However, you can actually play those (Not to mention the Mario games have better story) Did you just say Mario games have a better story than Metal Gear Solid? I can't tell if you are joking or not. I wasn't even aware Mario games had a story aside from rescue the princess! Honestly, I wish I was. Metal Gear games are notorious for having laughable stories. Generally, they try to be overly metaphorical, and the point is mute becuase the chain of events and happenings are so ridiculous, not to mention it takes it's meaning way to seriously. Not to mention they like the repeat the same thing a lot. Mario stories are better becuase they are simple, and to the point. Mario needs to save the princess from Bowser. Bowser makes some kind of plan, and Mario needs to go save her. They explain exactly why you are doing it and never get in the way. Metal Gear stories are worse, usually being confusing, and generally get in the way of gameplay. MGS1 was at least ok in this department, but it's gotten a lot worse really quickly. Ummmmm, NO Sales of Brawl were totally unaffected by Snake's or Sonic's entry into Brawl. It's at about Melee's lifetime sales and is slowing down. It will probably hit 7 million and stop. Despite the Wii having a higher install base and adding third party characters, the game is doing about as well as Melee. They don't have to add any third party characters. None of them changed games sales. All the people who orgasmed were people who were going to buy the game anyway. Sales of Wii are becuase of lower price, Nintendo name brand, the casual crowd, and games like Mario Kart and Wiifit. Not Snake, by any means. Sorry to bust your chops so much.

I like games with shitty stories and superior gameplay too, Mario, Megaman and (early) Sonic games come to mind. MGS1 was rad though, mostly because it had ingame cutscenes and motherfucking voiceacting! This was new compared to Mario 64's text boxes. Then MGS4 rolled around and some dead guy takes over another guy's body by attaching it's arm to his body and I don't know what the hell they've been smoking.
Still think it's funny that people despise the franchise mainly because Snake appeared in Nintendo's Brawl. People would probably be all over God of War (boring hack 'n slash, you do nothing but mash buttons!) if Kratos would somehow get in.
Anyway about Captain Rainbow, does this game have a exact releasedate yet? I'll be importing this one on day of release, despite not being able to read a lick of Japanese, woot.

Despite ragging on MGS, the first one was defiantly a revolutionary game. It showed that games can be cinematic, and it did well for an early stealth game. Some time in August. I think the 28th. If we will see it, expect March at the earliest.

Wait. Are people actually suggesting that MGS3 didn't have one of the greatest video game storylines ever? Care to explain? Snake is not even Konami's mascot character and all his games follow the same base: Awesome Sneaking Gameplay-Awesome Cutscene-Awesome Sneaking Gameplay some more-Repeat. Fixed

Not to mention they like the repeat the same thing a lot. That's not true at all. Metal Gear's stories are widely acclaimed as the best stories in the gaming industry, and often praised for rivalling (and surpassing) the plotlines of Hollywood movies. I've never known the events of them to be ridiculous, they have some of the most meticulous continuity I've ever seen, and use a massive amount of science and real-life events to lend credibility to themselves. In short, I spit at your post.

I don't want to sound like a dick, but Smashchu, it seems to me like you're just bullsh itting your statistics. First, here's a source vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Super+Smash+Bros&console=&publisher=&sort=TotalRight now, Brawl is still under Melee, and it's moving slowly. The European launch has helped weekly sales, but they will eventually cool off. Thing is, the third party characters did nothing to help the sales of the game, and why should it. The people who would be excited about this would not be new buyers, but people who owned Melee and are fans of the franchise. Thusly, Snake being in Brawl could possibly not increase the sales of Wiis. The Wii has numerous reasons why it's doing so well, but I doubt Snake is anywhere in the equation. If Brawl has no third party characters, then it would still sell well as they did, and I'm talking about Brawl and the Wii.

You obviously haven't been here long. You obviously haven't been here long enough to know how it once was. (and when I was a semi-spammer). I um...don't know what you're talking about... *ahem* Smashchu, you have to realize. Melee has been out for seven years, and Brawl's only been out for a couple months, yet its already surpassed Melee sales in Japan. I seriously doubt when people saw that first trailer at E3 '06, that they were like "Oh wow! Wario! I need to get a Wii to play this game!" I myself have always been a Playstation fan. I actually considered buying a PS3 (Thank God I didn't). I thought about getting a 360 since all my friends had one (and apparently the online is good or something ). Anyways, as an avid MGS fan, I saw Snake and shat myself (not literally of course). My quest for a choice of system had ended. I wanted a Wii. I seriously doubt I wasn't the only one. Later, I played Melee (never had a Gamecube) to tide myself over and thought, "Wow, Nintendo has a colorful history!" So, yeah. I got interested. Anyways, Captain Rainbow. Yup...he'll never leave Japan.

Don't mean to take this thread away from Captain rainbow again but.... Dumb statements like this are hard to ignore... Metal Gear games are notorious for having laughable stories. That's like saying Mario is notorious for having shitty controls. There's probably one idiot out there who thinks so... but everybody knows better than to listen to him. Smashchu... you're not that guy. You know better. Don't say something is notorious for something.... when the opposite is true.

I think Captain Rainbow WILL see at least a European release. Not sure about North America, but then again we never thought Chibi Robo would make it out of Japan either. At least, I never did. So who knows. NOA must realize there is a small growing fanbase amidst their core audience for this game. They responded really well to the whole Ouendan craze, after all.

They responded really well to the whole Ouendan craze, after all. Yeah, and see how that turned out. Sales were terrible for Elite Beat Agents. I bought it, and I convinced my friend to buy it. It was an excellent game with mediocre exposure. That's what I hate about NoA. They don't realize that non-gamers will not buy games unless they see them in action, and they only see them on commercials. Therefore, no commercials=few sales.

Smashchu, you have to realize. Melee has been out for seven years, and Brawl's only been out for a couple months, yet its already surpassed Melee sales in Japan. I seriously doubt when people saw that first trailer at E3 '06, that they were like "Oh wow! Wario! I need to get a Wii to play this game!" Here is the thing Something like ading a third party character will probably not greatly affect sales. I'm sure the majority of people knew they were buying SSB3 before it was even announced. One thing with Melee is it sold slowly though it's entire life. Brawl sold great and is starting to cool down. Of course, it may be too early to tell, and I don't have Melee's numbers week by week. The thing I dfo know is Brawl is looking like it might start halting. But, if Brawl sales beat Melee's, it wont necessarily be Snake or Sonic being the reason for the boost. It is more likely due to the Dojo, the Wii's larger install base, and the fact that Smash Bros games always go up in sales. Well, there was a commercial, but your right in that NoA is bad on advertising. A lot of Nintendo franchises do well with little advertising becuase they are well known names. But when a new game or new opportunity arises, they always come up short. NoA is bad at realizing that games need advertising to do well. There needs to be some kind of effort. This is why games go belly up to often.
