The so called "very important role" in the Subspace Emissary could be something like this. At the end, the good guys recover the Halberd, Metaknight joins the rebellion, and then the ship is used to infiltrate into the "Floating Cyberdigital Transdimensional Fortress" of the enemy in an epic fashion. ...which implies that the Subspace Emissary is all one storyline, and characters are played when they are needed not when you select them. I guess that's cooler, considering it forces EVERYONE to participate, and solves the issue of "how do we explain the intro video for DK/Link/Yoshi/whoever else isn't there?"

Yeah... But I assume the SE worked like that since day one. There are events in Melee that force you to play as one character, then you have to clear some modes with certain characters (Classic, Adventure, All-Stars, Target, Homerun...) to unlock the rest. It isn't something that strange.
They can, however, make different routes depending on the resolve of certain stages so at the end you may not play with all the characters the first time, increasing the replay value. Just like Starfox.

I guess that's cooler, considering it forces EVERYONE to participate Except secret characters, who're forced not to.

I love this stage! I knew the Combo Cannon was right there on the top!

Combo Cannon is fantastic, I saw this coming but of course some didn't think Halberd would be part of the platforms. Haha.
Metroid stage should be Tallon IV and is like Castle Siege, a mix of the ice, lava, phazon, overworld, and ruins with Chozo statue lasers and other things.

Firstly, my money's on Chozo Ruins for the 'troid stage. I'm getting tired of these "tour" stages. Not because they aren't cool, but there's only so many times you can have a stage that's a moving platform running you through an area. All we had was Mute City in Melee, and suddenly we have Delfino Plaza, Halberd, and Lylat Cruise. I wouldn't doubt we'll see at least two more by the game's full completion. Not to say the stages aren't kickass, since Melee's were very lackluster. Just a statement of slight distress. My second comment is that the hand is clearly holding nothing over the laser in that last shot. BUT if you think about it, if it didn't have anything to grab in Superstar it still moved over to the laser. So, by deduction, I'd think it's likely that the hand does still grab people and slam them around. Awesome or what?

I don't think the Halberd is a tour. It's more of just a crazy moving course. It's not realy touring anything.
Ment to say this earlier. Sorry to return to the grid thing, but as of now there are 12 courses (3x4). With no Metroid, that leaves 3, which will be filled by F-Zero, Earthbound, and Ice Climbers. That is, those are what he'll show for now.
