*ahem* Anyway, after I got back on, I noticed I was reaching 500. Any benchmark for that? 600 I believe is the next one? Muddy Mole?

I forget what the exact rank is, but every 200 posts, it goes up until you hit Legendary Tingle at 2,000; then you get Sexy Tingle at 3,000 posts (judging by how DiU has 2,500+ posts and is a Legendary Tingle as well). But still, congrats Kohta and Roy ;D

Post 255 ;D
Significance of this number:
- Maximum number of rupees link can hold in LoZ - Maximum number of missles samus can hold in Metroid - Maximum stat available in most Final Fantasy games
Very random yes, but it had relevance to Nintendo! ;D

Starting from 0, it goes up to 255. Obviously, many early NES games used a single byte to count things, and that's why they only went up to that number.

Indeedy Nester. 255 is the maximum value that can be assigned to elements in the 24-bit RGB color model, since each color channel is allotted eight bits. It is also the maximum value of any dotted quad in an IP address and of the alpha blending scale in Delphi (255 being 100% visible and 0 being fully transparent). Thats copied and pasted from Wikipedia by the way Although I did recognise the significance with gaming, and in particular nintendo games that were limited by that value.

^ Touché! When I was a kid, I used to wonder why the number 255 showed up in so many games like that. I actually thought it was just because it was a cool looking number that was a multiple of five.

There was a reason 255 was so special. It pops up a lot in programming I believe.

Yes, Nester explained that a few posts up. 8-bit data units can store 28=256 values.

sqrt2, I just noticed, your name means square root of 2. I always thought you misspelled "squirt"

I just noticed I was ranked "WVBA Champion," which is funny because I bought Punch-out!! last week on the VC. Ironically, I can't seem to beat Super Macho Man, so I'm not really a WVBA Champion, but I'm working on it!
