Wow, been a while!
Almost two years ago, I started playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Hero Mode, and I made it through a large chunk of the game. Then Hyrule Warriors came out, and I put down Skyward Sword. Now, after spending more than 350 hours playing Hyrule Warriors, I've decided it's time to go back to playing a real Zelda game, and I've picked up Skyward Sword again right where I left off.
And that has gotten me hyped up for learning more about Zelda Wii U/NX next week!
Also, I'm working my way through Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness, which is considered one of the best games in the Quest for Glory series, and I can see why. It feels more like the original game in terms of structure, but it's got a Gothic horror atmosphere, and the story is starting to tie the series together.

Finished my Hero Mode playthrough of Skyward Sword. I forgot how much personality Link actually has in that game. In most Zelda games, with all the characters around him driving the story, it sometimes feels like Link is just an innocent bystander that's being taken advantage of. But his determination to find Zelda in Skyward Sword really makes him more heroic and likable. Easily one of my favorite Links.
And Groose is still awesome. #GrooseForHyruleWarriors
And now I'm kinda inspired to play some Fire Emblem due to that retrospective coming back. I was partway through Ephraim's story in Sacred Stones last time I played it, but maybe I should start over since I got both my healers killed.

I went ahead and started that fresh game of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. I'm already up to the part where the story splits, and I'm taking Eirika's path. I've also kept everyone alive so far, but unlike my last playthrough, I'm abusing save states and I've reset a few times. I'm also playing on easy mode, but I'm not sure if it's actually easier or if it's the same as normal but with some tutorial stuff added near the beginning.
Speaking of Fire Emblem, why isn't Shadow Dragon on the eShop in North America yet?

Nice observation. Easy actually isn't easier. Once you're past Chapter 8, there'll be no difference at all.

Got a little stuck on chapter 12 of Sacred Stones. The goal is to survive 11 turns, but the game throws a super powerful magic user with enormous range at me in the last three turns, and even using save states, it's hard to survive without any casualties. I may have to sacrifice someone.
I also picked up the Sonic Humble Bundle, mainly for Sonic CD and Sonic Generations, and I'm enjoying both so far. It's also an opportunity for me to try out Sonic 4: Episode II and the original Sonic & All-Stars Racing, altho the latter doesn't seem to run too well on my PC.

I may have to sacrifice someone. You don't survive 11 turns in Chapter 12. You're talking about Chapter 13. At this point, you should have already promoted a handful of your units (if not, Seth is still useful). Put your strong units on the right hand side and endure. Did you get Restore from the last chapter? If not, you may want to position your units with Sleep in mind. Units with high Res are more resistant to status ailments, but those units probably don't stand up well against physical enemies.

You don't survive 11 turns in Chapter 12. You're talking about Chapter 13. Thank goodness, I'm further along than I thought. I can hold my position well enough (and recruit Cormag and Amelia). It's when Pablo shows up that things have gotten tricky. Aside from just hoping I get lucky that his Elfire misses, I suppose I can try rushing Aias, but I also wonder if I could use Colm to steal Pablo's Elfire.

GBA Thieves can't steal weapons. And yes, if you can kill Aias ASAP, please do. Trying to get near Pablo at this point is basically suicide. If you're lucky, you can steal his Guiding Ring on the turn you plan to kill Aias, but don't stay any longer.

It's been a while since anything at all happened to this forum (I can see why, there's no news you can't get elsewhere anyway, and most of them don't have much space for discussion), so have a random report of whet I've been playing.
I've been trying to complete a few games I could almost finish, and perhaps get more games to fill the gap. I missed a few 3DS and Wii U games before, so the bottom line is, the lack of Nintendo news doesn't feel too bad.
Daigasso! Band Brothers P Debut: I finally got to the 1 million fans goal in the game (you get 10000 by getting 80%+ in one instrument in Master difficulty, and a further 5000 by getting 80%+ in all instruments). It's only a checkpoint with nothing but a hat as a reward (and you don't see your own avatar most of the time anyway), but I'd say it's a good point at which you can say you've beaten the game.
Fire Emblem Fates: I'm still trying to get collect all support conversations. Having to beat the same paralogue chapters repeatedly feels tiring (same deal as Awakening, except that the chapters are more complex in Fates), but since I do most of them at work during lunch break, they don't feel too bad. And I'm only halfway in Revelations, which means I still have about 4.5 playthroughs before I can declare everything complete.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE: I've got the team to having all stats to above 150, and they defeated the secret boss with ease. I've also finished preparations for the next (3rd) playhrough and one-turned the regular final boss. Now I only have one play record left to get (complete the game 3 times) before reaching 100% completion.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: Got 130 out of 140 challenges done. Currently pursuing finishing Intensity 9.0 Classic with no customizations.
I've also recently (finally) bought Mario Kart 8. Outstanding unfinished games I have include Super Mario 3D World (still need to complete Championship Road and finish all levels with all characters), Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (defeat the final boss without taking damage; I don't know if I want to complete that), and Star Fox Zero/Guard (which I have given up on).

Two years later, and I'm still playing Hyrule Warriors, although I think I'm coming to the end of doing everything I really care to do in it. A couple of days ago, I completed the final illustration, which means I have collected all of the Gold Skulltulas . I also have all of the weapons, as well as all of the costumes that can be collected from the adventure maps (there are still at least a couple in the challenge mode). Other than that, I'd like to finish all of the missions on the Termina Map (although I've beaten the final boss) and maybe collect a few more heart containers. Also, I have yet to unlock the Giant Cucco.
A couple of weeks ago, I bought Noitu Love: Devolution on the eShop. It's a fun Treasure-style action game that relies heavily on the touch screen (although it also supports Remote+Nunchuck).
I also started to replay Bayonetta 1, but I probably won't finish it.

Pokémon Y/Omega Ruby, Super Mario Maker, Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow/other old Pokémon games I haven't been playing much else recently, ha ha. I can't wait for Pokémon Sun and Moon but hope they make a way to transfer items without having to obtain them again.

I'm almost a year late, but I finally bought the full version of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water.
I've never played a Fatal Frame game before, but I'm enjoying it. The combat is a little tedious, but maybe that's because I haven't been upgrading the camera much. Still, it feels like ghosts attack a little too often.
On a side note, I'm a little annoyed that for a full-priced game on the eShop, it was not worth any coins on My Nintendo just because it's technically considered DLC for the trial version. Not that the coins are useful for much anyway, but it underscores my impression that the whole My Nintendo rewards program is kinda worthless.

When you upgrade the cameras you'll make short work of the ghosts.

Also, I realized that when I'm drenched, it makes the random ghost encounters more frequent.
On the upside, I've been getting lots of A and S ranks from all the extra points.

Finished Fatal Frame a couple of days ago. It did start to drag in places towards the end, except for that one chapter that really cranked up the intensity and was awesome because of it. But overall, I really enjoyed it.
I got all good endings my first time through. I remember seeing comments online that the endings seemed unsatisfying and rushed, but I don't feel that way at all. In fact, I found them refreshingly subtle and tactful, and they hit just the right emotional note for me.
I finished the bonus chapters with Ayane yesterday. They were interesting, but not terribly substantial.
So, my first experience with Fatal Frame has been very positive. I hope I get the chance to try more games in the series in the future, but seeing as how that's up to Nintendo of America, I can't say I'm super optimistic.
