Do you guys not remember the Mario special moves update? You press DOwn+B to use FLUDD, and Down+B to get rid of it...
It's not a new item...
Also, FREAKING AMAZING VIDEO!

You press DOwn+B to use FLUDD, That part was confirmed and Down+B to get rid of it... That part wasn't. Thats definitely the simplest possibility, though.

I'm impressed at how Sakurai managed to do a better Sonic than Sega themselves, really Sega, you should hire the guy for your next Sonic (just don't pester him with release dates, and stuff like that, and he will improve Sonic)

How is it a better Sonic than Sega's? He looks the same, he's animated the same, and his moves are all taken from Sega's games. Does the fact that it's Nintendo just make it automatically better somehow?

CALM DOWN KIRBYCHU!! *SLAP!!* Yes, it is better. Because they used the latest Sonic model, but gave him classic Mega Drive animations. And his run in that video just feels so meaty... you can hear the thump of every footstep. So it's not that it's better because one is Nintendo and one is Sega. It's better because it's been done properly! Now I know we have some defensive Sonic arguments going at the moment, but I'm not going to defend Sonic over the last few years. They have, quite simply, been bad. But that doesn't detract from the awesome originals... and that's the feeling Sakurai has gone for. Meaty!!

Subjective! I haven't yet played a Halo game that didn't suck ass in my opinion, but look how that series is doing.
But I'm not getting into this argument again. Just know that my opinion is fact and leave it at that.

How is it a better Sonic than Sega's? He looks the same, he's animated the same, and his moves are all taken from Sega's games. Does the fact that it's Nintendo just make it automatically better somehow? Just to start: - He does have Genesis animations and sound effects, - His spikes look shorter than in his latter games, - He wears the old school shoes - His mouth is not always in his cheek (I hatted that in Sonic Heroes), -His "Tude" levels seem to be back to where they were in the 90´ -Nothing "Extreme" this far -He seems to not talk a lot while fighting -An it sounds like his original voice actor (but I cant back that), -And lets hope there is no other Sonic character in the game (Or at least not Shadow or Silver for anything else than sonic alternate colors) So right now he Sounds and looks better than Sega's Sonic, now I need to play it to see if he plays better than in Sega´s later games. (and just to ad, I am a Sonic fan since the Genesis era, but his games had been downhill since Heroes)

And if Master Chief was in Brawl Nintendo would no doubt be doing a better job than Microsoft / Bungie / whoever technically owns him now. But comparing Halo to recent Sonic? Wow, thats a real kick in the balls to the Spartan.

Actually, the only animation there that's from the Genesis era is that teetering one... the run is from the XBox 360 game, and the backflippy stuff is from the same game and Sonic Rush. The spinning animation is the one that's only been used in games since the GBA ones. Most of the attacks here are from Sonic Battle, including the punch, punch, kick combo. I'm sorry, but I just find it bizarre that Sakurai is being praised for making Sonic cooler than Sega have, when all he's actually done is thrown together Sega's stuff.

For one, the Halo games do not suck. I suck AT them, but they are deep and interesting and have an absolutely massive fanbase. Quite possibly the best new IP in the last few years. If Master Chief was in Brawl, you would see a lot of X-Box and 360 owners suddenly buying the Wii.
So Sonic's moves are based on his games, and that's now a bad thing? Everyone is completely losing their heads over this update. This is the only topic on this board that has gotten out of control, and I am highly tempted to lock it until everyone calms down.
This is a good update, and almost everyone is in agreement on that. His moves and animation are MOSTLY taken from older games. And anyone who credits those moves as originally being from Sonic Battle and not Sonic The Fighters is just wrong. In fact... a lot of these moves are from Sonic The Fighters... makes sense, I guess!
Now everybody calm the fuck down!!

That doesn't mean it sucks, and it doesn't mean I have the right to go around telling it's fans as such. Of course, this is me learning once again that I should avoid any topic than mentions Sonic on this forum. It always degenerates into much bashing of my favourite non-Nintendo series, and then ends with everyone mad at me for defending it. So Sonic's moves are based on his games, and that's now a bad thing? No, I never said it was a bad thing. But I also don't think Sakurai deserves credit for making Sonic cooler than Sega can when he's not doing anything he hasn't done in Sega games.

Feel free to defend Sonic. But don't forget you're defending him against ONE person! A couple people have aired grievances, and one has made it into a long rant against Sonic. You have taken it upon yourself to spill bloody rage on them all... and anyone else who gets in the way.
So calm down.
I'm fine with you defending one of your favourite series, so long as you do it reasonably. Arcadenik, similarly, needs to be a hell of a lot more reasonable about why he doesn't like Sonic games. But getting angry at each other and just trying to shout louder than each other is just not how we do it... and not how I expected you to handle the situation either, KC.
After all, you're a regular member here and a valued one. You know how the place works. You can't do any better than explain your reasons for holding your opinions to us so we might understand. If you think Sakurai's praise is misplaced, then explain. If you think Arcadenik's position is wrong, then explain (without saying that he's wrong, of course - that's just rude).
If people disagree with you, the best you can hope for is that they will understand why you hold your own opinions. If they ignore them and carry on acting like a chump, that's for me to worry about.
Sonic's in Brawl, dude. We saw the same with Lucas... what should have been a good thing turned nasty because of disagreements like this.
EDIT
This one's to everyone - saying "In my opinion" does not absolve you from criticism. For example.... In my opinion, the Queen is a dirty whore.
Now try saying that in a forum filled with Royal Family fanatics and then saying "a man is entitled to his own opinion". No he isn't.
In my experience, 90% of opinions seem to have no basis in fact. If you can't defend an opinion with reasons, then you are not entitled to hold it. So more reasons and less arguing.
