Here are a couple concept Pokemon I've been working on. Just some food for thought.
An ant-based Bug-type. It's your first-catch bug like Caterpie and such. Evolves from a thin worker to a beefy soldier to a thin and winged flying ant, another Bug/Flying.
A robin-based Flying-type. Preferably JUST Flying, but likely as not a dual-type Flying/Normal. Would evolve twice like Pidgey and Starly.
A chipmunk-based rodent. Single evolution, Normal-type. Like previous rodents. Fully evolved, it'd look a bit like a meerkat as well.
Worked out a Post-Elite Four bad-ass based on the legendary Basilisk. First ever Poison-type Legendary, being Poison/Dragon.

Well I always try to think up new type combos that haven't been done before and then try to think of what Pokemon they would be.
Normal has an extreme lack of combos. They only have it with Flying, Psychic, and Water so far. So I came up with these Normal + combos.
Normal/ Ice: Polar Bear Pokemon. Because of this combination, this Pokemon is very weak against Fighting. However it has incredible defense and HP. It's great stats make up for its poor type combo.
I have more but I don't want to bore you.

You have at least one person interested.
I like looking at Cryptids for some unused type-combos. I've thought of one for the Amarok (Ice/Fighting,) the Chupacabra (Dark/Bug,) the Garou (Normal/Fire,) and Lizard People (Dragon/Fighting.)

There's a load of unused type combos. A flaming snake for Fire/Poison would own. Not to mention, Flip had tons of ideas on his DeviantART. I especially like his Ghost/Fire type jack-o-lantern.

Now, while that's pretty awesome, a jack-o-lantern seems like a Ghost/Grass to me.
Poison/Electric? Let's try a Metroid.

My fellow users at #tmk came up with a Ghost/Steel type that started out as a floating sword. Then I decided it can evolve into a full suit of armor. ;D
I had some other ideas, but I'd have to find them first. Memory's a tad hazy.

I have a few of these, too. Maybe we should do a thread for that in the fan section for us to post pictures, features and movesets of our Pokémon ideas.

Good idea.
Now, here's a couple of ideas. One of these ideas spawned the other idea.
First idea: Rather than saying "You can only find such-and-such a Pokemon on this Route or that landmark," put Pokemon only in certain patches of grass, for example, you can only find a Geodude if the patch of grass is within five tiles from a rock, or a Slowpoke will only appear 2 tiles from a fresh water source (i.e., that pond on north Route 104.)
Second idea: Previous version starters can be found in a single area, for example, Totodile, Croconaw, and Feraligatr are the sole inhabitants a single pool of water on a single (swampy) route, or Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard have a particular room in a cave dedicated to them.

Pokémon in specific patches has been done since Hoenn with Feebas, but what other Pokémon would be good for that? They should be somewhat powerful or quirky like Milotic is. Possibly more Pokémon that evolve by condition stats such as Beauty.
Now for the starters, I'm not sure. They're kinda like legendaries in that they're meant to be unique and valuable (yet not as powerful). As long as you keep them unique, I guess any place to find them would work.

Now, while that's pretty awesome, a jack-o-lantern seems like a Ghost/Grass to me. Actually I pictured it a Grass/ Fire. That's the only time you'd get such a unique combination of types. When else would you get fire in a plant? I figure he'd start as a regular pumpkin Grass type then evolve into a Jack-o-lantern Grass/ Fire type. I'd like a Fire/ Ghost type to be a Candle Pokemon.

@ Johans: I meant that in a more global sense.
@ Koopaul: I can think of a way to make Grass / Fire. You ever see Nightmare Before Christmas, in the beginning where Jack's dressed like a scarecrow and lights himself on fire? THAT'S how I picture a Grass / Fire.

There's a load of unused type combos. A flaming snake for Fire/Poison would own. Not to mention, Flip had tons of ideas on his DeviantART. I especially like his Ghost/Fire type jack-o-lantern. I think you have my pogies a bit confuzzed there Pumpkid is Grass/Fly and evolves into Pumpkeen, Grass/Dark. The Ghost/Fire is Shanidyr, the Flame Skull Pokemon. Though I do have a Ghost/Normal "rice baby" Pokemon that's made of cloth, clothes hangers, buttons, and patches: Stuffin. I still have my "MASSIVE LIST" is anybody wants to see it (it's literally just a giant shitton of monsters, moves, concepts, and items). Some of the ones I've been working on lately are new Eeveelutions: Supereon is the Normal evolution. You get it by giving a max happy Eevee a massage while wearing incense. Supereon has Adaptability as its trait, which basically gives it double STAB. Statwise, it doesn't follow normal Eeveelution rules: instead of redistributing the numbers, Supereon has a base stat of 90 in all of its stats except Speed, which gets a very average 75. Supereon has the widest movepool of all the evolutions as well. Appearance wise, it's just a bigger, more fancy Eevee with longer hair and a fluffier collar.
Putreon is the Poison evolution. If you level Eevee in the Mystic Forest of Surto right next to the Venom Stone it will become a Putreon. Putreon has Poison Heal as its trait (which, being a Poison-type, means it will recover only with Paralysis and Burn), and its stats are HP 95, Att 65, Def 110, SpA 60, SpD 65, Spd 130, making it a "fast physical wall." Movepool wise it gets all the tricks in the book for inflicting status and dealing damage over time, as well as a new "Quick Attack" named Spit Venom and moves like Night Shade. For looks, picture a sleek Umbreon-like Pokemon with a purple and neon green scheme. Along its sinuses and shoulders it has "tubes" of venom that go down to both the corners of its mouth and the spurs on its heels. The tail ends in a point.
Zombeon is the Ghost Eeveelution, received by allowing an Eevee to faint and then reviving it at the "witch doctor's" massage parlor while carrying Voodoo Dust. Zombeon has Zombified as its trait; this ability removes all weaknesses, but creates a 4x weakness to Fire and removes the ability to heal through normal means (this Pokemon takes damage from curative moves and items). The only way for a Zombified Pokemon to heal is through draining attacks (draining attacks still work against these Pokemon, but are half-effective). Zombeon's stats: HP 130, Att 95, Def 110, SpA 65, SpD 65, Spd 60. Zombeon can be a "physical wall" and "physical sweeper," but its Speed and Spec. Defense make it a sitting duck in many cases. Movewise, Zombeon gets a lot of Ghost, Poison, and Dark-type moves. Think of a rotting Eevee for the appearance: ribcage popping out of the chest, spine visible just underneath the sagging back, tail half decomposed so the bone is exposed, and a "stitchface" to keep the mouth partially shut.
Pixeon is the last Eeveelution and this one is Bug-type. You can get it by leveling an Eevee inside the Mystic Forest while battling within any of the numerous "fairy rings" that appear after a rainstorm (mushroom gathering is a new facet of my game, btw). Pixeon has Shiled Dust as its ability and its stats are as follows: HP 65, Att 60, Def 65, SpA 130, SpD 95, Spd 110. Pixeon has "special sweeper" written all over it. Even though it's a mono Bug-type, it's essentially the "fairy" Eeveelution and learns a plethora of "magical" attacks: Magic Coat, Psychic, Signal Beam, Lucky Chant, etc. It also learns the new 120 power Special Bug-type move, Red Flash. Picturing Pixeon all you really need to do is imagine a purple Eeveelution with feathery ears and tail, twin antennae, pink extremities, and a brilliant pair of butterfly wings. I like the idea of en evolving ant. Why they have yet to do that is beyond me :<

Adaptability being one of Eevee's abilities made me think once that we'll never see a Normal-type eeveelution because it already empowers Eevee. But I agree it could be a Pokémon with balanced stats. Or maybe with a lot of HP like Vaporeon. Very creative evolution methods right there. I hope if an ant has never been shown it's because they haven't run out of ideas yet. Not to mention cockroaches and flies... Eww! For those who haven't seen it, we just made a Pokémon creation thread here.
