As we all know, the Revolution will contain a virtual console that plays NES, SNES and N64 games, as well as Sega Genesis and Hudson/NEC TurboGrafx16 games.
We also know that these two companies are the only ones currently signed up to make their content available. So while it's entirely likely that people like Capcom, Konami, Taito and Namco will sign up their Nintendo-system classics... they haven't done so yet.
Which leaves us with a question. Apart from the NES, SNES and N64 games that were published by Nintendo (not including a few where the licenses have expired, or allowing for unusual circumstances - most Rare games for example), what games WILL we be getting?
It has been said that the "best of" the Genesis and TurboGrafx16 line-ups will be available. Well, what are the "best of" for these consoles?
At first, at least, I forsee an abundance of Sonic the Hedgehog, Bomberman and Bonk's Adventure games. Are there any titles on these two systems that you think we MUST get? Any Sega Genesis games you MUST play again? Any TurboGrafX titles that you MUST have a go at?
Post away!

Ummm... I dunno. I'm not familiar with the library of those two systems, my Sega knowledge extends to a few Master System and Mega Drive games (ah, the fluffy memories of youth) - before I moved on to the Nintendo 64 and never looked back to Sega.
If by some meager chance that those Sega systems will be featured in Virtual Console, I would definately recommend Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 1 + 2, and Greendog the Beached Surfer Dude.

For the Genesis/Mega Drive: Goes without saying, but all the main Sonic games, as well as some of the spin-offs. Ecco the Dolphin 1 & 2 Streets of Rage 1, 2 & 3 Vectorman 1 & 2 Phantasy Star 2, 3 & 4 Shining Force 1 & 2 Columns 1, 2 & 3 Golden Axe 1, 2 & 3 Outrun Altered Beast And the piece de resistance: Gunstar Heroes. (If you didn't get the sequel for the GBA last year, you really missed out.) I'm not as familiar with the TG-16/PC Engine. But I expet the Bonk's Adventure series to make it. And if Konami ever signs on, I would hope and pray for Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. I'm getting greedy, now. EDIT: Just thought of a couple of other TG-16 games. Devil's Crush and Alien Crush are a couple of video pinball games that I always heard were among the best ever. I would definitely want those.

I found a list of all the games Hudson made for the TurboGrafx16. Sure enough, there's the Bonk games, Bomberman, a couple of RPGs and a hell of a lot of shmups (including some Bonk shmups!)

A Japanese website. Here is that list.
TURBOGRAFX16 Hudson Soft - Software List
AERO BLASTERS AIR ZONK BLAZING LAZERS BOMBERMAN BOMBERMAN '93 BONK'S ADVENTURE BONK'S REVENGE BONK 3: BONK'S BIG ADVENTURE BONK 3: BONK'S BIG ADVENTURE CD BUSTER BROS. CHEW-MAN-FU CHINA WARRIOR COTTON CRATERMAZE DRAGON SLAYER: THE LEGEND OF HEROES DRAGON'S CURSE DUNGEON EXPLORER DUNGEON EXPLORER II THE DYNASTIC HERO FIGHTING STREET GATE OF THUNDER GODZILLA J.B. HAROLD MURDER CLUB J.J. & JEFF JACKIE CHAN'S ACTION KUNG-FU KEITH COURAGE IN ALPHA ZONES LORDS OF THUNDER MIGHT & MAGIC III: ISLES OF TERRA MILITARY MADNESS MONSTER LAIR NEUTOPIA NEUTOPIA II NEW ADVENTURE ISLAND POWER GOLF PRINCE OF PERSIA RAIDEN RIOT ZONE SIM EARTH: THE LIVING PLANET SOLDIER BLADE SUPER AIR ZONK SUPER STAR SOLDIER TIMEBALL VICTORY RUN WORLD CLASS BASEBALL WORLD SPORTS COMPETITION YS: BOOK I&II YS III: WANDERERS FROM YS
The list of Sega's Genesis games I'm working on is a touch longer... but most of them weren't developed by Sega - it's just a matter of sifting out the ones Sega will definitely consider, and the ones they won't.
A bit like the Nintendo list. You can make a list of every published-by-Nintendo game on the NES, SNES and N64 (like I have!), but chances are that they won't be able to use quite a lot of them without permission from other companies.
Some permissions (Square-Enix, Capcom) will be easier to get. Some (Rare) will not. Which unfortunately means some of the best games will not appear. Goldeneye? Banjo-Kazooie? Even Uniracers might be hard to come by...

Haha, I just did some research into Adventure Island. What a palava! Basically, a company called Escape programmed the original "Wonder Boy" for the Arcade, and Sega and Escape brought Wonder Boy to their home consoles. However, Escape also teamed up with Hudson to bring Wonder Boy to the NES, but Sega threw a wobbly, and so the title of the game was changed to Adventure Island, and the character from Wonder Boy to Mr. Higgins. So they're the same game... I wonder which one we'll get Sequels to both were unrelated. Still, strange how Hudson clings to the original Adventure Island so much, when it's not even their game.

Bad news! The Rare N64 games like these: Jet Force Gemini Perfect Dark Banjo-Kazooie Banjo-Tooie Conker's Bad Fur Day
In addition, it is unlikely that Goldeneye 007 will appear on the virtual console as both Rareware and Electronic Arts (the series' new license holder) would have to commit to the virtual console.
...will NOT be in the Virtual Console! Head for the hills!

But I thought Nintendo kept the rights to Jet Force Gemini? That's what I heard, anyway... though thinking about it... it seems odd.

Yes, especially as Nintendo didn't publish Jet Force Gemini in the first place.
The only Rare games that might possibly be brought across are: Donkey Kong Country Donkey Kong Country 2 Donkey Kong Country 3 Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run Donkey Kong 64 Diddy Kong Racing ...and maybe Blast Corps... but I'm not too sure about that.

Nope. Or at least, they haven't said so yet. Right now they've only announced Gensis games.
