You know, Fry reminded me of something: Miyamoto had said that they weren't revealing info on the Rev controller out of fear someone would steal it. He pointed to the analog joystick, rumble feature, GameBoy connectivity, first-party wireless controllers, and a few other things. And this download service appears to be the next one. Poor Nintendo. They didn't have too much to show at E3, and what they did has already been copied by somebody else

The X-Box Live Arcade service wasn't a copy of Nintendo's idea... it's available for the X-Box, but in a very basic form, and not really pushed by Microsoft. For the 360 they seem to be really pushing the service.
So, I guess you could say Nintendo is copying Microsoft... kinda.

Alright, but the other stuff was clearly copied. I mean, the original Playstation controller is like... exactly the same as the SNES, with the two handles and the additional shoulder buttons. Nintendo's got a right to be concerned.

This thread has a cohesive point Fryguy? I'll just say this. When BMW develops cars, we don't suggest that Mercedes are copying BMW by having a spare tyre, airconditioning, and speakers. These things have become the norm for cars - they are things that worked. The console controllers are all quite similar at this current stage - they aren't necessarily "copying" each other - rather they ave conformed to a norm that works. Sure, some of Nintendo's ideas were emulated by others, and other console's features have surely been emulated by Nintendo - it's simply companies adopting what works to make their product better and allow it to remain competitve. It's unavoidable and normal - all features will evetually crop up somewhere else. I just thought I'd add that to this topic that is supposed to be about Zelda... ZELDA!!! ;D

It seems Nintendo are conpensating for this news with a truckload of new screens. And looking through the release lists, it may be a blessing in disguise for me - I did not release Mario & Luigi 2 and Super Mario Strikers are both scheduled for this year, and, without Zelda, I'll have a bit of extra cash.
So its not all bad.

Well, I'm looking at getting a DS with SM64DS, New SMB, M&L2, and maybe Advance Wars DS - if that doesn't ide me over for ages...
Actually, that might be a bit too expenise now that I think about it... Well, here in Australia, the PSP will be around AUD$400 (approx.), plus a game will make it closer to AUD$480 (or something). A DS is AUD$200, and then add 4 AUD$70 games... makes it AUD$480!
So, here in Australia, a PSP with one game will cost the same as a DS with 4! I think I know what I'm buying for Christmas then! ;D

Plus you can get different colours, which I've heard you complain about before. Too bad its a pink one and a blue one that seems stuck between the incredibly cool turquoise one and the still pretty cool electric blue. And they've got craptacular names. But cool nontheless.
And despite that price difference, PSP will still sell like hotcakes. Except most hotcakes are pretty cheap.

Yeah, I like the blue one that Australia is getting, so I might pick that one up.
I'm sure the PSP will do very well over here. It does so many things!
Thing is, I can get more games on a DS (in terms of affordability), and not just regular run-of-the-mill minituarised PS2-type games. They are games that are oftentimes only made possible by the DS's features.
Heck, if I had bucketloads of spare cash, I'd probably get a PSP along with a DS, but I don't... so, I'll choose.
