Kirby's Block Ball:

NinDB tells it was developed by HAL Laboratory, English Wikipedia tells it was both developed by HAL and Nintendo R&D1, Japanese Wikipedia and VG Chartz say the game was developed by TOSE. Who made it??

Tose work on many games entirely uncredited. They basically hire out staff to help development teams who need more staff - and they've worked on hundreds and hundreds of games (Legend of Stafy was actually the first time they were given the option to create their own game and share rights to it - Nintendo's lovely sometimes).

On the other two though, Nintendo works on nearly EVERY game on NinDB. Metroid Prime, for example, wasn't exclusively developed by Retro Studios, but a combination of Retro and Nintendo. Argonaut developed Star Fox the game, but Nintendo created the story, characters, and tweaked the game to make it more playable. I could pick ANY game on the site and this would be true. Where it isn't, I tend to be removing the game pages

I noticed that Kirby's Block Ball is nowhere mentioned on HAL Laboratory's website (e.g. the works list). How could that happen, did they forget the game or something?? However, the Finnish Nintendo website tells that Block Ball was developed by HAL. Odd that HAL's website doesn't feature the game in any way.

By the way, the Finnish website also tells almost all EU release dates of the Nintendo-published titles which are still partly missing, but I'm pretty sure Fry already collected all the dates for the relaunch, didn't he?

I have managed to put together a near-complete list of European release dates now. Mostly from European official websites and archived versions of those websites. There's still a few games missing that I know were released over here (the benefits of living here!) but it's better than nothing.

That Block Ball omission... just looked into it. The game is listed as being developed by Tose on the Japanese Wikipedia. That might explain it.

Several major European Nintendo sites (including nintendo.co.uk, nintendo.de and nintendo.fr) are blocked from being archived in the Internet Archive, or do you talk about another archive? Anyway, I'd be interesting to know why NoE prevents its sites from being archived, while the "other Nintendos" don't.

I don't think the major ones ever had a list of old PAL games. I found most of mine on old Scandinavian sites, I believe.

Aha, I see. Even today, the Finnish site has a list of old titles. While Nintendo of America and Australia just removed all old games from their sites with their relaunches (NoA even still had small pages on NES games before that). Nintendo of Europe kept at least most of the games from their former site (but I wonder how long, I noticed that some old titles did already just disappear). Nintendo of Japan's site is the only one which still has pretty much everything from the start (aside from Famicom/Disk System games, since those never had pages as far as I know).

America and Europe's sites are harder for me to navigate. Unlike in Japan, where you can just select a console and a list will appear, you have to take a lot of steps for the overseas sites.

The Japanese site seems to be declining though, with game pages now telling things less impressive (the Smash Bros Doko is the most decent thing I've seen for a period) - although they do seem better even more recenlty. Nintendo Online Magazine now contains very little besides interviews.

Thanks for that one. Although I will point out that's not a grammar error... it's a factual error
