If I'm not mistaken, Mario had a Luigi costume with a green shirt and hat, and blue overalls...I think I saw it in an E For All video.
I could be wrong, though, I don't have the best memory.

It's probably the green shirt, brown overalls costume.

How did we get stuff like Kirby's alternate costumes with no playable Kirby? I mean, its probably a safe assumption he has his old colours, but....

Well, that one clearly has the brown overalls...but in the video after that, he went through Mario's colors quickly, and the green costume looked more like it had blue overalls...so yeah, my mistake.

It's a safe assumption that Kirby keeps his old colors, so I just tacked them on. Sakurai said there'd be 6 alternate colors, making 7 total. Kirby had enough, but still room for one more (maybe).

The exact quote is "about six different color variations," meaning there may be more than six...so it's perfectly plausible that Kirby has seven different colors. We just don't know yet XD

I finally added those to the main post. I didnt' add Kirby's though.... I know it's safe to assume, but... well.... assuming is no fun.
That's about it for now I guess, until we get more updates.

Visual confirmation on the Metroid Assist Trophy. You can see it in this video.

Huh! Listening to that video, Yoshi gets a Starman--and the original SMB version of the Invincibility song starts playing, not remixed or anything. Nice. XD
It also looks like the Metroid doesn't hunt anyone down, it just latches onto anyone that gets knocked into it. It looks like you have to attack it in order to break free.
And it appears that Peach's parasol changes colors along with her costume, since it was orange while she was wearing the Daisy costume.
In this video you can see Diddy Kong do the cartwheel move from Donkey Kong Country around the 8 second mark. Also nice.
