Yeah, but in MKDD the computer doesn't get ANY blue shells until tou reach the 100cc difficulty, whereas in MKDS the computer has them in 50cc. I've been hit by two blue shells in 1 lap, something that NEVER happens in MKDD.

You know, MKDS is actually somehow more well-designed than MKDD. In MKDD, computer players just team up and all aim to the human player(s), thoush they may get different items as a "handicap" for the human player. At least much better than the SMK, I'd say.
As for MKDS, CPs are just... CPs. They don't all aim at the player, but at the same time, what they get aren't really related to the level you choose. Assume that players at the 7th and 8th get blue shells, get to a better position and the one who fell behind get blue shells again... Theorically since only the first few CPs are "especially strong", you may have a chance to get hit by 3 or 4 blue shells consecutively. Call that bad luck.
The last time I play the game on Rainbow Road, I keep getting hit when I'm about to turn or jump, and I keep falling out of the track. It's miserable, I tell ya.
...But all these (and the bad thing about MP7) still shouldn't make you miffed.
And you know, I'll only get mad when dealing with hard strategy RPGs made by Intelligent Systems.

Kirby's Air Ride made me feel like slamming the controller against the wall.

No. I like the Air Ride control scheme more than the other racing games'. It makes me feel more comfortable that I don't have to press A all the time.

I've been hit by multiple blue shells in a single lap of Double Dash before. I've actually been hit by two blue shells while on the final stretch before - turning my perfect lead into an 8th place finish on the Mirror Cup. I was not best pleased.
However, I did manage to dodge a Blue Shell ONCE. It was on the Bowser's Castle stage. I was power sliding round the corridors and one flew at me and exploded against the wall. I've never been able to replicate that.
MKDS is an easier game. You do get hit with Blue Shells, but it doesn't seem quite so detrimental to success as it did in Double Dash.
I'm not the biggest fan of Kirby Air Ride, but I can sit down and enjoy it sometimes. Especially if you're aiming for a completed checklist! Turns an easy game into a devillishly hard one.

You know, I managed to dodge blue shells in Double Dash TWO times. Nah, it's just pure luck.
And Air Ride is yet another game in Sakurai's style: many difficulty levels in a single game.
And in MKDS, maybe you frequently get hit or thrown away, but mostly you'll still end up having the 1st place.

I've never been able to replicate that. How are you able to power slide in Mario Kart DD? The way I dodge blueshells is to fall off the track

You power slide the same as you do in MKDS.
In MKDS there are alot fewer blue shells. Also there given to 3rd and 4th who need then, instead of DD which gives the 6th-8th.There about the same in power but DS's is a tad weaker.

Best is when a blue shell, or a lightening bolt is about to be used, and you go up that tube in Rainbow road (MKDD)

The Barrel Cannon is better, simply because DK Mountain is better than Rainbow Road.

The Barrel Cannon is better, simply because DK Mountain is better than Rainbow Road. Haha, I concur sir! Maybe I always played with funky settings, but getting hit by two blue shells in one lap seemed pretty common place in Double Dash for me. I don't own the game though, so I don't really know whats up...
