It looks that way, The first time the fuzzy scan is shown it's from TMK the other two are on an imageshack account. But all three in the origanal post are from TMK according to the image properties.

Looks like baseball cap, head, body. It's just baseball fans, not Mario heads. I seriously doubt TMK believes this is the case (as in Deezer, Megabyte, David Dayton, etc.) would allow a fuzzy magazine shot to be the deciding factor. Get a goddamn screenshot I bet it's nothing to do with it. Though those Super Metroid enemies do look like Buzzies. And you can't really argue with the Animal Crossing screen. Were all these nicked from TMK? The only place I could find them. I even search for the title of the game and I get that image.

Various Mario enemies have been used in other Nintendo games. Wart was in Links Awakening or one of those Gameboy games, I forget which. Chain Chomps were in A Link to the Past. So it's no surprise that Those Metroid characters looked like Buzzies. However, that could actually be Mario in the stands. He was in Mike Tyson's Punchout...or whatever...

Super Nintendo People look a lot alike. That's why I said earlier that they kind-of resembled Zelda3 Townspeople. But it's not Mario I'm Afraid.

In my Edge magazine review of Space Giraffe, there's also a screenshot saying "POD GET!" - a reference to the original Japanese Super Mario Sunshine. That crazy Jeff Minter sure loves his games. Don't forget "A Winner Is You" also comes from NES Pro Wrestling, and "Congraturation! You Success" is from "Stop the Express" (the ZX81 version of Challenger by Hudson)

Was Space Giraffe a joke or something?

Well, I hadn't seen that particular screenshot, only the "Pod Get!" one.
And Space Giraffe is an Xbox Live Arcade title, developed by a couple of guys, one of whom is a Welshman. It's a very real game (and good, apparently), but it is full of jokes and stuff - including psychedelic neon sheep.

You may have heard Fryguy but Kirby: Squeak Squad has a Master Hand Cameo in World 2's Secret Level...
A Shadow mimics the appearance of a giant hand that looks exactly like Master Hand...
