You are correct, sir! Puzznic for the NES from Taito. Wildcat +1 ScoreboardWildcat - 9 8bitretroshit - 3 Fryguy64 - 3 parrothead - 3 Man-Frog - 1 Johans Nidorino - 1 Clue: This is an action-RPG on the NES. It's very similar to other RPG's, like Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior, with character building, experience points, a menu-based interface, and random enemy encounters while walking around the overworld. However, the battles, themselves, are real-time and play out very much like The Legend of Zelda. The dungeons and towers are also very Zelda-like.
Guess the game!

I had a feeling someone might guess Crystalis, but it's not Crystalis.

I didn't think it was Crystalis - there's no random encounters. I'll look into this tomorrow.

Startropics!!! EDIT: Can I join? It's not StarTropics. And yes, you can join. Just fill out a Guess the Game entry request form, and mail it with a check for $15 and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Guess the Game offices, care of NinDB. In six to eight weeks, you will receive a Guess the Game entry form which you must fill out and return within 10 business days, along with two forms of picture ID. Then wait another six to eight weeks for the completion of a background-check, and barring any instances of cheating in other such web forum games, you will then be allowed to play. Or you could just start guessing.

I believe that this is The Magic of Scheherazade.

...Forget about what I said. Now I think what I could "recall" was actually just Zelda 2.

Clue 2: Just to clarify, the random battles are just like in a turn-based RPG. You get randomly attacked on the overworld, and the battle plays out on a separate screen. However, instead being menu-driven and turn-based, it plays out like a single screen of The Legend of Zelda.
Also, the main character has red hair.
Guess the game!
