In the instruction manual for Super Mario Land 2, Mario tells that he already knows Wario since "their childhood in Brooklyn". But we need to know what's about the Japanese manual. It could be that NoA added that Brooklyn part to Americanize Mario. Ummm... what?! From the US SML2 manual. I see no mention of Brooklyn. And KC, you should know by now I need more than that to go on

Oh, I know. Honestly, I don't believe the Brooklyn story at this point, anyway. Just throwing it out there.

And since were on the Wario topic already, did Wario lose his ability to use magic? ( " under Wario's spell") Lastly does it even matter if they came from brooklyn? for all we know, the continents of real life are mixed with the continents of the Marioverse, thats what I believe or at least dimension linked or sumthin.

Ummm... what?! From the US SML2 manual. I see no mention of Brooklyn. I only looked into the German manual of the game, which says "Ich kenne ihn schon seit unserer gemeinsamen Kindheit in Brooklyn.", it means "I already know him since our childhood together in Brooklyn." Odd, Nintendo Germany made Mario and Wario Americans.

Hmmm since we got different info for each region, which info is the canonical one? would it be Japan, America, Germany, or any other region? And thats why I created a thread, character relationships per region whatever thread, just to get that question answered

Well, the UK one doesn't say Brooklyn either. And the canonical one will always be the Japanese one so long as it doesn't interfere with the game content.

I don't remember reading about Brooklyn in another German manual. Maybe the translators just took the TV cartoons too seriously.

Yeah, I think the Brooklyn thing was from the Mario cartoons and the movie. I don't think it's ever been suggested by the creators has it? I've only ever heard it suggested by the writers of Nintendo Power in their various magazines and guides and such.

Yeah, it's stated outright in the American cartoons, comics and movie - but I hope you're all with me in disregarding each and every one of those

I guess I'm the only one who chose 'hell no'. I feel so....so lonesome. I guess it's mostly for the part that it didn't have anything to do with Mario in the first place, and that it was just meant to be a random spinoff with no real storyline at all. I think I should've thought before voting...

Of course it's the same universe, WarioWare Inc. is a video game factory run by Wario, it's not a whole new world or anything.

It's not canon. It's just officially licensed fanfiction. Just ask yourself - is it likely anybody on the original game design team is going to use the information in their later games? That's why the Pokemon and Kirby animes are canon, but the American Mario and Zelda cartoons are not. That's why the Origin of Samus comic is canon, but the comics in Nintendo Power are not.

The Pokemon Anime is not Canon, Ash ketchum? the storyline is completely different from the official Nintendo Pokemon videogame plus VIZ media?, i don't think so, as for Kirby perhaps, no comment there( I haven't watched it).
