The NiGHTS game for Wii is already releasing a lot of images and mechanics of the game. As can be viewed here. Apparently, you can wear different masks which give you different powers (Majora's Mask anyone?) and also Wi-Fi has been confirmed. I'm really looking forward to this game!

Here's an interesting editorial from IGN titled " Does NiGHTS Still Matter?" It basically brings up the issue of whether or not the game has a chance at being successful. It also mentions that any possibility of other forgotten Sega franchises being revisited (ie Jet Grind Radio, Streets of Rage, Shenmue, etc.) could be heavily influenced by NiGHTS' success, or lack thereof.

Release date announced! It is December 18, 2007 for America. Not sure about the other countries... The Trailer in case you haven't seen it yet. Also confirmed, A-Life (from Sonic Adventure) and Wi-Fi!

You missed something cool - Sega have confirmed that the A-Life area in NiGHTS will use the Wii's Weather Channel to put the current real-life weather in your area into the game. First game to do it, as far as I'm aware, and it proves it's possible. Now I'm just hoping the next Animal Crossing will use it, too. ;D

I like the mask idea. I can't wait to try out the dragon form. It looks super cool.

Well, from what I've read in sources, this game is coming out in just four days here in America...(the 18th)

^ Yeah, Sega acted like they had a lot riding on this game (and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games), but I've heard that initial reviews aren't that great. The only one listed at Metacritic so far is from EGM, and it gave it a 72%. I suppose that's not awful, but probably not as high as a lot of people hoped. All in all, I'd have to say it's kind of typical for Sega at this point. I'll keep an eye out for more reviews.

How could you let down your audience, SEGA? How could you say NiGHTS was such a legendary game, and then just make an average sequel? I'm hoping those reviews aren't from a trusted source. If this game gets "72"'s all around, I will completely lose my faith in SEGA.

I read somewhere (I think it was gonintendo.com) that Nintendo Power gave it 9/10 so maybe it's not so bad after all.

^ Yeah, I heard that, too. But I would take a review from an official magazine with a grain of salt. Still, NP is a lot better than it used to be as far as reviews are concerned.
The general consensus I'm getting is that it's a decent game, but doesn't really go beyond the original in its design and execution. Being 12 years later, you'd expect more progress than that.

Eh, I'm gonna get it. I have memories with the first game...so...yup.
