Recent update from the JP Metroid site, two new commercials. metroid.jp/#/movie/The first commercial is filled with cutscenes and 0:15 to 0:20 and 0:22 to 0:29 are new, at least I haven't seen them before. The second com. is a throwback to the Famicom-style gameplay that M:OM provides.

(Heh, it seems like everything people has to say about this game is its flaws ) That applies to so many games it makes me wonder when people can even be bothered to enjoy them.

Alas, poor Jennifer Hale. So many good spoken roles, none of them Samus. Seriously, all Samus did was grunt or scream in the Prime trilogy. Granted, now that it looks like Samus narrates Other M, I'd prefer to have Hale on board, because she's a fantastic voice actress. Alex in Eternal Darkness, Sheena in Tales of Symphonia, Jun the Bounty Hunter in Avatar: the Last Airbender...ahhh. Good times. Shadrio: Michael Bay directed both live action Transformers movies, and his fortes are special effects and explosions, so it's no wonder why GoNintendo doesn't treat it as a good thing.

Here's the live action TV commercial that was mentioned on the last page. It's pretty epic.

A well done commercial indeed!^^ Love the part with the Space Pirates (atleast I think its them) and I can't help finding the child looking a little odd in a funny way when she screams, lol. Here is a new 1up interview, among things they talk about enemies no longer droping health power-ups. gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=1337341UP: Can you offer any examples from the game that changed ,from what people might expect as a result of your back-and-forth interaction? For instance, one of the first things I noticed in playing Other M is that enemies no longer drop health power-ups -- it's more about surviving each encounter, which is a really different feel for Metroid. Sakamoto: That's an interesting point. I hadn't really thought about that as being particularly influenced by Team Ninja, but you're right that when you defeat enemies now, they don't allow you to recover health or missiles. But I wouldn't think of that as something that just came from one team or the other. Rather, it was something we discussed and decided on together. If I had to give an example of something that felt like it was definitely influenced by our new partners, it would probably be the way in which Samus is combining different abilities together to create new abilities. For example, there's a technique called "overblast" where you get on top of an enemy and deliver a kill shot from above. Now, this new move seems to have a lot of fighting game elements to it, which I have to say was never really a part of the Metroid gameplay and style before. But it's a very cool action, and I'm happy that we're able to include this sort of thing in the repertoire. It has almost always been easy(not too easy but still easy enough) for me to get powerups anyway so I don't mind a challenge at all. There is also a new (JP only so far) Iwata Asks interview with some of the staff of Team Ninja and Nintendo. There doesn't seem to be any new information, we do see however one of the concept arts on page 5 and we can hear a high-quality version of the piano music (from the US Metroid homepage) on page 4. Apparently this music moved some of the team to tears. metroid-database.com/news-post.php?id=370www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/interview/r3oj/vol2/index.html

- dual-layered disc confirmed - Team Ninja said they were struggling to make the full game fit - development came down to shaving seconds off of cut-scenes to fit all the content on the disc - the team also wanted to keep visual quality high as possible during cut-scenes - the Gravity Suit is in the game, but it is not represented visually as we usually see it - Sakamoto wanted the visual design changed, as he felt the traditional look didn't fit with this game - the screenshot that we've shown of Samus with a purple glow (see below) is indeed the Gravity Suit gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=134003Since its a dual-layered disc I sure hope we don't get any Brawl-like complaints.

I agree that the "gravity suit" is pretty weak, BUT Team Ninja's obviously put a lot of effort into the game otherwise, my personal grievances with gameplay and storytelling aside. I'm not really going to fault them for slacking off just this once. Well, unless they slack off with a bunch of other things. But for now, I'll let sleeping bounty hunters lie.

Here is the first (I think) review. - going into first-person mode is finicky - third-person combat is very smooth and effortless - bosses and mini-bosses tend to involve a lot of trial-and-error - lots of exploration - Nate Bihldorff (of Treehouse fame) recorded a placeholder voiceover for the tutorial, but they ended up being so impressed with his performance as a nasally scientist that they decided to keep it in the final game - "It may not be the pinnacle of the series, but longtime fans shouldn't let that deter them from checking out an overall enjoyable experience. Again, it's all about managing your expectations." Review score: 4 out of 5 www.gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=134078The Aussie Gameinformer poeple gave the game an 8 which is good, I pretty much expected this score from them. The NA Gameinformer poeple says thier score of the game comes Friday but I don't expect any good from them, knowing how they are.

An amazing third commercial from Japan has just popped up on youtube. Beware though, this ad has some serious spoilers, as ambiguous as they may be. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwGYGxZTzQo

Nice to see that girl again (we haven't seen her since the very first trailer for this game), even if for a sec.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess the Gravity Suit thing is so that they didn't have to include seperate but identical cutscenes for both regular Samus and Gravity Suit Samus.

See, the way the Gravity Suit looks gives me the impression that it's some sort of temporary power up, which worries me a bit. But that's just the "GRAwArAaAAAAWR CHANGE IS BAD" part of me talking. I suppose a power-up based suit system could be interesting, if done incredibly well.

It will still do better than Prime in Japan. Those xenophobes...

Xenophobia doesn't enter the equation. The Japanese don't like first-person games at all. In fact, I've heard somewhere it may be a biological thing- people of Asian descent are more likely to experience motion sickness in a fp game, or something of that sort. And honestly, the Metroid series has NEVER done especially well in Japan.
Really, Koopaul, do you think before you speak?
