Cool! I was wondering how many of these predictions would turn out to be accurate.
As far as the C64 is concerned, Impossible Mission sounds like a likely candidate to follow up (or precede) the WiiWare version. But I wonder if we would be more likely to see the NES version of California Games.
Also, who currently owns the rights to the original Turrican? I know Factor 5 worked on the later games, and Julian Eggebrecht has expressed interest in doing a new one. Does that mean Factor 5 owns the rights to the entire series?

Who was the publisher? Usually, if there's just the one, then it's the publisher that owns the rights, while if there's more than one, it's the developer. Doesn't always work (company buyouts, etc.), but as a general rule...

Well, from some quick and dirty research, the original Turrican on the C64 was published by Rainbow Arts, which was absorbed into THQ in the late 90's. THQ is not currently listed as a VC supporter. Both the original and sequel were designed and developed for the C64 by Manfred Trenz. Factor 5 was only involved in the Amiga ports.
The various sequels seem to have been published by many different companies, with even different ones in each region. Super Turrican, which is already available on the VC in EU and NA was originally published by Seika (US), Hudson (EU) and Tonkin House (JP). However, according to GameFAQs, the VC release is attributed solely to Factor 5.
Almost all of the sequels/spin-offs after Turrican II were original creations of Factor 5, except for the NES game titled Super Turrican, which is not the same as the SNES game. The NES version was, again, designed and developed entirely by Manfred Trenz and released only in Europe. (In this day and age, it's almost amazing to think that a commercial console game could be programmed entirely by one person!)
It seems pretty messy, but I guess it boils down to who owns the rights to Turrican I & II and NES Super Turrican. Being that the only other games in the series currently rated for release are Super Turrican II and Mega Turrican, both Factor 5 creations, the prospects don't look so good.

Nester - The thing with Impossible Mission is that System 3 included the original on the DS remake. I doubt (although, this is the VC, and rehashes are common *cough* Capcom *cough*) they'd do that. But I've been wrong before.

^ I somehow doubt that the DS game would block a VC release. I mean, it's fairly obscure, and most people probably aren't even aware that there is a DS remake (or that the original is unlockable within it, for that matter). I'm sure System 3 would be all for getting their game more exposure.
Besides, Nintendo still released Metroid on the VC, despite that it's available as an unlockable in Metroid Prime and Metroid: Zero Mission, as well as being a stand along GBA cartridge.

Heh, I know. Like I said, VC rehashes are common. XD My reasoning against Impossible Mission making it is that System 3 is also prepping a WiiWare version of the game, and if it's like the DS one, it'll include the original as well. I could totally be wrong, mind you, but we'll just have to see.

King's Knight has just been released on the US VC. Perhaps this means we can expect other NES era Square games in the future, like Rad Racer or 3D World Runner? I would bet Rad Racer.
