Yeah, the Game Gear didn't do so hot. I have a bunch of games for it, and other than Sonic Triple Trouble, I don't think much of any of them- which is kinda sad.
And that would be cool!

I don't think they've ever carried a vehicle over from one Sonic game to another. Even the Egg Mobile gets redesigned every game.

Amy Rose and Dr. Eggman also used their same Sonic Drift vehicles in their same formats in Sonic R. Too bad Sega even modified Eggman's Egg Mobile to have wheels and axles.
I don't know any other Sega characters that have their own vehicle other than Flashgal (like Ryo, she also drives a bike), Pepper from the Clockwork Knight series (who rode a horse with wheels), any Golden Axe hero (who rode on other animals) and numerous racing games with generic drivers (e.g. Monaco GP, Daytona USA, Virtua Racing, Power Drift), but if Sega doesn't mind adding characters that were never seen driving any vehicle, then I guess Arnold from Burning Rival, Sketch Turner from Comix Zone, Shadow Yamato from the Eternal Champions series, F.F. from D.D. Crew, Bahn from Fighting Vipers, Taro Yamada (a.k.a. Rent-A-Hero) from the Rent-A-Hero series, Pulseman (if he seriously belongs to Sega), Vectorman, Greendog the Beached Surf Dude, Kid Chameleon, Astal, Ristar, Prince Ali from The Story of Thor 1, Leon from The Story of Thor 2 and Joe Musashi from the Shinobi series.
Axel "Hawk" Stone from the Streets of Rage series would also be nice, but I guess the reason why he wasn't (and probably never will be) included in Sega's cross-overs, is that Japan looks at Streets of Rage as just another rip-off of Capcom's Final Fight, but many people outside of Japan (especially in North America) like its music and funny content (especially the part in the first SoR where the police car shoots wherever the players are at. Even on an elevating platform next to a skyscraper).

Parrothead, you've omitted one of the awesomest Sega franchises to grace this green earth. ;D Like WildCat said on a previous page, this game will be nothing without Vyse riding a bitchin' steampunk car/airship.
Man, imagine how wild a Skies of Arcadia-based course would be!

Streets of Rage has actually had more releases in Japan than anywhere else. The entire series was included in the Japanese version of Sonic Gems Collection, and the soundtrack albums, which are only available in Japan, always sell for very high prices over there. Besides, these Sega Superstars games are made in America and don't usually even see release in Japan. So what Japan thinks of SoR is irrelevant.

Man, imagine how wild a Skies of Arcadia-based course would be! Why, thank you. And I can imagine it, and Cupil cries because it'll likely never happen. There's so many possibilities...you could use the whole of Arcadia, drive through some of the more interesting setpieces (like Valua's upper and lower districts, or Ixa'taka's lush forests, or go extra crazy with the Dark Rift), or keep it simple and use Crescent Isle, with the various crewmembers working on the base and the ship as you pass by. *sigh*

Okay, so we have generic zombies now. If there isn't more than one JGR character in this game, I'll be more than a little annoyed by this. XD (Even moreso than Shadow being in the game.) Actually, they were the protagonist of a special minigame mode from House Of the Dead EX. They are called Zombio and Zombiko

Well, it does, sort of. They aren't generic, apperently. Having these characters- who are preexisting characters- is better than having generic characters.
I would like to have another JSR character too though. Although, in my case, I prefer Future since I played it first.

Indeed, and what sort of racer would one expect that would be iconic to House Of The Dead? Zombies, and these two were the only Zombie Protagonists of the entire franchise. In addition, the game they come from was more comedic and didn't take itself seriously, which befits the tone of a Wacky Mascot Racer more than Ryo from Shenmue does. There is at least SOME logic to their inclusion. As far as the arguement over which characters should be in these games, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman seem like good choices. Beyond that... We have reps from Samba De Amigo, Super Monkey Ball, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, House of the Dead, Billy Hatcher, and Alex Kidd, with NiGHTs, Space Channel 5, and Golden Axe reps more than likely appearing as well. I'd say that it really only needs reps from Virtua Fighter, Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, Puyo Pop, Skies of Arcadia, Shinobi, and Valkyria Chronicles and you pretty much get the most iconic and/or newest Sega Franchises, with some cult hits thrown in. Hell, maybe have the character and vehicle from OutRun and Hornet as well since this is a racing game.

Okay, fine, so they're better than having Misc. Zombie #980918, but I have to be honest and say that I still don't like it. XD This is my personal disinterest in House of the Dead speaking; rail shooters are pretty common as it stands, and zombies are in every video game of all time ever and are, to paraphrase Yahtzee, 'a low hanging fruit.' There are far more original/colorful/interesting franchises Sega has access to...but then again, maybe I shouldn't be surprised they're going more for 'iconic' than 'awesome' what with the overabundance of Sonic stuff (see previous pages for my stance on that issue).
Also, how does a man riding a motorcycle being in a racing game make less sense than zombies driving a car?

There really weren't any generic zombies in House of the Dead. They all had names. For instance, the most common zombie's name was "David".

When it comes down to it... the sad truth is that House of the Dead is just more successful than Jet Set Radio. The fact that Beat is in the game is already a huge surprise when you consider the fact that Jet Set Radio failed to reach even 0.01 million sales.
To be fair, Future sold 0.03 million, but... y'know, you look at House of the Dead... the Dreamcast one sold 0.26 million. That's over 26 times what Jet Set Radio sold. And the Wii HotD 1 & 2 collection the recently came out has sold over a million copies. So yeah, I can see why Sega would think people would rather have House of the Dead characters than Jet Set Radio ones.

Ouch, Kchu. That's just cold.
Again, I blame the fact that zombies are easy pickings. Yahtzee has also stated that - and I'll quote him this time - "[...] zombies are only second to ninjas, pirates and monkeys on the list of things nerds like and need to shut the fuck up about."
"But TEi, you sexy and magnificent specimen of a man, you" I hear you say, "you like playing Left 4 Dead!"
And to you I reply, this is true, and Left 4 Dead is an awesome game and does just happen to have zombies in it. You wanna know what really gets me into L4D though? Everything but the zombies. Zombies are second only to how awesome the game is as a whole. A very distant second. I honestly don't really like zombies, they creep me out and they're almost as unhygienic as your typical convention nerd.
And from what you guys have said, my understanding of Zombio and Zombiko - and stop me if I'm wrong - is that they are characters in a minigame in a spin-off/port of the House of the Dead franchise, rather than the poster character for the series (a series which is far awesomer in concept, design and delivery). And while Jet Set Radio is incomparable in sales to House of the Dead, this is (again) because zombies are wet dream fodder for nerds, and also because Sega maybe invested a dollar into advertising JGR and JSRF. Zombies sell themselves.
It's on those grounds that I still stand by my original point. XD

Zobio and Zobiko are the main characters of House of the Dead EX, apparently. Which seems to be a kind of comedy spin-off title in the series. So it's not quite as bad as just being part of a minigame, they are the stars of their own full-fledged game.
I don't like it either, but it looks like we're stuck with zombies for any games Sega makes like this.
