But the DS will connect wirelessly anyway. So you could just use the DS instead.

This is what I imagined from the first day Nintendo introduced the Revolution. You hold the controller with your left hand and controll the track-ball with the right hand. To use the "C" button, hold down the "C" button and move the track-ball around.

That's good... but don't you ever use the Control Stick and C-Stick at the same time? Bits of Super Mario Sunshine were virtually impossible without using both of them in tandem. I hate those rotating wooden blocks

The camera is the main cause for me always to lose in some particular stages.
Maybe they should make a cpntroller for better camera control.

I like the controller with the 6 customisable buttons - chuck in a gyro sensor, a screen and stick a projector on the Rev and thats what I hope it'll be.
Though I doubt it.

] The gyro scopes could move the camera.

My second design Thats right. Just a touch screen with L and R. Different controllers designs will appear on the screen that is right for each game. Its a great idea. You know it is. ;D

You know it is. ;D I don't think so. Imagine that there is an A button and a B button appear, and when you trying to press them both, the controller will think that you are pressing somewhere between the 2 buttons. Unless someone invented touch screens that can detect multiple touches simultaneously.

I really don't want that touch screen idea to be true, especially since it would go against the idea of making it easier for people that don't usually play games - they'd have to learn a completely different set-up for each game!

Also, part of the reason the control pad is such a popular device is because the FEEL of the buttons give you instant feedback as to the position of your fingers. Once you've gotten used to it, you instinctively know where your fingers are. With a touch screen device (especially one that changes on a regular basis) you would have no such input, and would have to keep looking down to check the position of your fingers are correct.
The DS works, because the control method and the place where the action is occuring are one and the same, so rather than looking down at the controls - breaking the action - the two are uniquely combined.
If the same rules were applied to a TV game system then it would not only scare away gamers who have grown up on intuitive button inputs, but it would also scare away new gamers who would have to check they're pressing the right buttons even more than they already do.
In short, for the small benefit it provides in giving custom controls for each game, there will be a huge loss in being a controller that anyone can pick up and use.

Which is why I'm quite fond of this idea, where the buttons are actually buttons, but still indicate exactly what it is they do - If that was it, I'd be quite happy, to be honest - but its not really "revolutionary" is it? So who knows?

Genius indeed I've also seen a keyboard on the internet somewhere that does the same thing... I'd love to have one of those, but unfortunately it won't be released until some time in 2006.
