eBay is the only likely place... but I'm not sure how easy it would be to find one. It'd probably be easier to just buy a Famicom and a power converter

Buy a Famicom. It's the better solution.

I read that there are converters in old nes games. Is this true?

Yes, but it involves buying specific games, tearing them apart, doing some engineering work on your NES... I wouldn't risk it, frankly.

Japenese Famicoms are expensive. Maybe ill just get a hardware clone.

To play Super Famicom games (JPN, PAL, and US SNES games), buy an Action Replay, it worked for me. But you need the game that was included with your SNES, which I got!

I read that nintendos licence on nes has expired so hardware clones are legal as long as there arnt any illegal roms.

No, Nintendo has kept their hardware licensing up to date. They refreshed a bunch of their licenses last year, if I remember correctly.
And software is covered by the same 75 year copyright laws as books, films and audio.

Stupid lawyers!
I want a Generation NEX with a peripheral letting me copy ROMs onto NES carts and blank NES carts! Heh, then I'd get sued into oblivion.

Most likely SMW. The very game included with your SNES.
