This is an item that has absolutely no effect on characters...but it’s pretty fun. When you hit something with one of these...PSHHHHH! It releases a cloud of colored smoke! As the cloud forms, it blocks your vision with an effective smoke screen. If your opponent gets caught in a thick cloud of smoke, it’s a distraction, and if you’re covered in smoke, it’s harder for your opponent to see what moves you’re doing.Hmm... So colorful! You can even pick up Smoke Balls that are emitting smoke and carry them or throw them. Talk about smoke and mirrors!Cough! Cough!

A fairly tame one to start the week after last Friday's insanity. What's with all these Smash-only items?! I'm sure they could find Nintendo games to tie all of these to

It's an okay update. After Friday's update they couldn't do something to big or all the small updates would be left till last. I thought it was going to be Peach as the update today.

Yeah, I though it would be Peach too. And I also don't think they should put too many smash-original items into it. It's beginning to take overhand, the game is supposed to be a Nintendo-mix. I think it's cool they make items based on the fun-factor, but there is quite a few funny Nintendo-items out there they could feature.

Will the AI be actually affected by Smoke Balls? Also I'd like to know what ideas for items from Nintendo games you have since I don't have any.

But I was just thinking, I've seen quite a few in the TLoZ-series, that would be awesome for instance. My point is that there a loads and loads of them, and if you look for 'em, which I imagine is what Sakurai and his gang are doing, then you'll indeed find more than a few potential smash-items.

I thought it was the Pokemon item at first, but I guess not.
Geez... Smash Original Item overload >.<
And no Peach=unexpectedly lame update. It's a cool item, but not worth of following Friday. Definitely not worthy.
Methinks there's a pattern... Weeks that are great followed by so-so weeks followed by great weeks again. It's been happening for a while

I don't see a problem with having original items, since its fair to assume that most, if not all, of the old items are returning, a good percentage of which are from other games.
As for the smoke ball, I dunno, whatever, might be alright.

I'd like to see some Nintendo items.
But, yeah not a bad item. But, not a great on either. Fun for multiplayer but I doubt it's going to be a battle turner or have some amazing startigy to it.

Well, here's how I see it. Aren't character updates usually on Wednesday? And stages on Thursday. Friday is always a random update. Items on Monday, and I think they do another stage on Tuesday...Or everyday is just completely random.

Well, if you consider Final Smashes to be Item Updates (since it needs an item to be used), then yeah. I guess that kinda makes sense, in a roundabout way *shrug* I don't mind the Smoke Ball, it's cool. Very ninja-like. But a Nintendo based item once in a while wouldn't hurt either. Y'know, something like Fairy Bottles or Super Lollipops.

This is kind of boring. Hopefully, this leaves room for more exciting updates in the future.

Boring!? Don't you see the beauty in it? there are items that aren't combative but still fun.

I guess this can help comsels other things. If you visability is poor, then it may be hard to tell if your opponetn is charging a smash attack or not, or whether they have an item in their hand (and what is it). Or, if other items apper inside of the smoke.
