I think Nintendo is smart enough to not let Uwe Boll near any of their works. In fact, mentioning Uwe Boll at this point is preaching to the choir.

A Zelda or Metroid film would be awesome, but they'd probably have to change the story drastically to make them fit as films.
For example, I think a Zelda film would work as a team movie - Link finding the Master Sword, but unwittingly leading Ganondorf to the Triforce, so he travels the country persuading seven sages to join him in the battle, in a world now devoid of hope. Lots of opportunities for character relations and interactions along the journey.

I can't really think of Nintendo games that would make a good movie. Earthbound is too obscure to get any Hollywood effort behind it. Maybe Star Fox...but it pretty much has to be animated. I think the original Resident Evil could have been a good movie, but that's already been raped all to hell.
Speaking of zombies, Dead Rising could be a good movie, as long as the director didn't take it seriously. The game itself is an homage to B-movie zombie films and the adaptation should be too.
I know they're making a Metal Gear Solid movie based on the first game, but I think the only Metal Gear Solid game that would make a good movie is the third one. It has the least convoluted plot in my opinion. It's Big Boss Snake infiltrating the Soviet Union, everyone double crossing everyone (Hollywood loves that hobo), and an amazing ending.
If you're willing to play around with the story, Castlevania (which I've heard they ARE making and decided a sword would be cooler than a whip...which means it's NOT Castlevania) and Grand Theft Auto IV could be movies.
Max Payne, one of my favorite shooters, is getting a movie and it's probably going to suck. But if it doesn't, there might be some hope for the video game adaptation movie.
Can we include TV show ideas? How about a medical procedural Dr. Mario? "How's my mother, doctor?" "I'm sorry, your mother isn't going to make it. She's in the late stages of red virus. Giving her any medication runs the risk of her suffocating on pills and viruses."

Had Star Fox been made into a movie back in the 90s, then it should've been done entirely using puppets and stuff built by the Jim Henson Creature Shop. That would've been awesome incarnate.

Just replyin': Well said. I don't think ANY Tim Burton movie isn't significantly creepy in some form. The problem with a Zelda movie is that's it's so saturated with fan-made trailers with supergeek cosplayers...and it has to be completely different from "Legend" (also directed by Ridley Scott). Because there are already clay EarthBound figurines? Wait, is Pauline male now? I remember my theater putting out a trailer for a Yu-Gi-Oh movie (it was anime). Never heard from it ever again. What happened to it? Like "Dumb and Dumber"? Funny, I think it would like the fox guy in this one:

I've given some thought to a Zelda movie. Here's my outline for the film.
To start off, Link is living in a village unaware that he's anything special. A visitor comes and sees Link's hand. The visitor is really a sage and tells Link that he is destined to defeat Ganon. Link thinks that he's made a mistake, but the sage convinces him and gives him the master sword.
While traveling, he's attacked by a bunch of monsters. He fights, but is getting overwhelmed. Suddenly, a mysterious young man goes to his aid. It's Sheik! Shiek reveals that he too, is destined to help defeat Ganon and tells Link that he needs to find the Triforce of Courage before facing Ganon.
The two go on some sort of adventure here to figure out where to find the Triforce of Courage. During this adventure, Sheik should get kidnapped and be revealed to actually be Zelda. At this point, Link should go to a cave or dungeon where the Triforce of Courage is. To win it, he must battle Dark Link, the embodiment of all the evil within himself.
Upon winning the Trifoce, Link has what he needs. He defeats Ganon and rescues Zelda. Peace comes over the land. The end.

Just found the Mario anime movie. It's surprising how "official" the character designs look.
(except for Luigi)

Er no, nothing like Batman. It's based off of Alien and Samus does have a backstory. But BATMAN? Eh, well her parents were killed when she was a child and she becomes a hero... Sorta like Batman hmm? I would say do it in actual order. Ridley's raid on K-2L and Samus would be introduced there, Old Bird would pick her up and then you'd begin. Galactic Federation would come into play after we see Samus growing up and Mother Brain. Yeah but that's the thing, if we played it in order, the parts where Samus is on Zebes fighting the baddies would be nothing but straight action with no talking or stopping. You need to break up the action with story and keep the viewer interested. That's why I think it would be good to start it when the Federation assigns her to go on Zebes. While she's there on Zebes, she sees ruins of the Chozo and goes into flashbacks. The viewer then pieces the parts together of the mysterious Samus and find out who she is throughout the movie.

The similarities end there, and Batman isn't the only hero in existence that has that backstory.

Remember the bazookas in the reality Super Mario Bros. movie? Most likely they are Super Scopes. They were added to advertise the peripheral. To prove it, watch this Japanese commercial for it.

I'm pretty sure anyone who's already covered the SMB movie already knows about that, Parrot. It sure ain't gonna save the movie from being horrible adaptation-wise.

I actually think a pikmin movie would be quite interesting. And it's not complete without the spaceship's dialogue.

Eh... I'm pretty sure that would be the most boring video game movie ever.
No, wait... Tetris. That would be the most boring movie ever.
