As the case may be, homosexuality is treated as a double standard. A lot of folks who think gay men are bad have no problem with lesbians. It's genetic diversity. I'm straight, he's bi, you're gay, it doesn't matter anyways. The thing of it is that people don't let themselves become sexually confident and so they find themselves doing what they're told by the old guys who don't actually know what they're talking about, usually indirectly. When you're sexually confident, you find yourself comfortable doing things you wouldn't have done because of a close-minded pissery that itself stemmed from lack of confidence.

I think you're wrong. I don't hate gays, I'm just not sexually attracted to two dudes making out. But when it's two ladies...oh yeah. Cue slow bass
And just because I won't make out with another guy doesn't mean I'm not, as you put it "sexually confident". That's just ridiculous. That's like saying that someone who won't have sex with animals is denying their right to fuck everything just because.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Not a bit of it. (You're on the right track with the two-dude two-chick thing, but that's not what I'm getting at.) I'll give you an example. I have this friend who's a homophobe. A SERIOUS homophobe. Not the whole lack of sexual attraction or even revulsion at two dudes making out. He's totally against gays. Not lesbians, though. LOVES the lesbians. That's the sort of thing I'm talking about (take note, however, that we generally avoid that topic because it's the biggest and only hot-button in our little collective.)
Also, sexual confidence is NOT bisexuality. Sexual confidence is the capacity to deal with situations where something of the sort arises even if it's not something you're comfortable with. It's the ability to get out from between a rock and a hard place gracefully. For example: If someone asks you who you'd rather have sex with, Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom, no matter how you answer, it won't make you sound gay just because you answer one or the other because the questioner won't expect you to provide the heterosexual option because there isn't one. So if you can simply say "Depp" or "Bloom," that's sexual confidence. It's not if you have to explain yourself. Sexual openness is a key to sexual confidence. The whole homosexuality hate would be much smaller if more people were capable of openness to dissimilar sexual preference, and that openness would lead to more people becoming sexually confident.

If I were forced into making out with a guy if my life depended on it, I think I'd go along with it.

Eh sexuality is too controversial for me. I'll just stick to debating cartoons and video games ;D

On that note, now for something completely different.
God damn it, I don't give a rat's ass about celebrities! I'm sick of the news trumpeting how some idiot celebrity did something bad and then yammering on about it for weeks. I don't care how popular the celebrity is, short of dying, I seriously don't care what a celebrity does. And as sad as it is that Michael Jackson's dead, the amount of MJ crap they doled out afterwards legitimately made me question it, him being the sort to feign death for marketing. And not only do we learn these ninnies did it, we have to hear about it for months! Don't people have better things to do? Aren't there more intelligent things to talk about? If there's one thing I can say for Fox News (being that I have little to say for it, being as left as I am,) it's that they actually talk about things that matter. Maybe not intelligently (they have a tendency to play the Chewbacca Defense alot,) but they do talk important.

On SexualityI'm heterosexual. This is normal, accepted, etc. If I wanted, I could choose to be gay, or experiment being gay for a while. Or I could become celibate. Or I could become either of those things, and then choose to become heterosexual again. Perhaps I will, perhaps I won't. Sex is sex, and who you are sexually attracted too seems to be as much to do with upbringing and opportunity as it does to any kind of in-born biological influence. For the record, it'd be Johnny Depp. Even though he's weird looking, at least he doesn't look like a baby. Also, he has nice eyes! Everyone should have a right to fall in love with whomever they want, but most people don't know what they want, and jump into whoever will give them the time of day. Sexual confidence is knowing what you want, and not compromising until you get it. I did the dating scene, met up with people who I liked a lot, people I didn't like at all, people who would make good friends, and people who didn't like me one bit. That kind of thing is what led me to believing everyone has baggage, and finding someone with the kind of baggage you can handle is the key to being happy. Sexual confidence is also about being unswayed! If someone finds your sexual preferences funny or odd, don't think you're wrong! Because there is no right or wrong answer. And if you won't take all the uggo fatties, then who will?! ;D On CelebrityI agree. I couldn't give a shit what celebrities get up to when they're not entertaining us. And I certainly don't understand why people who don't entertain us become celebrities because they slept with x or partied with y. Michael Jackson dying was news, because it's Michael fucking Jackson! But the coverage he got and the ensuing amnesia about the interim "fucking weirdo, possibly a paedophile" years was horrifying. It's as if the media's grandmother slapped its wrist and told it "Don't speak ill of the dead, you little bugger!" But celebrity news is everywhere. And it's boring! If someone followed me around with a camera all day and posted it in a magazine they'd get tasty morsels such as "Web Designer Mark Kelly in tasteless racism comment" or "Makes disabled joke at expense of family" or "Jelly Belly Kelly Needs a Tone". And it would suck! The whole argument of being in the public eye is total horse-shit as well. It starts when celebrities become role models, and we all have them when we're kids. Then it's celebrities-behaving-badly leading to us enjoying watching the rich get their comeuppance for bad behaviour. Follow that slippery slope to its logical conclusion and you end up where we already are today... I don't care who has lost weight or who has had a row with their spouse!! With funding, I would like to start a celeb gossip mag, but follow around media moguls, newscasters and magazine/newspaper editors and comment on their bad behaviour and bring them the same shame they bring to others every day.

If I'm reading that right, I should probably mention that I never said MJ's death wasn't news.
Anyways, the one thing that pisses me off about celebrity gossip the most is that when they aren't doing something bad and getting covered, they're doing something good and getting covered. You can argue that giving a million bucks to charity is something to present, but it really isn't. They're not giving the million bucks to charity for charity's sake, they're doing it for their own. They're giving a small fraction of their ridiculously huge amount of money away (usually the money amounts to 1% of the cash they actually have, which is alot to the lay but is change to them) so that we avert our eyes when they get caught driving drunk. It's repulsive.

Sadly, that's the PR-infested world we live in. Distract from the bad by doing something good (even if, as you point out, the good looks like a bigger deal than it is). PR jumped on the same wagon as the politicians and the lawyers and now we live in a world where non-explicit deceipt (perhaps "showmanship" and "parlour tricks" is more appropriate) are used to keep the lay person unaware.
A necesssary evil, perhaps. We, as lay people, do tend to be easily infuriated and largely idiotic. PR is the barrier that prevents us from seeing that the rich and powerful are just as idiotic.
It doesn't always work...

On a different subject...
I was just watching some British comedy shows and I couldn't find it funny... And I realized its the accent.
No offence but the British accent just makes things sound boring to me. It sounds so dull. The American (and that includes Canada) accent seems to have way more emotion and character.
Oh boy I'm gonna get it now...
Erm... How about this? Never have I seen so many commercials dedicated to the vagina, like every other commercial! What's up with that!?
Oh wait, there are no females on these forums right?

I totally agree. I don't really find the UK Office that funny at all compared to the American one. Not that I hate Britain, I love the British accent. It sound so...classy. Just not funny.
Also, has anyone noticed that many British singers sound American when they sing? Well...besides Damon Albarn.

Kohta's pretty much our lone female on the boards, as sparse as her posting is these days. My wife wouldn't post here, alas, as she's not as into games as most of us are.
And lol, Damon Albarn can't shake that accent of his, can he? But yeah, I'm in the camp of preferring US comedy over British. Well, almost. Monty Python is funny all of the time.
To recap earlier discussions: Sexuality - I'm all for equality. Gays and lesbians ought to have as much right to marriage and expressing love as anyone heterosexual. Love is love, as far as I'm concerned. Celebrities - Hate gossip mags to the intense. Gah. I have much better things to think about than what Brad/Jen/Angie/fuckhead are doing this week. Fuckin' a. (yes, this does get my ire going REALLY fast).

I do agree though, they quite exploit that accent a lot just to get these things up. While we're at it, let's not forget about Danger Mouse, one epic British cartoon from the 80's. It's really well done, not just for its time but even now! www.youtube.com/watch#v=EcGI9TVRWcEwww.youtube.com/watch#v=_I8kSyUpw8wwww.youtube.com/watch#v=d8-n19U4SA0
