Ah, you see, now that's what makes it fun! It would be maddening, but how many Smash Bros. stages are actually the standard Battlefields and Final Destinations? Very few. Most have at least one fight-affecting gimmick, several have many. Even if the gimmick has minimal affect on the battle (like the Support Ghost,) there's always at least one. And when you're dealing with Galaxy, you're looking at a game BEYOND not built for Smash Bros. tournaments. It'd be absolutely ridiculous to believe that you could take the innovations from Galaxy and not implement at least one of them in some way in a game featuring content from it. There isn't a place in Galaxy that doesn't allow for these things, as every major galaxy and most galaxies period have at least a Pull Star.

I think a semi-circle is the way to go... that and the stage is side-scrolling so it is like Mushroomy Kingdom. Basically the planet itself is circular but the screen itself depicts it as a semi-circle as you can't see everything at once. That's where the side-scrolling part comes in, the battle moves from top of the planet to the right side to the bottom side to the left side and back to the top side. It would be like Spear Pillar where the battle was sometimes upside-down. So, I think it could be like a cross between Mushroomy Kingdom and Spear Pillar.
Well, that or the planet is rotating so we always stay right-side-up on the screen. So it would be like Mushroomy Kingdom and Brinstar Depths. It also means no gravity gimmick.

Remember how in the original SSB N64 game we used to always see random stuff flying in the background to some stages? (Such as Bronto Berts, and King Dedede in the Kirby stage, or Copperhead missles, and ships in the Star Fox stage.)
I'd like to see some things like that appear in the new SMG stage for the next SSB game. Maybe we could see the Starship Mario fly by, as well as other enemies, (paragoombas) and things.

Today, we finally get our Galaxy stage we have been waiting for since 2009!

I'm surprised that it has special gravity at all. It's just too much work for a single stage.
And I don't think it's just an illusion here; sideways midair movement should be more difficult now due to whatever air length won't cover the same amount of ground length here.
I can't wait to see this in animated form.

We can already see one important detail in the picture: Samus' shot seems to follow the arc of the stage. This may be an illusion of the image, but if the blast were going straight (escaping the planet's orbit,) it would have gone over Mario's head. This implies that the gravitational field of this planet is going to be visibly round, as opposed to demonstrating the illusion of flatness we see in the real world.

I wonder if escape velocity will be a factor in the programming of this stage. I don't expect Samus' Final Smash or a high damage percentage KO to curve with the stage, while I can see Mario's Mario Finale hug the planet's surface slightly, ultimately shooting off into space...
Am I being too hard on the programmers here?
Also, I'd love to see those smackable green glob spheres appear on the stage, I think they'd make for a nice hazard.

So we have Starship Mario. Probably just a background object, but I wonder what other planets will be seen in this stage.

No doubt the Comet Observatory will fly by.

I think it would make sense just from a balance perspective if final smashes just behave regularly and don't adhere to the rules of the gravity. But for regular KO moves, I think they'll behave with the stages physics, as it's happened before with The Pirate Ship, and Pokemon Stadium 2 during specific transforming parts. It could be possible we see the gravity make KOing slightly more difficult in situations.

No doubt the Comet Observatory will fly by. Some people on SmashBoards and GameFAQs seem to think that Rosalina is a shoo-in because she is playable in Super Mario 3D World... and that her Final Smash would involve the Comet Observatory... and that's why we don't see the Comet Observatory in the background.

Can't deny the possibiliy of a playable Rosalina, although I won't cite 3D World as a reason, since remember that Nintendo teams don't really know what's going on in each other's project, let alone between EAD Tokyo and Namco. Melee barely contained stuff from Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin (there's Roy, but that's a special exception), and Brawl completely missed anything from Mario Galaxy 1 (again, there's Metal Gear Solid 4, but that's an exception). Such omissions (especially Brawl's) would not happen if they do know what Nintendo's teams were doing.
This Observatory Final Smash theory may make sense (it has high defensive power and can launch people), but do remember that we've only seen 3 pics of the Galaxy stage. I wouldn't put too much faith in that yet.
(Okay, I'm taking rumours from Smashboards and GameFAQs too seriously.)
