All in all, I don't believe the Zelda games were meant to be canon (other than WW and PH). The whole point in general is for the games to be in alternate realities entirely. Anything that makes you think it's canon is probably a coincidence. Same goes for the DK games, and of course, we can blame that on Microsoft's purchase of Rare. End Topic. What? Another post to end topic? And also the poster thinks he knows everything when he has NO PROOF? Yeesh. And yet, there's no proof that they are canon either. Same with the DK 'conspiracy'. So we'll never know.

That's what I'm saying! We're gathering proof, and we continue debates! And you end a debate with no proof! Another exclamtion!
And the proof that Zelda is canon is straght from the creators.

How can an entire series "not be canon"? When something is canon, it means it actually happened within some sort of continuity. If it is considered non-canon, it means it did not happen. If there is no official canon, then what happened and what didn't happen is typically in the minds of fans, otherwise referred to as "fanon". Fanon can also apply to things that haven't been or have yet to be explained in an official canon, if a number of fans can all agree on the same theory.

I think what he meant is that the series has a continuity, as opposed to the games being independent continuities without any connection to other games (with the exception of direct sequels).

Let's definitely not forget the magical DKU touch of eternal pwnism that is passed on unto the series of anyone from another series who made but a simple cameo appearance in games that DK has starred in (Banjo and Conker come to mind). How, just how did we miss this throughout this whole topic?
I've heard once that Banjo and Conker were originally intended to be truly DK-related. Is that true?

The DKU is a fanon universe, and neither Chad nor Slush will ever admit that. Banjo and Conker technically were related to DKC as a result of making their debut in DKR, and then later having their respective games contain references to DKC and vice-versa.
The same kinds of references were kind of fueling my desire to create a coherent Nintendo universe, as I mentioned on the SSB board.

The DKU is a fanon universe, and neither Chad nor Slush will ever admit that. That's all I ever wanted them to do... That and stop mixing serious discussions on canon DK and DKU DK.

Yeah well that doesn't mean you should say it's fact and everything else is wrong and end a discussion. Man, people these days!

So since he ended the topic, let's get back on to it.
Continue Topic.
What exactly IS the DKU, am I the only one who doesn't know?

The DKU is an ideology of the sorts that tries to group Donkey Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, and even Viva Pinata under the same universe.
Basically they make up some sort of silly rules that if certain characters from the DK franchise appear in other games they are then somehow a part of the same universe.
For example: because Roysten (a fish who appeared briefly in the Banjo games) made a cameo in the background of Grabbed by the Ghoulies, those two games exist on the same planet. And because Banjo appeared in Diddy Kong Racing that means Banjo is a part of the same world as DK.
Therefor Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a part of the same world as Donkey Kong.
Insane? Yes. Logical? No.

I'd go for Banjo, Conker and DK being in the same universe (if only because of Diddy Kong Racing), but I'm sure Roysten being in GbtG was just an intentional cameo.
*gets shot*
