Reviews for NP are a bit biased. Pokemon XD did not deserve a 8.5. But, they aren't overly biassed. They don't give every game made by Nintendo a 10, and Nintendo games usually get high scores, but yeah., they are a bit biased.
I think I agree wwith Mr. Phillips. The old way of reviewing was nice, but I beleived it also wasn't biased and gave you 5 different scores.

Pokémon XD doesn't deserve to be used for ass wiping, let alone video gaming. They took the half-broken mechanics from Colosseum and made them worse--then made every other character speak in the third person, just to piss in the open wound. That, right there, should be prüf positive that Nintendo Power is better off gone.

I happened to like Pokemon XD ;D Ticked all the boxes for me - Pokemon catching, Pokemon battles and that's about it! I don't need much more from my Pokemon gaming.

I liked Collesuem just fine. it worked well, and was interesting. XD was just a rehash of the same game. Kill ya to make some new places.

My problem with Colosseum is that it was too restricting. You only had...what, 58 or so Pokémon you could choose from to build a team? If that. Combined with the fact that there's a dire lack of decent fire and fighting types to snag, and a LOT of steel types to face, it kind of sucked. And the parter was a pain in the ass. And I'm getting a feeling of deja vu...I've already gone through why I don't like Colosseum in a past topic, so I won't bore you all. My feeling on XD is basically "Colosseum, but with more people talking in the third person."

Nintendo Gamer is also dead... at basically the same time as Nintendo Power.
Conspiracy?

Here's a new rumor I heard on SideScrollers. They said the new rumor is that Nintendo Power is actually going to be a Wii Channel. Keep in mind this is only a rumor. Now, discuss!

I thought part of the point of a magazine was to promote the console and its games to everyone. By making the purchase of the console mandatory before you can read it aren't you going to damage the market?
But then I don't know their reader statistics or sales figures. Maybe they've been struggling for years. But I still think an inviting videogame magazine that attracts new readers as well as seasoned gamers is the aim for all vg magazine publishers.

The Only good thing about NP is that you get promotionals like Link's Pattern Animal Crossing e-reader card.

They don't give every game made by Nintendo a 10, and Nintendo games usually get high scores, but yeah., they are a bit biased. "Usually"? Remember the Geist review? Saim: It died at the same time? Nintendo Power isn't dead, so therefore, Nintendo Gamer is still alive.

The scores are not biased when you look at other magazines and compare. They've given bad reviews to so many Nintendo games... www.gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/DBDBAA74-D8AD-4175-8286-3E54EB0494F1.htm NP's dead unless Reggie takes over and I hate that bastard. Comes in from nowhere and everyone loves him... Anyone can kick ass and take names, you just need to find someone weaker than you. Fryguy, if you were to bring back Splash pages or make a little banner change (please do first one!) I would make a tombstone for Nester or NP itself. Once it's a little moreso confirmed.

The wikipedia article on Nintendo Power doesn't say it's leaving so I wouldn't be worried about it. The magazine however, has not been good since the mid '90s. I had the magazine as a kid (early '90s), and then I didn't have it for like 11 years and got it again, and I loved it. But that was around 1998, and the magazine quickly became really crappy. It's recently got better, but it's not that great. I wouldn't be so sad to see it leave.
I like EGM and Games for Windows (Computer Gaming World), but I really love Game Informer and PC Gamer. Other than that, I mostly read the major websites more than magazines.
On a related note, I loved the offical playstation magazine that Ziff Davis set up for Sony. The issues were thick, filled with reviews and details, and loads of demos came packed with each issue. Why did that have to leave?

Apologies for bumping such an old thread, but there's a new bit of news. According to Next Generation, NoA will no longer publish Nintendo Power magazine in-house. Instead, publishing duties are going to Future US. What will this mean for the magazine's content? Probably not much unless it's also getting a staff change, but there's no word on that so far. Considering this, the move of NoA's offices to L.A. and New York, as well as the official web site's impending overhaul, there's definitely some serious stuff happening behind the scenes at NoA.

Oh wait ;D Future Publishing are who does the Official Nintendo Magazine UK! I didn't realise they had a US office. Hey, hopefully this will mean more consistency - Future have surprisingly high standards in the UK.

the official Swedish Nintendo Magazine was originally (1988-2007) only availible for Club Nintendo Members. Since January you can get it free in most stores or read it on the web. in 1990 Club Nintendo Magazine(then known as Nintendo Videospelsklubb(Nintendo Videogame club))got competition from Nintendo Magasinet(Nintendo Magazine) which was much better than the official. Unfortunately it got cancelled in 1994. January this year anew unofficial nintendo magazine started(named +N) which is much better.
