Krystal being in the game? I can't really think how Wolf would be in the game.

Another roster has appeared. This one works with all the above, and seems to be backed up by each of the 'in the know' posters on Neogaf. I think this could really be it.
If true, its not a bad list, though I'm a bit sad about some of the characters that missed out, particularly with some of those making it in. Oh, and if ROB is really a Starfox ROB, rather than R.O.B., that really is a fuckload of Starfox characters... Nintendo would have to have big things planned for the series for that to be 'justified' (so to speak).

I bear a lot of issue with those lists. They're more just rumor mongering; the proper Star Fox pecking order doesn't flow like that. Especially lately! It took four games for ROB64 to get any kind of candy (for the record, the moment passes very quickly in the final boss fight in Star Fox Assault, and then once again to a lesser degree in the final cutscene...wherein Team Star Fox pretty much forgets about him anyway, lamenting Peppy and Star Wolf's "deaths").
And what's with this sudden upsurging of Wolf fans? He's alright, but nothing spectacular. Again, had to wait for Assault to roll around for him to get a personality beyond being the Bad Version of Fox.
I don't buy those leaked rosters.

I think it's off, and I'm hoping it's not true. Seems kind of bland. Wolf and R.O.B. I also would like to see Krystal and Ridley, but that's a personal thing. Also thinks it rounds out the roster well.
I wonder if I should spoil it.

It's not a BAD roster. It lacks any serious punch like we were expecting, however. We GOT all the cool stuff already, basically.

Beyond the ones we know and Lucario, it's pretty bland. R.O.B., Wolf and WW Link seem like poor, uninteresting choices. One or two mixed in with sonme variety would be nice but not all together.

I don't believe these lists. It's just a bunch of idiots trying to fool people. The only one I believe is myself. Until I see the character, I won't believe they're in. (The How To Play video showed the other characters, so I believe that.)

The list does lack 'punch' if you just look at what we haven't seen yet... but if you look at the entire list, and try and forget what we already know, theres plenty of 'punch' there. And even though there's only 3 'new' characters, if there really are no clones, then there will be a total of 6 characters that are going to have new movesets.
Personally, I'm choosing to believe it. At the very least, if its wrong, it'll probably be just as good, if not better, than this list, so I won't be dissapointed.

My excitement for Brawl went out of the window after I read these spoilers. The final roster definitely lacks the punch. Just 35? And we already know 23 (not counting ZZS and Sheik). So that's 12 unlockables.
The final roster would have seemed more exciting if Ike, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy Kong, Snake, Lucas, Sonic, King Dedede, and Pikmin & Olimar were unlockables along with Lucario, Wolf, and R.O.B. That would make unlocking characters more exciting.
Instead we get to unlock tons of veterans and only three newcomers. What's the surprise in unlocking characters you already played with in the past?
The original Smash's unlockables were exciting because you got to unlock Jigglypuff, Ness, and Captain Falcon. That's three surprise characters. Luigi wasn't that surprising since you fought him in the Classic Mode anyway.
Even Melee's unlockables were more exciting than Brawl's because you get to unlock some surprise characters like Marth, Roy, Pichu, Dr. Mario, and especially Mr. Game & Watch. And out of Melee's 13 unlockables, only two were veterans. In Brawl, you unlock who? Mewtwo's replacment and Fox's semi-clone and a robot enemy from the SSE among NINE veterans.
I could look past excluding Sukapon, Muddy Mole, Meowth, Little Mac, Toad, and Ridley.... but no Krystal? No Geno? No Takamaru? No Mii? No Animal Crossing character? Not even a third third-party character? This sucks.... and there is not even a Duck Hunt AT nor a sticker and I am not even upset that Duck Hunt Dog is not playable since I knew it was a pipe dream.
Ugh. I wanted representatives for the newer franchises, not more representatives for the older franchises. Having both Ness and Lucas seems unnecesary. Sakurai might as well throw in Ninten as a playable character so each Mother game has a representative. Why Sakurai, why?
I am still buying the game even with the lackluster unlockables, though. And I am going to have Jigglypuff beat the crap out of Lucario for replacing Mewtwo and Wolf for getting in over Krystal.
At least Young Link is in and he's cel-shaded. So that disproves the "but the graphics don't fit" argument.
Sorry for ranting but I just had to get it out, you know?

I don't see a bit of proof of that roster being any more credible than any other.

The only proof is that Lucario, Ness, and Jigglypuff are in, according to the screenshots shown. But that's it. But Mewtwo out? I hope not. I loved playing as Mewtwo even though he is the lowest of the lowest tiers (at least he sucked in his original way unlike Pichu).

Whats the obsession with needing to have a bunch of unlockable characters? I mean, I get it, its fun to earn a character, and see that 'CHALLENGER APPROACHING' screen, but, after that, who really cares? Personally, since I plan on having a few friends over on Brawl's release, I'd much rather have a good majority of characters, including the newcomers, unlocked from the start, so that when we pop in the game, we aren't just playing with what we have been for the last 5 years (prepares to be todd'd). Yes, it might have been cool to have, sa,y Pokemon Trainer as a surprise character, but that ship sailed long ago, when they started the daily updates. If you truely wanted to be surprised when the game ships, you would have avoided the dojo and all news about this game - and then you would have gotten your crapload of surprising characters and you wouldn't be complaining. And the only reason this roster is seemingly more credible than any other roster, or at least is to me, is that a number of sources which seem like they would be reliable all work with it, with no contradictions at all. Does that necessarily make it true? Nah. But it surely makes the chances of it being true at least seem higher.

blah blah blah, wall of text. Arcadenik, don't lose yourself now, it's still a rumor. It's not like it's Nintendo saying it, I mean ROB? C'mon.
