Is it possible that we'll see additional characters after release via Wiiconnect24?

Quite possible IMO. It's defiantly something I'd Like to see.

It's no doubt within the realms of possibility, although I imagine it's very unlikely. Don't forget, Sakurai doesn't work for Nintendo or HAL any more, and he will no doubt want to move on after Brawl is released, pretty much halting any chance of the game continuing to be worked on in the future. Nintendo could do it themselves - but I'm not entirely sure I'd want them to

What they could do is introduce a new method of unlocking a super-secret character that involves connecting to the Internet or playing n times online.

Fry summed it up. Although I think it's still possible. They did give him his own studio. Which makes me wonder. Will Sora Ltd. be a 2nd Party? Or, will it be third. It would be nice as it alsos Sakurai to be his own boss and work on his own priojects, which is what he wanted.

Nintendo would be the richest company ever if they sold fighters on the Wii Shop.

I wouldn't put it past Sakurai or Miyamoto I wonder how a Smash game would be made my Miyamoto? Miyamoto isn't on the team, but he's behind this game somewhat. He's Sakurai's mentor, more or less. He was at the unveiling, he's at the interviews and talking to magazines, and he was the one who kept telling Sakurai to ditch his idea of an expanded Adventure mode and go for expanded Multiplayer (fat lot of good that talking to did ) I wouldn't be surprised if after the game comes out Miyamoto comes up with some crazy hairbrained idea to let people download more content. A part of me recalls him saying something like that for Twilight Princess, but don't take that as fact. If anything, what I can envision is content in the simplest sense. New costumes, themes, or music for the game. Nothing spectacular like stages or fighters, but enough to get us by. Kinda like Mega Man Powered Up giving Roll new costumes every month, or Sonic letting you get bonuses at Christmas time.

Well, I was talking about what if Miyamoto was behind the franchise.
No one awnsered it, so I'll ask again. Is Sora a 2nd party or a 3rd?

Are you sure? I thought it was 3rd. It's Sakurai's own developer, and he's not a part of Nintendo or HAL anymore. But it was funded by Nintendo. So, it's hard to say. That's why I ask.

I would LOVE if new characters could be patched into the game following its release. New stages and music too would be awesome--it'd really add to the game's longevity (because after six years I can officially say I'm bored with the same old same old from Melee). The chances of it happening, though? Well, Nintendo is starting to head in that direction with the release of their Metroid Prime 3 Demo-Video from last week.
However--I agree, with Sakurai moving on it would seem pretty slim. Maybe the studios producing the game would continue to operate with Sakurai taking a more minimal role in the project--being, like, the last person to see anything before the content gets released so he can go ye or nay to it. This way he's free to work on his own projects in the meantime. It'd give characters like Samurai Goroh a chance to be playable. D:
I figure you could purchase the patches, like you can with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance on the 360. 100 Wii Points for an extra song, 400 for a level and 500 for a character. Seems fair enough to me.

Isn't Sora unrelated to SSB?
