Meganium and Tropius would make a great couple. Gay dinosaurs for the win! And Omastar's probably a bit fruity too

I do hate the DPP starters, though. While Torterra looks awesome, and I kinda like the way Piplup and Empoleon are designed, they all have such weak-ass stats and learn such weak-ass moves that training them is more of a hassle than not. Diamond is the only game I didn't build my team around my starter in. Poor ol' Infernape just sits in his box all alone these days.

I've never bothered training it, so I don't have a grasp on how good/bad it actually is...then again, maybe that's excuse enough for me to give it a shot this time around? (I do hate the DPP starters, though. Chikorita and evolutions are a bit tough to train. They're more defensive Pokémon (but their type has many weaknesses). The time I raised one, it was actually Bayleef in Colosseum, so Razor Leaf didn't help much because its damage is split in double battles on top of being weak. That and the first two Johto Gyms being Flying and Bug make me not recommend Chikorita to new Trainers. You're not a newbie, though. Meganium and Tropius would make a great couple. Boooo.
I tend to go for Fire, personally, but I really don't like Infernape or Typhlosion enough to opt for them. I've had personal experience with Infernape and by GOD that monkey's dull.

I prefer to avoid training defensive Pokemon; I like doling out the damage fast, so I usually go for a team with high Atk. stats if I can help it. If I go for one with higher Def., I really have to want to train it XD

Apparently Junichi Masuda wants to see Pokemon take a more action-oriented route. Anybody else see that on gonintendo? Want to provide a link?

I just realized that your starters, even when fully evolved, can follow you around in the Amity Square of Platinum. I think this feature could work always in HG/SS, even if you evolve them.
In Pokémon Yellow, this was more because it mirrored how Ash's Pikachu is never inside its Poké Ball. These games, though, are independent, so I'm not sure if they'll start some kind of trend.

Brawl. That's all I gotta say about that. Brawl. I would LOVE an action-oriented Pokemon game, but only if it's like a dual release with the more strategic version, so you get the action versions on a console, the strategy versions on a handheld. They play alike, but the strategy is just a regular Pokemon game while the action is like Brawl crossed with Legend of Zelda.

I hope they find a way to make the saving of data less heavy in these new versions. That "Saving a lot of data..." status is one of the only things I currently don't like about the games.

Gonna roll with Cyndaquil XD he was my favorite of the 2Gen starters. Because I'm a Nintendo whore, I never played the Dreamcast, nor would I have considered touching it. That's a shame, you missed out on a fantastic console, right there. And I thought I was the only member @boss I don't understand why Empoleon is feeble, Empoleon is a tank isn't it.
