Uh-wow. It seems that we'll need another couple of time to get used to it like we did for SM64.
The player took some time to get used to the game, as you can see from the vid.

I know that im probably gonna get assasinated for saying this, but oh well I think Mario Galaxy is terrible, there I said it. From the looks of it, this space business is taking it a little too far, and after reading the speculation and watching the IGN vids over and over, I've come to the conclusion that I dislike this game a lot. This is my opinion however and it is likely to change as we hear more but I have a bad feeling about it. All I can say is sigh...I guess someones gona slag me now? hehe ;D

You're entitled to an opinion... so long as it's not a stupid opinion. ;D
I haven't made my mind up. On the one hand it looks excellent and truly weird. On the other... I'm just not sure. Is it too weird? Have they sacrificed normal 3D play before I could get my fill of it? I loved 64 and I loved Sunshine. This looks like it has the potential to be among them... but at the same time...
But you know... I'll love it. It is Mario, after all!

I hope it wasnt a stupid opinion, Im quite good at those though! I wouldnt mind it so much if the planets weren't so damn small, it seems you will be spending a lot of your time in the middle of space. But asides from that heres my thoughts on Mario Galaxy: ~ Graphics: Great, loving it, and Mario is still looking in top condition. ~ Gameplay: Hmm, having initial doubts about this. I knew Mario games were out of the ordinary (how many plumbers do you know that save the world on a regular basis?) - But, space? I don't know... Trademark moves and Additional moves are always welcome, I hope we see more. ~ Overall: I hope it grows on me like Mario eating a Mushroom, but I have to see more. Okay, Later guys!

You know what's interesting about Super Mario Galaxy? When I first heard the name, it reminded me of a letter from a really old issue of Nintendo Power magazine. I just dug up the issue (December 1991, volume 31), and I'll type the letter here. The magazine asked readers to imagine the ultimate gaming system, and this was one of the responses:
--- My fantasy game system would be a complex 512-bit system. It could display 27,876,992 colors at one time and could play any game from any video game system that ever was or ever will be! There would be a miniature band inside that knew how to play any song! You could even buy a special chip that would allow you to make your own games for it! What game would come with the system, you ask: Super Mario Galaxy, better known as Super Mario Bros. 24! The system would come with six 27-button controllers and would cost $259.95. I would call it The Raw Power System! ---
Reminds me of a similar prediction I heard about Yoshi's Island years before it was even in production.
As for the game itself, I have a love/hate relationship with the 3D Mario games. Super Mario 64 was pure magic when I first played it. But a few months later, after I got all 120 stars, I was never interested in it again. Even when I forgot what it was like and tried to go back to replay it, it couldn't hold my interest. It was dull, tedious and frustrating. I tried Sunshine, and I never even finished it. I felt pretty much the same way. I think SMG looks really cool, but I don't know if I'll like it any differently than 64 or Sunshine. If it's more linear, as has been suggested, I think that could be a good thing.

Whoever was battling the boss seemed to get the hang of it quickly enough. I'm not too worried.
I do agree about the planet hopping though. That doesn't seem too fun, but we'll see.

It looks like it's gonna be better than Sunshine but if it's a SM64 beater...well I'll just have to play the final version to decide.

I was a little unsure at first, but that boss video has swayed my opinion.
It's going to be fantastic. And anyone who disagrees is a communist.

Hmm, I think that is a little unfair... each to their own I guess.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mario games, The 2D ones were great and SM64/64DS and Sunshine were great, or else I wouldn't have spent my hard earned $$$ on them.
Its just that in my opinion SMG isn't looking fantastic to me. Is that communism?

Awesome. ;D I'm expecting it'll be fairly bizarre story-wise, too.

Apparantly the game is done by the same people behind Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - which I thought was excellent.
I'm really excited about this game. The graphics are stunning and the boss battles look like a lot of fun. Can't wait.

I like the planets. They seem so original and out there. Leave it to Nintendo to come up with an original idea in an overstaturated industry.

Yeah, the planets leave a lot of room for variety. They can have totally different planets in the same goal and not have to worry about it being awkward.
I'd like to see Tatanga return and a Moon level like those found in Super Mario Land 2.
