I dunno, I have almost 70 hours clocked into FF Tactics and that hasn't yet gotten old...

You see, I enjoy the experience of being constantly challenged. I would prefer an exciting game to last just half an hour than a level grinding game that last 20. The fact that Mario games in the last few years have lasted me in the region of 6-10 hours, and are constantly challenging and fun, I feel I got my money's worth. If I was doing the same thing over and over for those 10 hours, I would feel cheated. I agree, actually. I do not like level grinding, in fact. Like Mario & Luigi 3, I beat it at Lv 32 (Bowser Lv 25) - the rest, I'll just grind it up when I'm bored. What I talked about was actual gameplay that's not repetitive. You are "constantly challenged" in Mario games because you don't level up. But you still build up (actual) gaming skills and levels get easy, well, easily. But at this rate, it's really only a matter of personal preference. If anything, I'll still say yes to this game. No way in missing anything with "Super Mario Bros" as part of its name. Now if only November ends quickly! (Because I have a lot of schoolwork to do right now)

I just feel that the experience can be expanded more heavily BEYOND the game itself. I love that you can basically play the game twice, once solo and once multiplayer. I also like that they kept STAR COINZ LOL, secret exits, cannons, etc. It's the same type of stuff that gets me coming back to Mario World, Mario 3, and all the others year after year. I don't doubt that I will keep playing this game for the rest of my life. BUT.... the ante of this generation has been raised. I don't think gamers can nor should settle for a high-profile game to be without extra features and game modes. Especially after following Galaxy, with the hidden "Luigi Mode," extra 121st star, purple coins, funky powerups, and massive levels. I understand that NSMBWii is a different experience than Galaxy, but I almost feel that Galaxy really transformed what made a "Mario" game--our expectations should have changed with that, y'know? And don't assume I'm NSMBWii bashing here, because I fucking LOVE the game. Just stating my thoughts and observations from a 20-20 hindsight perspective

...I'm now telling myself that I'll love Galaxy 2. Really.
Less than a week to go for me. Now I DO think I'll get it on launch, since the wait is too much to bear =P

This is a really good point, and I agree with you 100%; contemporary games with all sorts of unlockable goodies, especially in single player mode, is something that helps give them a lot of longevity, and something that is gradually working its way into most games nowadays. But by the same token, NSMBWii is a more traditional Mario game, so it makes sense that the rewards and "modes" are more traditional too. There's nothing wrong with that, of course ;D I really want to get all the Star Coins and unlock World 9, and I've been a mediocre 2D Mario player at best, so it will be a challenge that I can't wait to complete.

I haven't played the game but it sounds so awesome the way many of you are praising the game. ;D It sounds like it has almost everything I love in a Mario 2D platformer!!
- playable Toads just like SMB2 - rideable Yoshis just like in SMW - World 9 a la SMW's Special World - secret exits just like in SMW - new power-up suits a la SMB3 - the return of the Koopalings - very challenging levels (so I heard) - and of course, a brand-new Mario 2D platformer game itself
I hope I get it for Christmas! ;D

I got to World 6 tonight, and I've been polishing off the coins as I can. I've got all of the coin stars for worlds 1, 3, 4 and 5, but I've been putting off taking care of World 2 because, yeah.
I think Iggy is my new favorite Koopaling. I'll wait to see what Ludwig does before I make final judgement, though...

Okay. Morton's second castle = HATE. Giant dildos are a bitch to fight XD Aren't they just? Which end castle do you think has them the worst? World 4, 6, or 7?

Good question... I think the World 6 one is the worst. The one on World 7 was horrible, but slightly less panic inducing...
I've beaten Bowser (in 2-Player, no less), and now I'm going through and collecting the Star Coins to unlock all the World 9 stages. Damn, some of those Coins are well hidden!!
And I refuse to cheat!
